That was reported last week but a few days later it was supposed to have broken down, think it was something to do with wages.

Surely money is no object for the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD 2012.

Tough to be European champions of another world in fairness.

I think he fancies RM more, is the problem, but the club doesnt agree with Mourinho over him - his age and wages

I'd be inclined to agree with Real on that, I don't think he is worth half the wages he is on at Inter.

Capello confirmed as the new Russia boss.

French football journalist Matt Spiro claims that Ancelotti has met Modric's agent and PSG are rumured to be willing to pay Spurs' €50m asking price.

€50m!! Ridiculous, but happy days if true! :D

Luciano Narsingh is on his way to PSV by the looks of things Was being linked them for awhile as well as Atleti and Ajax. Cracking little player. Reported fee of a measly 4.1M euros. If he continues his development like he has over the past couple of seasons, expect him to be sold for around 4 times that to a big European club in a year or two.

Absolute rubbish, Carlo Ancelotti has never talked to anybody's agent but his own in his life.

Leonardo is the sporting Director, he buys the players, does the negotiating, talks to the agents, makes the offers, Carlo just trains the squad and picks the team. He's a head coach, not a manager.

Yeah, that's what I thought, only reason I posted it was because the French journalist has over 14,000 followers and it actually wouldn't surprise me one bit of PSG are trying to get Modric.

Apparently they are tying up a deal for Marco Verratti at the moment, you seen much of him? I know he was in Serie Bbut he seems to be very highly rated.

Verratti is just about the best young midfielder in Italy, was the best player in Serie B last season, he plays in front of the back four, used to be an attacking midfielder and was moved back by Zeman because he felt he was wasted in the final 3rd.

He's kind of a young more mobile pirlo.

So they definitely won't be going for Modric then

Confirmed now. Signed a 5 year contract.

Without doing any digging into this, unless there is a pretty serious change of transfer/wage policy it is a non runner

How much is Ganso on with Santos?

About €20k per week iirc. He wanted a raise to something like €80k but Santos' offer was for only half that.

Thought he was on 40? The reports that came out said he was looking for 150k a week but since sponsors are already paying the majority of Neymars huge wages the club cant match his demands.

The transfer fee would not be cheap and I am certain the wage demands would not sit well with Arsenal if they are not going to loosen the purse strings in that regard.

I will be amazed if he does not end up in Italy anyway, he is too slow for the Prem imo, I guess the injuries he has had might have made a potential transfer cost less which maybe would bring Arsenal into it, not sure by how much though cause he still has third party ownership attached too which could get messy etc

The more I'm thinking about it the less it makes sense for Arsenal to move for him :) He just would not suit them at all I think. If they are gonna go Brazilian I could see Oscar being a nice fit for them funnily enough

Their president said they offered him €160k per month, take it or leave it. He rejected it because he wanted twice that which would be €320k per month or €80k per week.

Currently he is on something like $90k per month plus whatever he makes from his sponsorships. Either way he isn't struggling!

Maybe the figures I saw were in dollars and I didnt notice.

Nope not struggling at all, but I did hear someone saying he is one of the worst paid players at the club oddly enough :) Dont know if thats true

If it hadn't been for a couple of injuries maybe he would be a superstar by now, I don't think he is suited to England at all though, a formation like Milans a 4312 would be perfect for him imo, removes pretty much all defensive responsibilty from him etc

If he comes to England he will struggle imo because he lacks the physical presence or the quickness required, if he had either it would be something :)

I actually think he'd be grand in England, certain players don't need to be quick or strong, their positional sense and reading of the game make up for it.

Like, you'd hardly call Scholes fast or strong but everything else he does makes up for it.

Scholes is quite strong in fairness to him, re Ganso, I am a huge fan of his, but he has been on the wane the past few months imho, due in no small part to lack of fitness of course after the nightmare 2011, his decision making has been poor at times, more so then previously and people were starting to question how much longer he could be indulged in that regard as he has absolutely no interest in defending whatsoever. This is another area where he and Scholes are different.

Scholes has always did his job attacking and defending, Ganso would not be known for his defensive work. He does his best work playing just behind the strikers, not fancy step overs, just sexy through balls :) for him to be effective he must be accomodated I think, would be no use putting him on the left or right, dropping him back into midfield proper. He is a number 10 pure and simple.

Can Arsenal afford a "luxury" player like him? I am not sure. He would probably have a hard time from the media due to his relaxed manner also, described as passionless by some journos, Berba gets stick non stop, I think Ganso would receive the same treatment.

In the right enviroment, in the right team, he is a joy to watch, things he can do with a ball are brilliant, and as I said, I think Milan is a great fit for him, Arsenal not so much, my opinion of course, I could be wide of the mark.

Just to add, so as there is no confusion, of course there are players who can flourish despite not having strength or pace, I am only referring to this player specifically :)

Neymar for 60m?! I thought Barca were broke

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,554 ✭✭✭✭cson

We've done alright buying straight from Brazil in the past; Sylvinho, Edu and Gilberto being 3 off the top of my head that were successful in making the transition from Brazil to England.

I take on board what you're saying about Ganso though kyrogen, all I know of him is from playing as Brazil/Santos in Fifa 12. And he's pretty sexy in that! :pac:

    They are.

But the whole infinity overdraft from the Spanish Govt/Banks tends to smooth things over nicely. And they did sell out for €160m odd to sully the jersey with Qatar Foundation. More than a club indeed.

Most clubs have sponsors on their jerseys

My concern is not so much a Brazilian player transitioning from Brazil to England (I think Oscar would transition well for example) its more down to the team and style of play in the English game I guess.

Again, it is simply my opinion and if he was to move to Arsenal he could be fantastic :)

Coincidentally, I have done a bit of digging around trying to figure how much he would cost, and it seems Santos were offered the chance to buy back 10% of his economic rights for 2million, they turned it down, you could take that as they value him at less then 20million :)
The recent news that Santos were offered the opportunity to purchase an extra 10% of Ganso's economic rights (welcome to the third-party ownership system, kids) was also significant. For only 5m real (around £2m), the seaside club could have secured majority ownership of one of their major assets. Yet they turned the offer down. Conclusion? The club don't value Ganso at £20m (right, maths fans?!). Perhaps this is unsurprising: after all, the rumoured interest from Europe's big boys has cooled significantly in recent months

    That was in The Guardian.
