Yes you are correct when talking about the student contribution but tuition fees are always covered.

    No. http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/education/third_level_education/fees_and_supports_for_third_level_education/fees.html

    Apologies everyone!

No one has to pay tuition fees, they will disappear once you say "I do" for the FRS1 form. The Irish exchequer covers the tuition for all Irish citizens.

    Unless you're repeating a year.

Why did you even bring that up it was irrelevant and strayed from the point.

    Ehh no it didn't

You said "No one has to pay tuition fees" which is incorrect. I was pointing that out. It did not stray from the point and to be honest you're the one taking this thread off topic.
So am I correct in saying we dont HAVE TO pay the €8 levy?

    Yes I think so.
The Sports Centre and USI Levy must be paid by ALL students.

The heck they do. Whether they cover your fees or not is not directly linked to citizenship at all.

    Yes, it is.
To get your tuition fees paid, you have to be an Irish or EEA citizen (EU, Switzerland or Norway) AND you have to have lived in the EU for at least 3 of the last 5 years.

If you're talking about grants and student contributions, then no. But the Free Fees (tuition fees) are entirely based on citizenship and residence.

Free Fees Scheme Criteria for Determining Eligibility are:
    1. Nationality Test
    2. Students attending full-time undergraduate courses for the first time
    3. The courses must, other than exceptionally, be of a minimum of two years duration.
    4. Residency Test

I paid the outstanding balance (circa 2300 euros) this morning, but the receipt they sent me via email says I've paid for academic year 2011/12... Will that matter? What if when it comes to registering they want to see proof I've paid for this academic year?

Mines says the same, but the receipt shows the date the money was paid, so I'm not going to worry about it

The aul safety in numbers =)

By the way guys, for anyone who was here a few pages back, my fees went down from 9 grand or so to 85 euro which I paid. I assume it's the grant that brought it down so low..

I haven't received one either but I assume it's because I didn't pay by card. I saved a pdf of the fee payment form once the balance went to 0, and I have the receipts from the bank, which I assume should suffice if any problems arise.

I'm an incoming first year. I pre-registered and gave the details of my grant application, so now it says I only have to pay €85, which is grand. I haven't paid it yet, and won't be able to until next week. I know it says the 1st of September in the tab, but it also says "Fees must be paid by the due date or prior to registration, whichever is latest." So would I be okay to leave it until next week or should I try to pay ASAP?

Yeah they've extended the deadline because they didn't give people enough notice afaik, so you'll be fine once you've paid by registration

My total is €2,449. Same as above but I have a "Commencement" charge of €114. Does anyone know what this charge is for?

    I havent paid a penny yet (i'm 3rd year).
Do we have to pay this commencement sh*e this year?

Okay so I've heard back from SUSI saying they have "deemed me eligible to process to the next step of the student grant assessment process" and that I need to send them supporting documents. Does this mean I've qualified to have the student contribution paid or am I still expected to pay it before the deadline (whenever that even is!)

It should be written on the form: Ms. Susan A. Power, Admissions Office, Trinity College Dublin.

The original statement was that ALL Irish citizens have their fees paid. That is simply incorrect, as I unfortunately know all too well. Think emigration. Conversely, citizens of ANY country who went to school for three years in the EU qualify for EU fees, and citizens of ANY country can qualify for free fees if refugees.

Im trying to get everything sorted for pre-registering/registering and have moved fees into a new bank acc. to try pay, but I was wondering what the situation is with the grant?

I got the grant last year as a first year and re-applied but I don't know if I'll be getting it this year? (If I am it hasn't been confirmed) It's acknowledged when I log in to mytcd.ie

Suppose this is really the question: Do I just pay the 2500 now and get the money back sometime during the year, or should the total I just have to pay now be 188 or whatever the union + gym charge is?

Thanks if anyone can help :)

EDIT: it finally updated itself there. Just says I have to pay 85e. It isn't accepting my credit card details tp let me pay though >.< I'll try again tomorrow.

Had the same problem paying for my accommodation earlier this week, there is a €1000 limit per transaction and your bank automatically blocks the card if you'd tried paying and failed loads of times in a short space of time. I just rang them up and they unblocked it and successfully managed to pay :)

Been trying to pay with card to no avail for a few days. Went into BOI in college today to try to organise an EFT, only to be told that for the volume of payments into the Trinity account that my payment would probably be lost, even with a payment reference. Wut? Anyone got any protips? Is the pay by card system not working for anyone else?

Huh? That sounds a bit ridiculous tbh.. I couldn't pay with a card either, so I had to go the EFT way..
I think as long as you have proof of payment it should be alright..

Oh, just checked my TCD account, the money came through and I only paid yesterday, so no worries:)

Hey, am I the only one having problems when it comes to paying on my.tcd.ie . I've been trying to pay, online payment, for the last few days (to have it done in time for registration) but when I click on ''proceed to pay'' I'm just redirected back to the My Finances tab. Wtf is going on? Anyone have similar problems?

Btw does anyone know when registration will be taking place (I know it's happening online)?
