well as i guessed. i can set max surround resolution of 3k x 1k. that ****y polarity crap that nvidia surround has... need to dig in to it now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,924 ✭✭✭✭ShadowHearth

Well, I can't get native resolution working in surround way thx to nvidia's polarity restrictions.
It really has nothing to do with VGA as it sees display adapter and not a VGA port. ( it would not work at all in the first place if it would not like VGA )
Problem is that even if I order one more 2312hm it can be different polarity to my other 2 monitors too...

I tried the trick where I would delete all screen drivers and install 2312hm on all of screens, but it did not worked for me. ( worked for others ). I will try it one more time as I might know one more way.

well, tried some BF3 with surround and it worked nice. will have to OC my gpu a wee bit though and lower some stuff to get better fps.

as soon as i quited BF3 the ****y monitor turned itself off. when i did a restart, resolution gone back to ****. had to go to nvidia panel and sort it back again to native... will do for awile i guess, but looks like i will be ordering one more 2312hm very very soon. ( trying not to go near CC )

Speaking of monitors, anyone seen these?

Being visually impaired, I don't much care that they're not 2560x1440, but damn, do they look hot. If they support VESA mounting (which I doubt, given LG's history) I'll be ordering at least one of the 27" models.

It should force the resolutions you set a few seconds after login when it starts.

does it do automaticly? as i need to go every single time to nvidia panel. disconnect surround. reset my main monitor and do a surround setup again to get native resolution.

it will mean me not tuning off pc that often or buying that proper third dell monitor asap.

annoying thing isthat it messing up with all my shortcuts on desktop too every single time it does that ****!

Lol if you can get tour dog to deal with couriers, breed that be-atch and make a fortune. Keep us posted re. setup.

no point of doing inside pics lol. its as messy as possible. i dont even know exact location of my m4 256gb. its somewhere in the case :D

*i am very very bad a cable managment. i need to go and sort it out someday. someday.....

500R is a lovely case and it is a lot better in this white/black design with blue led fans.

anyway. the only way i managed to force native resolution is by forcing 2312hm drivers on that old LG panel. so stupid NVIDIA then sees all the monitors as same make and same polarity. this is the only way i managed to get it working. i guess its going to be a bit annoying to be switching resolution and monitor location in settings every single time i restart or tuen on pc, but meh. it will do untill i get one more 2312hm.

As for my experience with surround gaming. its.... weird. very damn weird. i tryed test drive unlimited 2 and it was class, but you get so distracted by 2 extra screens with all the stuff on it! :D tryed some BF3 too, but i will need to tweek settings to get best playable FPS as i got quite a hit on fps at this resolution.

btw, do i need to download something extra to force skyrim in to 3 monitor setup? it does not let me to choose 3 monitor resolution... weird...

    Shadowhearth, for Skyrim, try:

    https://www.widescreenfixer.org/

    or

    https://www.flawlesswidescreen.org/index.php/Flawless_Widescreen

Re. the issue with res' changing, maybe could you use two DVI to VGA adapters for your two Dells, that way you will have three VGA? Might be worth a shot as a stop gap till you get another U2312..

    SweetbabyjeebssobadlyIwant!

    Those bezels are indecently skimpy:eek:

I was looking at their tellys in Currys the other day thinking how small TV bezels were getting, Samsung & LG especially, nice to see the same trend coming to their monitors too.

The holy grail for me is 3 x 1440p, 120hz & IPS or similar with decent vesa mounts.

@Shadow - did you get the stretching thing on nVidia cards on the side monitors?

on bf3 side monitors do have some weird stretching allright, but i guess thats just the way it works.

well, i just put all 3 monitor separately with no surround.

after all day fiddling around with it i will go back to single monitor on all main games and will go 3 monitors for driving games.

maybe the whole multymonitor setup with nvidia is just so anal or its just my problem with that damn third screen, but i am not really liking the experience.
another problem is that games that do not support 3 monitor setups just shut down side monitors, which is very annying. i love to have lots of crap on my side monitors, while playing games.
i cant say i like firs person shooters with those extra 2 monitors. way too much distractions, and not in a good way.
i am still happy with 3 monitors as i can arrange my desktop very efficient, but dunno about gaming... i am a weirdo i know! :o

Yeah, I moved all icons to my primary so they dont annoy me when I game.

I'm not sure I like it tbh - thinking about getting one nice big monitor again...

Or using the 3 not in eyefinity - it's really annoying that you can't full screen stuff without it shooting over all three displays.

Not sure if this is hardware discussion or not but ah sure :D

Thinking about adding a second GTX460 1GB to the rig once I have the rest of the upgrades done. By the looks of it, 460SLI seems to match GTX 580 performance, which would be more than enough for me, as I'm not that big into gaming these days, so I don't need GTX 670+ performance anyway.

Big plus is there's GTX460's on ebay for $100, upgrade to a 580 looks like €400. Any real downsides to SLI? Never really bothered with it before

Microstutter and sometimes poor scaling would be the main downsides.

Also, it means when you want to upgrade later it's going to cost a lot to see performance bettering two SLI'd mid-range card.

Later might be a long long time tbh. It's been something like 5-6 years since I built the rig, and while the graphics card has changed in that period, the only reason I upgraded from an 8800gtx was because of overheating issues, which turned out to be driver related in the end. I'm not the sort to upgrade every time a new card is released :)

I'd be willing to bet the next time I'm upgrading PCIe 3 cards will be fully utilized and cheap as chips
