    Just to inform you guys

AMD Rolls the ball to Nvidia's court

After the recent price cut back in July, that included a good US $50 price cut for HD 7970, HD 7950 and HD 7870 graphics cards, AMD has apparently decided to cut some of these prices even further taking the HD 7950 3GB graphics card down to US $320, or just in line with Nvidia's recently release GTX 660 Ti graphics card.

AMD has already dropped the HD 7970 from US $479 to US $429, HD 7950 from US $399 to US $349 and the HD 7870 down from US $349 to US $299. The new price cut skips the HD 7970 graphics card but includes the HD 7950, HD 7870 as well as the 1 and 2GB versions of the HD 7850.

The most important is probably the price cut for the 3GB HD 7950 which battles it out with Nvidia's recently released GTX 660 Ti. The HD 7950 3GB is, according to the report, will receive a US $30 price cut placing it at US $320. The HD 7870 2GB graphics card got another US $50 price cut pushing it down to US $250 which probably makes it one of the most interesting mid-range graphics cards on the market.

AMD also decided to drop price on 1 and 2GB version of the HD 7850 graphics card taking them down by US $40 to US $190 and US $210, respectively.

The competition is always good and for now, AMD has definitely rolled the ball to Nvidia's court.

That's pretty sweet considering that I was about to buy a 7850. Maybe now I can up that to a 7870?

Any idea when these price cuts will realistically take effect?

I decided to pull the plug,in fairness i really dont need a new card,my hd 6950 is more than capable for todays games @ 1080.
The only game that i cant run on absolute max settings and still manage a consistant 60+ fps is BF3 on ultra settings,im running mostly high with some ultra and manage close to a consistant 60 fps, however BF3 doesnt look an awful lot different going from high to ultra to me.
Maybe if the 660ti or 7950 drop in price ill make a purchase but for now i think ill hold off.
Now i must wait until scan get the goods back before they refund, hopefully there wont be an issue.
Thanks for thoughts and suggestions guys but Shadow made some great points a page or two back and made me question if i really did actually need a new card.

Things could change, im downloading the planetside 2 beta as i type :P

DPD arrived today with a shiney new MSI 660ti power edition, i was like WTF scan said they would cancel with DPD.
While the delivery man was there i had an on the spot decision to make, send it back or accept, the greedy ****er in me decided to keep it :D
Forgot to say i got a code for borderlands 2 also, not too shabby.

Nice, we finally see some cuts on the 7850. It's been climbing up since release, so the impact won't be that great. The 7870 has been cut by quite a lot. I think AMD previously reduced this to attract some people away from the 7850 but maybe it didn't have the effect that they hoped. Definitely a card worth considering now for someone with just a little more funds than a 7850.

I'd have to agree on that one - they're not a bad introduction to a product though imo. As with anything you need to dig deeper. That said the other side of the coin in Anandtech - jesus christ.

    Here we go -

Have you seen the one about the sponsorship?

It's probably the most thinly veiled pandering I've ever seen, not that I'm complaining. :pac:

Still waiting on HWVS to drop them 7xxx series prices! Pixmania may have done it already, not sure, saw an OEM 7950 on there earlier for €290

when was the last time you tried it m8?

anyway, did nvidia did any price drops on their 6 series? looks like the only one that is playing that ball is AMD.

Same boat as me. I just want a few case fans and a vga cooler.

on the same subject, what's the cheapest, fanless, decent, psu I can get?

    it'll have to run a 3570K OC'd
    a 6990 OC'd
    1 Hdd, 1 SSD.
xonar d2x (its got a big amp and uses additional molex power)
    a WC pump.
    some LEDs.

and on a related note, if I stuck a gtx570 in my rig as a physX card, would 850W psu be enough?

    ^This

Special items are returns or B-stock.

Pretty sure "special item" means the package was opened already or is a return.

    oh right

never knew they did stuff like that

Wonder are the cases exactly the same as the brand new ones except without the box

If there was a massive price difference I'd go for it, but when you're spending over 130 on a case I doubt €13-€15 will break the bank.

    Watch out for Komplett

I purchased a Faulty QNAP NAS purchased from Komplett

It was delivered 2 weeks ago while I was on holidays, when I opened it up on Sunday night it was "DOA", I spent 2 nights trying to sort it out

Now I'm being told it's not DOA, because it was not reported within 7 days, it has "developed" a fault and will take up to 9 weeks to sort it out

This is the quote for Komplett service rep "Please note that RMAs can normally take between 2 – 3 weeks to process depending on factors such as, the nature of the fault and the age of the product. Also please be aware that repairs can take up to 6 weeks."

Anyone suggest a place to get double sided thermal tape? Looking to install an Arctic Accelero twin turbo II but every review says that the thermal compound supplied with the thing is useless.
