    Wipe it

Actually the best way would be using Penelope Cruz but my above method also works.

sopropyl/Rubbing alcohol & Qtips. Chemists would have same as well.

I knew rubbing alcohol was needed but I was unsure what to use to wipe it. Mix stuff on Internet about qtips too. Maybe I'll just use a paper towel

Well never caused me grief, when the alcohol dries if any bits of q-tip fluff are left, a blast of air will remove them. Last time I re-applied paste I used a soft cloth that come with glasses, did the job fine.

Arctic Silver's Arcticlean is great at cleaning thermal paste off and giving you a clean surface.

I did use Vodka to try and clean my Naga Razer when it started playing up - it died, but at least it died happy.

Has anyone got any recommendations for some free backup software? I'm using Acronis on my own PC and I find it great but I don't fancy paying for another licence for the folks PC.

    Thanks.

I use Acronis to backup my SSD, but for everything else I just use RoboCopy. It's built into Win7, and can be run from the command line.

Once you mention the command line you've lost me! I was kinda hoping for something as simple as acronis just without the bells and whistles. The plan is to be able to leave the hard drive with them and let them backup every month or so.

It's not nearly as hard as it sounds. To set one up, you just open Notepad, type in what you need, then save is as a .bat file. Open Windows Task Scheduler, and set it to run the .bat file whenever you want to backup stuff.

For the file itself, it just goes as follows:

    "Robocopy [source] [destination] /MIR"

So for me, It's just "Robocopy E: F: /MIR" and it backs up a whole drive to another whole drive. The /MIR is an argument to mirror the source data in the destination folder. There are a bunch of other ones if you need something more specific. They can just be Googled for.

/Brief explanation. If you need more info or a walkthrough for it, I'd be glad to help.

When I try to run it in Command prompt I'm getting an error copying c:\pagefile.sys. It says it's being used by another process?

Yeah, this is why I use Acronis for my SSD. If you try and copy system files it'll mess up. It's because that's where your pagefile is stored, so the system is continually using it, and it can't be copied. You can set RoboCopy to ignore those files, but then it won't be a complete backup, and it becomes redundant. It's only really useful for data; documents, videos, etc.

I just remembered I got a copy of norton ghost with my Samsung SSD. Looks like that will do the job. Cheers Serephucus.

EaseUS Todo Backup v3 is pretty good, similar to acronis. They've started charging with the version 4, so you'll have to look around for version 3.

so I got my storm stryker the other day, along with another 8gb of RAM, mostly for looks, and while its cheap (I'm using close to 8gb of RAM while gaming anyway), but I discovered a fault on my motherboard, in that one of the RAM slots is dead :(

quick call to HWVS (took 2 attempts to get to an English speaker), but UPS is picking it up tomorrow.

gonna have to throw my itx board into the stryker cause my 6990 won't fit in the server case.

ill throw up pics for giggles tomorrow, cause the stryker is huge and my itx board is tiny :o

its very heavy. its got a handle that suggests it'll be good for moving/lans etc, but its not something I enjoy moving around. it says 14kg, but it feels like more. the 600T weighs 13kg apparently, and is definitely much lighter. dunno.
