I have decided to keep my i5 2500k, and instead start dabbling with some overclocking.

For this, I will most likely go with the Corsair H100 - but I hear a bit of talk about the included fans tend to be a bit on the loud side. So any of you able to recommend some other fans to use for this purpose?

The case that will be used is the Corsair Vengeance C70 - and I aim for a 4.5 ghz overclock.

what do you make of the C70?

Just looked at the STRIKE 7 price tag! WT... €299.99!!! There are PCs costing less than that.

    Is it even mechanical?

While the looks of it will depend on taste, I must say that it has been a breeze to slap the components into it - and even without modular PSU I am able to hide just about anything behind the back plate.

The paint job is excellent - and so it the entire feel when handling it - it just feels like something that will last for a long time.

However.. it is not perfect (is any case that?)

    - Included fans are not amazing
    - When using SSD's and the "90 degree angle" sata plugs, it will hit the drive below - so a straight sata is needed.
    - Motherboard screws missing - even though they were mentioned in the included manual (could just be me being unlucky).
    - Hard foam packaging - softfoam it always better - again might be too much to expect for the price point. But my package arrived with a good bit of dents - but luckily not a scratch on the case itself.

They might be out later, if you have a look around many (unofficial) reviews were released earlier.

If that's true, it could still be released today in US time. They're all still in bed and it might be a midday release.

Nvidia officially announced the 660ti at 14:00, so reviews should be up now from the big review sites (TPU, Anandtech etc.)

If you link to a search on HWVS it just links you to the last thing you searched for, unfortunately. =/

That said I'm going to assume you're linking to the 660ti, funnily enough myself and a friend were discussing it earlier and didn't realise it wasn't already out, popped onto HWVS and saw the price an hour ago and were saying it was a bit pricey. :P

    Durn it!

    They're ranging from about €299 to €325. That's $370 to $399

There's only 4 at the moment so hopefully they'll be a few more in the lower 250-300 price bracket soon.

Prices are always more expensive in Europe, I'm actually happy with the 660ti's price.

I really really hope the HD7950 drops below €300 as the 660ti kinda chokes at higher resolution.

The 660ti is a little monster at 1080p though, The GTX 670 killer which then makes it the GTX 680 killer!

    450W rated. Yuss.

If one comes up for ~270 with a enclosed style cooler I think I'm going to have to jump on it.

So how will a 660ti compare to my current ati 6950 for single screen 1920X1080?
Im running every game @ max settings and high framerate as it is but ive being considering an upgrade for a few months now as i have it since that card first hit the market.
The card would be the bottleneck if any on my rig,i just like to keep ahead of the curve so to speak with gfx cards.
Sorry if one of the links provided for reviews mention any comparisons between cards and maybe my 6950 , but i havent got a chance to read them yet.

what are your specs? there are a good comparisons in those links with all current rivals. 660ti does quite a lot better then 6970, so it defenetly be better then 6950

I'm possibly heading over to the US in September. If I buy something like the 660 ti over there, will I have to pay tax on it when I bring it back?

That is incorrect. You are liable for duty on the card. You may walk through customs without being challenged or you may not.

    Correct.

I'm not 100% but I think you could post it home to a relative, as a "gift" and not pay customs on it. As I said though, not 100% on that one.

EDIT: Here it is. There's no customs for a value of under €45 and there's a 2.5% customs charge for a value of under €700.

€22 limit for gifts. Not going to be of much use here.

The revenue link above lists it as €45 for the customs being waived and a flat 2.5% charge on anything under €700.

EDIT: Sorry, I see my edit was in after your post. :P

lol thats why i said "if any" as in if i ever got to the stage where there was a bottleneck it would be the 6950.
Reading them reviews its a serious performer with unbeatable bang for your buck and a very big upgrade from my 6950.
    Do hardwareversand.de accept cc now?

Using newegg.com and HWVS as comparisons, that still works out at €20 cheaper for a Sapphire HD7870 from the US and the EVGA 660 ti is €50 quid cheaper including customs charge.

Import duty would be significant, close to €100. The tax is usually based on the Irish RRP.

Gift tax will not apply. You can attempt to evade customs but you have good chance of your shipment being held to ransom at some postal centre.

Gift tax does look like it applies. That's largely irrelevant though because I'd have to pay 50 quid of VAT anyway.
