    Got:
    2 strip miner 1

I was expecting a bit more alright compared to ospreys 350 m3 per cycle, but I did not expected 2500 m3 per cycle in osprey and 25k cargo storage!!!!!

    Awesome!

so... just plugged in the gtx690 for the first time (yes, im that busy! :o) and my god its beautiful. the glowing "GeforceGTX" is stunning. its a pitty ill lose that with the water block.

and cause of my fan controller now, i can disable every fan individually in the rig except for the PSU and GPU. i can say that the 690 @ idle is quieter than an AX1200 :D

still downloading drivers and will test at full load again.

    Sounds good :D.

By the way, does anyone know where I could get a side window for my 400R? I think I've asked this before but I can't remember :o.

this is also the first time running the 3570K.

did some mild OCing to see if i lost the silicon lottery, and i wasnt able to boot @ 4.6ghz with auto vcore, but 4.4gtz @1.128v is perfect. using a temporary corsair A70 cooler (with 1 fan) im at 62'C on my hottest core. lots of headroom so. ill tweak and push 4.6 when ive got more time. off to work now.

If it's anything like the 500R, you'll have to mod it yourself.

    Sounds fun :pac:

The most common method of DIYing a side window seems to be taking this bit off:

    400rsideclosedb2.png

    Which leaves this:

    400r_side_window_13_by_tehinvisible-d4dcvs4.jpg

It looks pretty ok. If I were to throw in a few LED fans and braided cables, it wouldn't look that bad.

    that looks horrible!!!!

why would you want a window instead of a nice big fan? i know i would go just for a fan.

The photo isn't great, I'd say if the dust was wiped off, and there was some proper photography you'd have a different opinion :).

Have to give you that one, it's not top quality :o.

Still though, the fact that I can't see my components every day is hurting me :D. And I'm hardly going to buy a new case just for that....

    Or am I? :pac:

I'm extremely lazy so my "window mod" is literally just removing the side panel. I don't even know where it is anymore.

Some programs take forever to install. Itunes comes to mind. Other large professional suites can be slow because of heavy compression.
If the SSD is hanging, maybe a firmware update would help. Is it just writes that are slow? Check that TRIM is enabled (commands are in the SSD guide in my signature).

    Sorry for late reply,
Yes I have Trim enabled, I only notice it when Im installing something from cd.

P.S Does anyone have any idea why USBs would not work?
A bunch of my USBs just went dead for a week or 2, even the one I had the mouse connected too. I finally opened up the PC last night, and checked the connections, they were fine, but the usbs started working again when I turned the PC on ( apart from one).

i am really looking forward to see some reviews and benchamrks.

looks like pc gaming might become even more affordable with this. plus if you do get a better mobo with pcie, who says you cant drop in a better gpu when funds allow it?

it does use new socket. do they plan some high end CPUs for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

I'd say the high end ones are staying on AM3+. High end meaning more cores. It looks like FM2 will have a good lifespan so who knows what might show up.

I don't know why they didn't put something like this into the wii-u, but by the sound of the xbox 3 or 720 of 560 it could be something a bit like it. I'd be much happier with an A10 than the current consoles anyway.

I really consider FM2 to be a better option than going for a system with a pentium or possibly an i3. Except in the case that someone is buying a Z77 board and is just needing something for a few months until they can afford a 3570K. I wonder will Intel respond - they've been fairly quick to react in recent years, although there's not that much they've had to worry about!

I hope the mini-ITX boards show up soon.

Same here, a mate wants a budget gaming rig, but I've convinced him to use the Prodigy (I'm building :D).

After realising that there are no AM3+ mITX motherboards around I advised him to wait a bit for Trinity (he's doing a wee bit of video editing also, but wants to overclock so I felt the A10 would be good) so I'm (He's) ready to order once everything appears on HWVS :). I really can't wait, I'm throwing in an Antec 620, Modular PSU (the word budget is used loosely :pac:) so it should be a monster. The XFX 7770 should look nice with the colour scheme also.

Actually, are there any benefits of using the HD7770 with Trinity? I don't think it can operate in dual-GPU mode (6670 only?) but maybe there's some Lucid Virtu equivalent?

    HWVS have trinity in stock.
