I've read of a good few people doing it and it was fairly quiet, but I could out elsewhere in house to serve both purposes really

Any tips on where best to get this at the moment?

EDIT: And any definitive answer on if it can be bought from UK seller?

Should have had installed SABnzbd+ SickBeard and CouchPotato when I first got the N36L microserver a year ago! Got them done today and I am in love again!

As a NAS it's fairly quiet standing next to the TV set.

Ebuyer has it for 240 sterling if you elect for 5-days free shipping. Less a cash back of 100 pound it would be 140 pound. Not sure fo definite thou if you can avail this buying from Ireland.

Have a test bed running windows 2008 & citrix fundamentals 6 - no issues at all.

Try Headphones if you like those. Similar idea but for music. I've mine setup similar but Transmission instead of SABnzbd.

So its gone up over 70 euro since last month .
Its not worth 230 euro to be honest.

Saw this listed on ebuyer 239stg less 100 cashback. Never dealt with ebuyer myself but maybe worth checking out.

Also notice they are doing an Ml110 G7 dual core for only 229, less 100 cashback. Also a great price

    http://www.ebuyer.com/320819-hp-proliant-ml110-g7-g840-tower-server-470065-612

Delivery prices are decent but it seems you may need a NI address - will call to confirm

Interested but not for €200+ :/

Will keep an eye and see, thought HP were clearing their retail hardware so thought this stuff would be going for pennies :D

I have this all set up now using unraid, but I am going to run out of HDD space fairly quickly. Any bargains on drives?

I emailed the cashback guys and they said to submit the UK cashback form and I will get it to my ROI address.

    that's a great price for the ML110 G7, I have a G6 and it's a great server. I was hoping to get a 2nd one, but I might just go for 2 G7's at that price and sell on the G6. :)

looks like you could upgrade the CPU to anything up to a 3.7Ghz quad core Xeon E3-1200 v2 which would be nice and i'd say you could probably push that 16gb RAM limit up to 32gb down the road if the mood took you, as they said the old G6 would only do up to 8gb, but it's grand with 16 and maybe even more. :)

for that money for the base unit though is a great price (with the cashback).

just have to arrange delivery to here by other means as ebuyer don't do it any more.

Am I missing something or has it gone up?

Showing at £410 now before the cash back.

could anyone tell me, I've been considering buying this for use as home theatre pc. It would sit at the tv, where the upc supply comes in, so it would manage all downloads etc for the network. I've bought a blackgold 3600 tv card...from their site
Please be aware that for DVB-S/S2 operation you will need to connect a 6 pin PCI-express power cable to the card, in order to provide power for your satelite dish LNB. BGT3600 LNB Power

So is there any spares in there that I can use to connect to this to supply the power or am i out of luck?

I'd also be jamming a graphics card in there to supply the hdmi out
    Anyone know?

don't think so on the microserver, at least not from the googling i've done.

you can on the ML110's though. the G6's are socket 1156 and the G7 is a socket 1155.

I haven't had an opportunity to post on this, but I got confirmation on Friday that I had been approved for UK cashback. I bought off Amazon UK.

    The pdf states:

    • Product must have been delivered and invoiced between 1st
    September and 30th September 2012

If I order today, would I have a problem getting the cashback?

    Hi balooba,

Did you use an Irish address for both Amazon Shipping and Cashback?

If the offer is extended into October I'll probably go for one.

I used parcel motel northern Ireland for shipping. I used ROI address for invoice.

The Microserver is currently back down to €280.10 on dabs, though is still €336 and €346 on hpshop.ie and elara respectively. I'm not sure if the cashback deal is still live though, as the pdf on hpshop.ie hasn't been updated for October.

EDIT: I've found a pdf for the £100 cashback in the UK here, but haven't been able to find an Irish one yet. Still, it seems to be a good sign.

  • Claim Form on the HP webpage:
    http://h40055.www4.hp.com/docs/focus-pack/oct12/Microserver-cb-Oct12.pdf

I believe this is valid for Ireland, as the HP webpage mostly redirects to UK anyway..

I leave it to you lads to try :)
