You don't want to debate anything? Chelsea played terrible all last year.

I don't understand? Couldn't a mental patient, that's what you're insinuating I am, still post on Boards.ie from his bed via a Laptop? Are you a psychic? How the hell could you tell I was out of my bed? I find it equally disturbing that you think you can alert a nurse by posting on Boards.ie.

You sir, have lost the plot.

Also roll eyes make your point 100% more valid!

"You don't want to debate anything? Chelsea played terrible all last year."

And yet we still won 1 or was it 2 cups? One of which we made over £50 million from - fact
And what has "playing badly" got to do with not making the FPP rules?

You have no idea of what AVB's payout was - nor has anyone else outside the club and AVB.
You have no idea how far off we are from the FPP rules - indeed I've read that we arent that far off at all - again its all speculation - only the club knows

Why are we in "big trouble if we want to build a new stadium"?
that statement doesnt make any sense.
Its certainly a challenge to find a new home - but not big trouble!

I wont comment on other clubs and their managers cos again, we have no idea save a crystal ball and a time machine and the same goes for RDM.

WHo knows what the future holds, all that clubs can do is plan (and hope)

Finally - I love the "lucky" tag
Yep we were lucky all the way through that some of the best attackers in the world couldnt score enough goals against us ;)

Spot on and if the club is happy to pay 25 million for a player then I am confident that they know what they are doing while keeping in mind the FFP.

Chelsea are a long way off meeting the FFP rules. Hazard picked Chelsea for money. AVB's payout is half of what Chelsea earned from the champions league. The team overall still needs huge investment. I don't think Chelsea will be as lucky in Europe this season.

Chelsea are in big trouble, especially if they want to build a new stadium.
Also an unproven manager in charge. With Liverpool under Rodgers and Spurs making good moves in the market, Chelseas temporary spot amongst Europe's elite are numbered.

Chelsea were lucky last year. Let's not forget that.
Fairly sure any money spent on stadiums, training facilities, etc, aren't taken into account for the FFP rules. Also, I don't think AVB got much, if any, of a payout. Iirc he was payed his wages until he found employment elsewhere, and didn't receive compensation. Open to correction on that though, but after the disasters Chelsea made with Scolari and Ancelotti they made sure it wouldn't happen again.

That's a fake link is it? Says "www1.skysports.com"

You often see www1 or www2 on big websites. They're usually on different servers I think, and if one of them goes down (or is down for maintenance etc.) the other can be used.

Chelsea are going to be fine wrt FFP because UEFA aren't going to implement it properly. If they did implement it then not punishing Chelsea and City would be ludicrous. It's supposed to be about having a sustainable business model and neither of those clubs do or will have for quite a while. Chelsea were in huge debt before they splurged on Luiz, Mata, Lukaku, Cahill and AvB. The fact they have gone out and shot their load again is a joke. £25m for Ganso and £30m+ for Hazard = equals all of CL money gone and then some... Then you have to factor in Marin and whoever else they bought or are going to buy this summer. All this for a club which is already in £140m ish debt with a massive wage bill! Roman must know something we dont because for a club who needs to take out ads in the paper to try and sell tickets to its games they certainly dont seem to be worried about FFP. Either that or FFP is a pile of ****e which isn't going make any difference. In London Chelsea will always be a small club .. West Ham or Fulham with Money. They might have some fans around the world who are attracted to the success but I imagine they will disappear along with Roman and his millions and Chelsea will return to their rightful place in the football hierarchy

Not saying you're wrong or anything, but you certainly sound bitter towards Chelsea and why target them alone?

It does sound very bitter alright especially when you have clubs like PSG and City who bring in less money than chelsea each year and yet have been spending like crazy. City for example have multiple players on over 200k per week. I can count 5 chelsea players on over 100k. The point I'm making is that there are other clubs you could vent your FFP frustration at.

Just out of curiosity, how many players do you think are on over 200k a week at City and who are they?

Tevez, aguero, yaya toure off the top of my head had reportedly 200k+ contracts. I think adebayor was on 225k until he was sold recently.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

    Its not true though.

The only one I remember being close to genuine was Yaya, they had to pay him an extraordinary amount due to the difference in tax bands between Spain and England, pretty sure it topped out at 200k however.

I can check it out I guess, I would be very surprised if they had multiple players on 200k a week

    Tevez is on 140k
    Adebayor was 140k
Robinho when he was there was 160k hilariously!
    Barry is 120k
    Kolo Toure is 120k
Silva is between 150 and 165k

Don't let the tabloids fool ya is all I'm saying, these guys are on extraordinary salaries, but not the figures that get thrown about by the rags.

Concentrating on Chelsea or City with respect to the implementation of FFP is silly. Full actioning of FFP would smash the current iteration of Barcelona - the standard bearers of European football - into little itty bitty pieces. For as long as that is the case no-one will have the balls to meaningfully sanction any clubs.

I'm a Spurs fan... I'm very bitter. Drogba made me cry!

    Its a long standing joke.

Probably be off in the morning.

No idea why we need him - just to wind up AVB probably

No fear of FPP - we made over 50 million from being Champions of... you know how it goes!
Plus Drogba and a few other big earners have now departed. Plus the new TV deal

That's difference of just 10M to 12M from what you earned last season. (36 Million in 2011 and around 47Million in 2012) And the losses were around 60 Million isn't it? (Checked it, Exceptional items £41.9m out of £67.7m 2010-11 loss)

City are supposedly working very closely with uefa to ensure they'll meet the FFP. Chelsea are surely spending now while they can though, no?

Coincidentally, I have done a bit of digging around trying to figure how much he would cost, and it seems Santos were offered the chance to buy back 10% of his economic rights for 2million, they turned it down, you could take that as they value him at less then 20million :)

he's supposed to have a buyout clause of £45mil which they want
Tottenham and Arsenal have been warned over the asking price of want-away Santos star Paulo Henrique Ganso.

Ganso could be on his way to the Premier League after Santos finally admitted the Brazilian attacking midfielder would be on his way this summer.

"Ganso doesn't want to play for Santos anymore," vice-president Odilio Rodrigues told Lancenet. "We learned that from the club's president Luis Alvaro last Thursday.

"Ganso has lost his interest in Santos so we won't try to keep him anymore."

Rodrigues insisted Santos will hold out for Ganso's buy-out clause - rumoured to be in the region of £45 million for international clubs.

"We won't give up his buyout fee. Negotiations are open but the buyout fee has to be paid."

link + there's various others with the quote from the vice-president about holding out for the buyout fee
