So why no love for braking out the Jigsaw and making one?

Procast, Give a look at this-MNPCTECH Custom made 600T acrylic full window for $125 (€101) plus shipping.

Imo way nicer than the Corsair one.

I priced this back in march and it was $125 +$95 shipping. Shipping doesn't include tracking and the Email from them warns that in a small number of cases the panel won't fit and by ordering you accept that risk.

Thanks man. $95 shipping!!?! How did they get a monitor for Korea to me for about $30! $95 is taking the micky - so much so that I might start looking at perspex people here to do a copy.

Just as an FYI, I'm looking at perspex for a project ATM and the stuff isnt cheap. If you're just doing a window in your current door you could use a small amount of 2/3mm and it'd be cheap enough, but if you were to do a full door from the stuff it'll be reasonably expensive as you'll need a fair bit, and 5mm+.

TBH I got the impression from the email that they didn't want my business! If you find someone then let me know, I'd be interested in getting it done. It might work out cheaper if a few people here show an interest in getting one

    Absolutely!

Or we could just get these. :D

Wishing I'd got a black one now!

Sleeved SLI bridge - thats anal!

Well after seeing that I now feel too embarrassed to put a window on mine. It should remain hidden away until it looks that good.

I'm really starting to get the itch for upgrading my 580, it's the added cost of the water block that's putting me off.

That's not anal, that's f**kin beauty right there. :) That MDPC Vanilla sands sleeving is a thing of beauty. Got the sleeving for my rig off them, amazing quality.

Next build I do I would love to go with a black/gold colour combo. Trouble is the Z77 Sabertooth will be going as I want to go with 3 x 7970's, and its hard to find a nice black mobo without plastic guns, bullets and all other kind of nonsense hanging off of it.

Whats wrong with the Z77 Sabertooth for that? Oh you going for 40 Land PCIe? Go for the X79 Sabertooth Awww! Thats horrible looking!

I've seen rigs in the picture thread with the mobo all covered bar the slots. Is that something done aftermarket or are they special boards? I assume its expensive as f'ck, but it looks delish.

Yea the plan is to flog the Sabertooth Z77, & 2500K and 850W psu.

then go i7-3820(3930K if I have the cash) & X79 mobo (undecided), a third 7970, Silverstone TJ11 or Caselabs SMH10 (looking like TJ11 as good air cooling untill i get the watercooling side up & runnning) and a 1200W PSU.

    Then it'll be watercooling time.

Don't like the X79 sabertooth looks wise, and the MSI Big bang, G1 sniper etc. look like a fight in a toy factory. i want to go with a different colour scheme than black/red or black/blue..

Need to get some cast together first though:)

ED E I think you're refering to the Sabertooth boards - click on 'my rig' in my sig and see if thats the one.

Yup. Your's is a particularly nice example.

    Thanks :) - I wasn't trying to be a poser honest!

    Item|Price
    ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77, Sockel 1155, ATX, DDR3|€214.19
    ASRock Z77 Extreme6, Sockel 1155, ATX|€166.94
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€474.91

I had a motherboard go on me which is why I went for it - although its not hugely bad value for money given the look and the 5 year warranty. I figure it'll add resale value.

And mine is already a Sabertooth Z77:)

The older one (P67? P68?) looks just as cool - I wish I;d bought on of those second hand now that I know.

I'm just puzzled by how neat your rigs (and the ones in the pictures thread) look. Is it all down to the little rubber inlets that allow you to thread the wiring through the back or does having a really big case help?

Using cable ties and that sort of thing i've gotten my wires to a tidy enough state that I can fiddle around with my computer without them getting in the way but it certainly doesn't look pretty.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,224 ✭✭✭Procrastastudy

If you go back a bit you'll see the Ghettotastic - my old rig. Its having the back plate so you can hide everything - makes cable management a breeze! That and modular PSUs.

Actually now I think about its linked in my new shots :)

What are we predicting the 660ti is going to require power wise?

Slightly lower than the GTX 670, as it is basically a 670 with a crippled 192-bit memory bus.

Hmmm, a 670 is rated at 500w, so lets say 450w.

My current card(5770) is also 450 rated by ATI and works fine...on my dell 375W PSU. Hmmm.

[NB: Only considering it depending on what kind of value it is, and will only be in the current rig for a maximum of 3 months]

I have decided to keep my i5 2500k, and instead start dabbling with some overclocking.

For this, I will most likely go with the Corsair H100 - but I hear a bit of talk about the included fans tend to be a bit on the loud side. So any of you able to recommend some other fans to use for this purpose?

The case that will be used is the Corsair Vengeance C70 - and I aim for a 4.5 ghz overclock.

The new corsair static pressure ones got great reviews for just that, arguably better than the noctuas, which were sort of the fan of all fans.

Scythe Gentle Typhoons - I have the 1150RPM versions on my H100 and they're silent. Loudest thing in the case is actually the H100's pump.

Yeah - I have looked at them, seems to be in pre order everywhere I've looked. On the other hand, I should be able to survive with the stock fans for a brief period.

Funny how you and ED E have mentioned exactly the two fans I already had my eyes on. Nice to get a bit of confirmation - that the items I had in mind would be good options.

Now I guess just a matter of choosing....

I wonder if those dual 'cores' is just a single module with two 'cores' - It's derived from the Bulldozer architecture. Nevertheless, early reports from tom's hardware suggested improvement on Llano which was built on the Athlon II so if there's gains to be had, who am I to complain about how they go about their architecture.
