Most annoying bit is that it has been marked as being "in Transit" since Friday afternoon - I blame the UK department of DPD!! :D

And now it went from "In Transit" - one step back to "At Sortation Facility" - seems like I am not gonna get my case today either. Never used DPD before - are they normally slow about their shipping?

i payed extra for faster delivery and waiting since 6th of august and the fecking thing is still not here! i would have better just gone to pc world at this stage and buying it for 10eu extra!!!!

is there any point in complaining to amazon at this stage? if i cancel now what will happen?

The one things I will say about Amazon, is that they handle complaints very professionally. I have had things that were broken, all the way down to ~15£ earphones up to a ~600£ tv - which they have replaced these without a single complaint - and they pay fully for the return shipping.

This at least goes for item SOLD by Amazon - the various 3rd party shops operating within the Amazon market I am not so sure about.

But if you cancel it, and the item is sold by Amazon - I expect them to be "happy" to let you return it - if it shows up that is :)

Yep, just let them know. I had an item not arrive before with them and they sorted it out fast. I think this might have even been a 'fullfilled' seller and amazon sorted it out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

okay it says this: Sold by: Amazon EU S.a.r.L.

    Dispatch estimate: 6 Aug 2012
Delivery estimate: 10 Aug 2012 (More about estimates)
1 package via Deutsche Post DHL

So i presume it has to come by post, not DHL.

need to find the complaint section now...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

That's sold by amazon, not any third party. I've had stuff arrive a few days after estimate but I've never forked out for faster delivery. I would expect them at least to give you a refund on the delivery since they could not 'deliver' on their schedule when you paid extra. It's looks worse with the weekend and there mightn't be much movement but I would have expected it on the Monday in fairness.

i did not got tracking at all, which was weird. i sent them email, i will see what will happen.

very annoyed to be honest. this thing is putting me off from using amazon in the future.

Total pisser when you paid extra for faster delivery. I ordered a sensei raw, chose the amazon direct option and ended up with a reseller as well.

think Monotype mentioned they do this occasionally but it looks like you'll be covered by amazon if its a no show.

Could be worse, delivery for my rodent is between 13th -22nd :)

Digital download accounts for 50 percent of computer games industry

    http://vr-zone.com/articles/digital-download-accounts-for-50-percent-of-computer-games-industry/16971.html

I'd say a vast chuck of that are PC sales, but I suppose there's also mobile platforms to consider. I wonder how well the PC market is actually doing these days. I know a lot of people moving back to PC these days due to ease of digital distribution and superior quality/customisation.

apparently pc games market had its best year ever last year and EA announced a month ago that the pc market brought in more money than the PS3 market which is very good considering EA don't release alot of their big selling games on pc

I think the fact that the current consoles have been out 6+ years and that €600 will build you a decent 1080 machine, more people are considering & turning to PCs as a gaming option.

Sure that smartphones and tablet games fall under digital distribution as well, and I see a lot of people who would run a mile from a console playing on same aas well as facebook games, etc.

Just got an SSD in the post today. I've windows already installed on my HDD. I was wondering, since I haven't activated windows yet, could I just do a clean install? I've no documents on the computer that I desperately need to save.

If its retail you can activate it to your hearts content.

Ye, well it's the OEM version. So, I'm assuming I can only activate it once ye? Transferring over to an SSD just looks messy so could I just do a clean install and then activate windows once it's installed on the SSD?

Just unplug the HDD (you should do this anyway). Install Windows on the SSD and activate it. If all is grand plug in the HDD - transfer off what you need and format it - fill it with po... potential yes potential.

    Simples :D

Actually if its being activated on the same mobo you can activate it to your hearts content as well (85% sure)

Can I just delete it off the HDD then after?

When you plug the HDD back in go into the BIOS and make sure the machine is booting off the SSD.

You can then do what you like to the files on the HDD. I'd format the HDD.

Before you do all this make sure your BIOS is set up for AHCI mode and not IDE or RAID.

    Consult the oracl... Motherboard Manual.
