Not many people travel without tickets, and lots of people contact far too many to try get sorted and end up with multiple tickets then on the Friday/Saturday and are trying to offload them.

    That's exactly what happens!

So you just stand there looking glum and someone will want to offload on you? How do you go about it other than roaring off the top of your voice?

If you really want to you could have a sign and just hold it up.

My advice is go to pub earlish. They'll be packed by 1, if you haven't got one by 2 then head outside. I'd be shocked if you didnt pick up one.

Anyone looking to sell a ticket will be advertising that fact. If you're standing outside the Red Parrot, Big Tree, Quinns, Barrys etc... the people will see you. Don't worry too much. If you want to PM me your mobile number I'll see if I can get any extra's for you, I'm heading in early enough. My rate of commission is very low also. :p

Out of interest face value of tickets for lets say in the Cusack stand is how much?

I got Premium Tickets last year, but fairly sure the Cusack would be in or around 80 quid. It will say it on the ticket anyway.

Ended up giving them to a guard who was at the Clonliffe/Dorset st junction, and he pulled out a fistful of about 10 and said he had enough of them!

There's your answer audman. You'll get your tickets from the guard at Clonliffe/Dorset St. Junction. Just to cover all the bases, have your chequebook with you so that you can make out an €80 cheque to the Garda Benevolent fund. That might swing it your way on the day if there's a bit of competition from other ticketless Tuamers.

Also don'y get yourself in a panic on the week of the AI. From experience the tickets really don't start floating around until the Fri night/Sat of the AI weekend. The "In Crowd" hold onto tickets until they know they have the best for themselves and then start selling on the others. And to be fair I've never paid more than face value..

Seaon tickets are fantastic,no groping around for tickets . If you put the word out early and if you think you have a football ticket, you could swop. We have ended up years with 8 extra tickets, because we ask every single person we meet ot keep us in mind. If we have extra,we pass them on-because next year that person might have an extra for you.

If you are in your co. geansaí and look for tickets at face value on the day,buy from others in co. colours, touts don't tend to wear geansaíthe

You will see folk with cardboard signs saying something like "Genuine fan - need a ticket " walking around. I have no idea how effective this is.

I have picked up tickets in Meaghers in Fairview. They have a PA system and announce spare tickets available as people trying to get rid of them tell the bar staff in the front bar. This works well as they put the sellers in touch with the buyers and you don't have to leave the pub.

Anyone know how much the tickets are this year? Is it the same as last year €80 or have they gone up?

Also what colour are the tickets this year and what do they look like?

http://www.galwaynews.ie/27401-thousands-galway-hurling-fans-set-ticket-heartbreak. Don't know what to make of my chances now?! Seems I'll be up there on the 9th looking for one?!

Doing what Kearney said to do in that article rang the the secretaries on the Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim, Donegal, Longford County boards alone with a load of clubs around the country that would be mainly known for football rather than hurling, but to no avail. They all practicaly said they'll be using what ever allocation they get themselves ie go to the match. Going to be hard enough to get them I think.

nothing new about that or the figures quoted.

    All,

Boards.ie is not a site for buying or selling tickets, try adverts.ie and I don't want to see the forum being clogged up with people looking for tickets, if you want to post looking for a ticket, do it in here, any other threads will be deleted and the posters will face sanctions.

Is discussion on the availability of tickets and the merits of who should get them permitted ?

Probably not. After all it just turns into "no, you shouldn't get tickets because you never set foot in croke park before and I did so I deserve them more than you and I support my team and I go to all their matches and I pay money to see them and I don't sit at home looking at them on tv".

Evidently its a topical issue then.

So why not discuss it ?

As you can tell, I have no problem with the scenario you outlined above.

Those who spend money going to games are more deserving of final tickets than those who don't.

I can't see how anyone can argue against that. Even with sarcasm.

No problem at all with people discussing how tickets are allocated

On what basis are you going to be able to prove the posters merits though?.

The way they talk, provide pictures of stubs, frequency of their activity?.

TBH you can never really prove how much or little someone has attended, what you can do though is keep any tickets for proper boards users and not someone who's just joined up to try get them.

So this should be an exclusive little thread for those who constantly lost here.

Nope I didn't say that. It was stated above that restrictions should be placed on who gets the tickets based on attendance and loyalty.
All I said was that's impossible to enforce, how can you prove something like that on a forum?.

Whereas you can check the users join date, and if any were to be on an internet forum, the most practical would be that the tickets went to lads who were regulars around here.

P.S I'm not saying that trying to set myself up for one, I'm in the thankful position of having one already. 9 years off regular attendance have seen to that.

Well if anyone has any spares. I'd appreciate them. :D
