    N/A works for me.

Anybody else have that 7850? How is the cooler on it ? I am looking to overclock it a bit. Would 550w PSU be sufficient even for a mild overclock?

When ordering from hardwareversand, what should you put in for the zipcode? I mean, Ireland doesn't use zipcodes, so what should be used instead?
    I use REP 123

And every time you've ordered something from them it would get to your house?

It doesn't matter what you put in for the zip code, they'll only be looking at Ireland until it gets to Ireland. When it does, they know that we don't have the same kind of post codes and it will be delivered as normal. I just put in a Dublin post code, not that it matters much.

Corsair announces updates to its HX line of psu's, now gold certified, less circuitry, lower noise, and fanless operation at 'low load' levels. its also going to be the same price as the older models.

also a new flagship 1200i, with digital circuitry, allowing on the fly monitoring of current draw, efficiency, temperatures etc, fanless up to 480W power draw, and manual user defined fan speed control!

    Hi all,

I'm about to update my pc from 32bit to 64bit, whats the 1st step that I should take before updating this.

I know that most of my programs will be wiped out/ stored on windows old but I'm worried about stuff that documents pictures music etc.

    Everything will be gone.

    1) Back up you activation. I gave you a link to this before or you can find it in the windows guide in my signature.

    2) Back up everything you want to keep - program settings, documents, browser bookmarks, desktop...
Maybe you have another drive or you could partition off a segment?

    3) Install Windows.

    4) Install drivers and restore activation.

    5) Install programs and restore settings.

You could try windows easy transfer. It's in the start menu if you search for it. I've never tried it myself so I can't vouch for reliability.

I'll update my progress in a while.

Doing a back up on win7 is taking ages. its been 6hours already, is there any other software that I can use for the back up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

What did you back it up with? When I said backup, I meant more to pick out the bits you wanted. There's not that much point in backing up everything as you can't restore it all - it would overwrite the new system and you'd be back to the old!

A lot of backup programs have added compression so that's why it takes so long.

ok, so Ive backed up some of the programs on my pc, now I want to create bootable drive, but I have no usb.

    What can I do ?

I was thinking of using daemon tools to trick the PC that I have a CD installed, will that work ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

No because daemon tools will no longer be on the PC after it's been wiped! You'll no longer be in windows when it's being reinstalled anyway.

You need either a DVD drive or a USB stick. Or external USB DVD drive could work too. You could possibly use an SD card as well.

Be very careful what you're doing - you seem a bit unsure about it and I wouldn't like if you lost a load of data. Is the data that you want to keep on a separate partition? - i.e., different drive letter, not just another folder.

Initially I wanted to back up ll files and data on my PC but as you said there's no point, i have backed up what I really need on a different partition.

can this tutorial work, if not I will have to use my phone as a usb drive then ?

How did you get windows on in the first place?

Using your phone is probably possible assuming that you have a big enough memory card. I know with some phones, you can just plug them in and you can access the memory card immediately like any USB device. It's usually additional memory cards that act like this and not internal memory.
It depends on how your phone interacts with the computer, having a dedicated memory card, possibly needing to wipe this memory card and having a big enough card.

It would be easier just getting a loan of a USB drive. 4GB at least.

This data you want to keep, where does it live, exactly? (C:\Backup\My data\ for example)

You're making your life potentially a lot more complicated by using your phone. If you can wait a couple of days for delivery, you can order a USB drive for less than €6. And just use that. Or as Mono says, just grab one off a friend for a day.

I heard that ASUS are releasing new designs on the Z77 sabertooth. In this video at about 8:30-9:00 there is some pictures and discussion. Some nice designs, the ''Ammo Depot'' looks like something out of Fallout (my favorite series :D) then theres the ''Gears of Tuf'' (yes thats the name :O) which looks like a steampunk design and lastly there is the ''Desert Warrior'' which is like a desert version of the original sabertooth, its OK.

Haswell to use "DDR4, up to 160W tdp, and 190A current draw" with potential overclocks in the 300W region.

that's a lot to keep cool on air...

It's a lot to upgrade at the same time as well. Just hope it's compatible with current coolers.

Ok so I've managed to put all windows 64 files and folders into my phone. ATM I'm
    Installing windows it's taking ages.

Does my oc automatically recognise that I need 64bit,
Only difference from my pc prior to this is just the ram.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

LOL, you really like doing things the hard way. Of course it takes ages; it's only designed for sending a few photographs in mind.

When the 64-bit OS is installed, all your RAM should be recognised.

Just finished installing it and it worked !!!! It's using 5.75gb of 6gb ram available.

I wonder if I can max this to 7.5gb when I add another stick of ram tomorrow.
