Guys, is it normal for Hardwareversand's prices to just suddenly jump for no reason? I put a good couple of components into the basket yesterday, and when I logged back on today the price had jumped by around fifty Quid all together.

Is adjusting for VAT or something, as every item in the basket had increased slightly in price.

They look as if they've done a few increases alright - I was looking at a couple of builds an I noticed the i3s have all increased.

    Has Germany perhaps increased VAT?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 305 ✭✭BhoyRayzor

few components seem to have gone up by a couple of quid or a fiver, wouldn't be due to VAT though. their prices fluctuate up and down all the time but a fiver is the biggest I've seen them go up in a while anyway

The biggest increase I've seen has been the Intel i5-2500k which went up from around 188 to 200.

Man, I wish I had have just bought the build yesterday! :(

Probably because they're running out of stock on the 2500k and all Sandy Bridge processors.

and because some people dont fancy paying for 2500k performance by ivy bridge prices.
i would still go with 2500k if i would go for new build. you can call me old fashioned pc redneck! :P

That tray CPU being cheaper than the box was always a bit of an aberration -they either made a mistake or just had a few they wanted rid of imho.

If you do buy it anyway make sure you swap what's in your basket to the boxed version.

Can't go wrong with the old faithful 2500K!

On a side note, this will be my first time buying from Hardwareversand. Can anyone explain how the whole payment system works. I understand that it's done through Bank transfers, so I assume they send me their details through an Email after I've placed the order?

Debit would be so much easier.

Yeah in your order confirmation email they give you their bank details (IBAN, etc) and if you're paying attention you'll spot the "intended for international payment ....." number is tied to your order number. There's a good pic somewhere that explains it well but I'm on phone atm....

Tray is always cheaper than the box - less warranty and no cooler.

I think I found that image you were talking about, posted by Deconduo.

    Usually is, I mean.

It must have changed quite recently, as the boxed version of the 2500K was ~200, whilst the tray was ~180.

As far as I know HWVS normally have them at about the same price. Intel also spec the same retail rrp for both. Its the first time I've seen a tray CPU significantly cheaper than a boxed on. Granted I've only been looking since my build a couple of months back.

I just placed my order and I'm now preparing the Payment transfer.

However, I've been asked to put in the address of the bank. The Bank listed in the Email was "Deutsche Postbank AG Dortmund". I looked around online and found this address which popped up a couple of times.

    Hiltropwall 4-12
    44137 Dortmund Mitte

Does the address really matter that much when transferring money? And also, do you think it's correct?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

The box is just often cheaper than the tray because the demand is probably so much higher.
    The tray should be cheaper.

You might want to email them if you've ordered.

BreakTaker is a lightweight application for Windows that reminds you to take breaks while working on your computer.

By encouraging you to take short breaks at regular intervals, BreakTaker can increase your overall productivity and can alleviate common workplace injuries resulting from fatigue, eye strain, and repetitive stress injury.

And Death from a travelling bloodcloth.

    Just my luck, eh.

What in the name of God could cause a change in price that lasted all of twelve hours?

[EDIT] Checked the whole build again. Apparently that was the only price that changed, so it's not too bad. Well, certainly not as bad as the fact that everything went up in price by about 5-10 quid.

Ah, nevermind, lol. Sure I'm thinking of cancelling the order and holding off for a couple of weeks.

Does anyone here know how to cancel an order with Hardwareversand? They haven't confirmed the order yet through an email, and they haven't taken money out of my account yet.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Taken the money? Have you already done the bank transfer?

To cancel if you haven't given them the money, you can just leave it and it will expire. If you've already sent the money, you'd have to go to the bank as soon as possible,... I'm not sure they'd even still have the power to cancel it... and get onto hardwareversand as quickly as possible with telephone and/or email. They can be pretty fast at sending it out once they have the money.

It seems like the money hasn't been transferred yet. I'm with Ulster Bank and they say that the process usually takes around three business days.

I checked my order status on the HWVS website, and there's no indication that they've received anything.

Well could run down to your bank and tell them to stop it then. I'd imagine it would be like running after a posted letter though.

You should send HWV an email right away. I don't know how they process refunds like that or do you plan to make another order? It's a bit messy.

Apparently they've already taken the money from my account. :(

Will I just send them an email quoting my order number and asking that they cancel it? Also, should this be in English or German?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

English should do. If you have German send that off too in case they read that sooner. If you're serious about cancelling it you should ring them up as well. There's no telling whether they'll read your email on time.

I just sent them an email quoting my order number. If I don't get a reply soon, I'll give them a call.

Hopefully cancelling the order won't be too much of a problem, as they haven't yet even confirmed the order itself. I am surprised, however, that they're so quick the money from my account without offering me any kind of confirmation.
