Imo a November release is only realistic if this game is not going to be a 100% new build and since the parachute looks the exact same as the one in The Ballad of Gay Tony then I reckon this release date could be true.

GTA IV was the last game that Rockstar released which was developed by Rockstar North. That was released more than four years ago. For all we know they've been working on GTA V since the day after IV was released.

They co-developed Red Dead Redemption with R* San Diego. Apparently they spent years on it because it was such a chore to develop.

I think that San Diego did most of the work there. North were more consultants. Could be wrong though.

Hopefully we do get 3 new screens on Friday, that would fit into the pattern of sorts - 3 on Monday, then Wednesday, and finally Friday. Hopefully with a 2nd trailer or even a release date! I wonder what the screens will be of? The ones on Monday focused on transport, todays on leisure, so I'm betting it's more to do with action and guns.

I wouldn't rule out a 2012 release this year if we do get new screens before the end of the week. That will be new info in 3 days in a week, and the full on marketing campaign really kicking off. As many have said, GTA sells itself, it doesn't need the massive long advertising other games do. This is still August, perfectly reasonable imo if it was to be released at say the end of November, 3 full months to hype it up, plenty of time for GTA. This is me being very optimistic of course but hopefully it's possible!

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I'm sceptical of this release date but then they have had a long time to develop this game.

At least there'll be WWE '13 to play around November should it be a hoax

Don't get too excited about any kind of advancement in graphics. It is still current gen and there will be more going on and a bigger map than GTA4 so graphics may have to be compromised a bit. It will be fun though! :-)

I thought the consensus was that the trailer and pics were pc rendered?
As in the gameplay featured in the trailer would only be possible on a pc.
(number of npc's shown not possible on a ps3 or xbox 360)

These fúckers are getting my hopes up too!.... I genuinely wish I could forget about this game until release day.
GTA are the only games (bar Knights of the Old Republic) that I let myself get sucked in with suspense waiting for.

Perhaps you are right. The ads and screens in advance of game releases rarely reflect what actually appears in game. Especially when it comes to consoles. I remember being blown away by GTA4 screenshots before release.

The PC version is usually a year or so after for GTA so who knows.

Being completely honest, I'd be happy with more GTAIV graphics, with maybe some work on lighting and interiors.

Obviously there'll be some minor improvements in the graphics, but anyone that expects a large leap forward on consoles will be disappointed.

I just want some really cool gliches, like the swing of death in IV was really cool. It kept me happy for weeks. :o

GTA IV was released simultaneously on all 3 platforms.

You're right, it was released 8 months later. Fuck. Oh well, it gives me plenty of time to upgrade my PC.

If your pc can play GTA4 I can't imagine it won't be able to handle GTA5.
It's gonna have to play on consoles that are 7 years old too remember!

A very good point. GTA IV's graphics engine is very good imo. The physics could stand an upgrade, but apart from that I think the major change is going to be colours - GTA IV's Liberty City is fairly grey.

Maybe it's like you start off as the old guy and you die in like the first mission and goes to the Mexican bloke for a rebuilding storyline. There could very well be multiple protagonists.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,600 ✭✭✭✭CMpunked

I wouldnt mind multiple protagonists for different areas of the city.
Say like how they worked it for the main IV story and then the two dlcs, they all focused on a different area and scene of the city.

For those on PC; I'd imagine that you'll not be waiting long at all. I think Max Payne 3 came out on PC two weeks after the console releases, and Rockstar, on their Newswire, made it fairly obvious that they were chuffed with themselves for getting the PC release so close to the console release.

They also commented that they "aim to close the gap with future releases" (paraphrasing), so I'd imagine V will hit PCs fairly shortly after Consoles. I reckon they'll leave it 3-4 weeks, for financial reasons though, at least (ye PC users can probably justify a few days in the difference, but you'd probably not be able to ignore it for a whole month waiting to play it on PC, knowing there's a readily available console version sitting in XtraVision for €50, so you'll likely end up buying it twice).

I have a PC, but it can barely run IV on it's lowest settings. Would love to be able to soup it up and get V on the PC instead of a console (My 360 Red ringed about six months ago, though, so that means that GTA V will cost me the price of the game and whichever console I opt for). Still, though, I suppose, as someone not very familiar with PC gaming/hardware, at least I know if I get a console the game will run properly and there'll be no messing around or fidgetting with anything on it.

The new screenies are good, dirtbikes, tennis (hope I don't have to do that) and parachuting. The bad side is that no-one knows when GTA V will actually be released.

That's a good sign at least.

Getting both the console and pc release dates as close together as possible will more than likely push back the general release date right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,342 ✭✭✭Bobby Baccala

Lovin rockstar at the moment, they really know how to hype up their fans. I like getting little amounts of information about this game at a time, it'd be boring if nothing was left to the imagination.

Buy it for console run home and realise you own a PC not a console.. FFUuuuuuuu...

I can wait just fine, just like I can wait for films without watching terrible cam versions.

Like MGS 2, or — to a lesser extent — Red Dead Redemption? That would be interesting...
