im guessing if its any kind of alcohol it should be vodka??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,387 ✭✭✭glynf

Maybe use Articlean? Does a good job, that or rubbing alcohol which is 70% proof,-think whiskey is about the 20-40% proof on average..

BTW lads, what is the best/cheapest option to buy a full copy of windows 7? Don't know any students, and want a copy I can re-install over and over.

Looking at HWVS, and they seem to sell only OEM.

How'd you get it for €300? showing as just over 400 now.

Lenovo prices are known to fluctuate quite a lot, guess I just got it in a trough.

How much do they cost again...? --- WOW!

I have to say that I do like the physical design of the 690; it's a nice looking card.

ha. including postage, PayPal fees and a few beers, €460.

it is a beautiful card from the pics I've seen. I've spent so much on water cooling that it'd be a shame to not WC it, so it'll only run stock cooler for a while.

anyone wanna buy my 6990 now :D

from irish seller? or you found it somewhere else? 460eu looks like a great price.

so a card worth nearly a grand for 460 euro? wow

Hope you have a warranty with that just incase

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

yea. actually he only got €400 for it.

the rest went into PayPal fees and postage etc.

Deconduo just posted it to me.

likely no warranty. I'd lose it anyway when I go under water.

he bought it as a prebuilt PC.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,979 ✭✭✭Tea_Bag

just to clarify, I bought it from a guy in Dublin, and he dropped it off with Deconduo to test it.

oh Deconduo gave the all clear?

    That was handy

    For only €460... that's insane.

I'd love a 690, because it's an absolutely beautiful card, I just can't help feeling that so much of it would be lost without the cooler (aka underwater) that it's somehow not worth it.

Hats off though. Great bargain. If you happen to find an M18x around for cheap, let me know, eh?

totally agree. the beauty is in the cooler.
tbh if its quiet like I've seen the rest of the 600 series to be, I mightn't bother, and just do the CPU. my whole reason for going water was the 6990 being a beast.

I'd have a spare 360mm rad. its probably not very quiet though. and they OC much better on water cause of nvidias decision to throttle @75°;C on 6XX.

    we'll see...

he was selling cause he was short cash and had previously used a 6870 and thought the performance was adequate.

Great find for that money, gl with it & ffs put up a few pics when you get it:D

BTW, are you keeping the 1200W PSU Corsair Tea_bag? If you are not, l would be interested in it.

And you think the single fan dual gpu nvidia card is going to be quiet enough for you to live with?

    :pac:

Once the novelty of having a 690 has worn off you will proceed to bitch about how it sounds like a jet engine and you will end up watercooling it

BTW lads, what is the best/cheapest option to buy a full copy of windows 7? Don't know any students, and want a copy I can re-install over and over.

Looking at HWVS, and they seem to sell only OEM.

Meant to post this yesterday, I e-mailed software4students about the lack of windows 7 stock on their Irish site and asking if it was possible to just purchase through their UK site, this is the response I got:
    Hi
The licenses on the UK site are different to those on the Irish site. We don't have any Irish licenses available and won't be getting them back in I'm afraid and we are unable to sell the Uk licenses on the Irish site due to Microsoft restrictions.

    Kind regards,

    Aoife

I couldn't be 100% without logging in to check but I'm fairly sure that it will just increase the size of your ore hold.
