Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's very quiet on this tonight. Is everyone out on a date tonight except me?
So I decided to bite the bullet and sign up for POF tonight. Will see how long I last. I see my ex is on it too. Damn I thought he'd stick to OKC and I could have POF!

Thank God for that. I thought my cougar comment broke the thread!

I have one on Saturday. I had to reschedule because a school reunion type thing decided to coincide with the exact time of the date. So I moved the date to another time... now it clashes with the Arsenal - Chelsea match. I'm hopeless. >_<
Oh well, no football for me on Saturday.

    What you do?

  • Registered Users Posts: 556 ✭✭✭MudSkipper

just been catching up on the thread and I notice several themes recurring:

the he/she viewed me, so i messaged and they're not replying.... everyone clicks on profiles based on a thumbnail, no matter how sophisticated their search criteria. Clicking a thumbnail does not mean they are interested, just curious ;) When I was active I must have clicked at least a thousand different profiles and passed on 990 of them without sending so much as a 'hi' mail. Does not mean I broke 990 hearts does it, even if I visited their profile again due to new pics, etc. Ask yourself how many profiles you've visited and have you broken their heart for checking them out but not contacting? No ofcourse not, so dont take it to heart if someones visits your profile and doesnt message.

AFAIK the 'who viewed me' page on PoF lists the people who viewed your profile at some time, the bar at the top lists users who once viewed you, ordered by their last online activity....... the clue is 'online activity', if someone constantly shows up in that list does not mean they keep viewing that profile just that they're signed into PoF. Also on PoF you can turn off if someone can see that you've visited their profile at all so they wont show up at all.

The 'meet me' feature is only a clone of the original 'hotornot' website, people use it to browse larger versions of the thumbnail pics and 'rate' them.... there is no point in reading anything more into it, as there simply isn't anything.

Unfortunately being ignored after 1 or 2 dates is par for the course these days (both online and IRL dating) as common courtesy seems to be disappearing. It sucks but if someone is an a$$hole that early on then best of without them anyway.

The best way IMO to approach online dating is to not take it too seriously, life is too short :) I've been there and used to fret over who viewed me, if/when were they online, why havent they replied to my cute message and so on. Once I developed a thicker skin, ignored the ignorant ones and took online dating for what it really is: just another way to meet people (including pr!cks, etc same as in IRL), I met the most wonderful girl through PoF :):)

    Sorry for long post :o

This should be posted at the start of this thread. Or before you log onto these dating sites. :)

    I also have one Saturday.

Would suggest that the person so annoyed over missing the Arsenal match could always re-arrange to make it a drink in a sports bar rather than a coffee. Just a suggestion :p

I'm always in two minds about whether I should redo a Pof profile and put up pics again but I can't seem to commit to doing it.

Commitmentphobe with a profile, what'd I be like down the line eh...

Sure just stick one up and see what happens. You can always hide it if it gets annoying. :)

Can you hide it? I could never get used to the whole thing especially when a sister's friend, who is on the site spotted my profile and said it to me on a night out over Christmas. I took it down not long after that.

There's not many people to browse through around these parts though which I find off putting.

I hate being found on those sites. My best friend's friend found me on POF today. He knew me from facebook stalking me and was able to tell me my name, mention pictures I have up on my Facebook and who my friends are. Creepy as hell. And now he's hitting on me. So I ran away and stopped replying.

Try having your brother and cousin in your matches. :o I hid mine for a while after that.

Yes, you go into Edit Profile and there's an option.

People have stated that a downside of online dating outside cities. I guess you'd have to think about maybe travelling a bit? I dunno.

After an annoying couple of days thanks to a timewaster off POF I have arranged a dinner date and a few drinks with a find looking lady who seems really nice.....fingers crossed it all goes well.

Oh and the menu in the restaurant has crocodile and kangaroo on it......anyone tried either? She is planning to stick to what she knows but I am the adventurous type (just with my food.....for now)

Both are nice.Crocodile is like a fishy meat while kangaroo is a real red meat.If it was kangaroo steak that's what I'd go for
