It's not supposed to though is it? I did this on my Brava so it'd work when the dash lights were on. had headlight switch always switched on so they'd come on with the ignition. If I wanted the radio on with the key out I'd turn the key anticlockwise to parking light position

Nearly done, but done enough to drive around with.

Its on a timer, on for 1 hour. Its the newer type one (should have clarified the AD182 H3). Rare as rocking horse poo due to people wanting a cd player (the 6 cd changer was very hard to get when new)

    One just like this

In my van I use a JDM Pioneer DEH something (I'll get the model later) simply for the amplifier :)

Took out the creaky double din fascia / lidl stereo and put back in oem stereo with the parrot car kit. Also rerouted the cables for the parrot. Ran the mic up the a-pillar and moved the display off to the side of the dash.

I now live the guts of 60 miles or more from the home place so rang the motor factors to drop out the stuff to service the micra to the father's and got them off him on friday. Never checked them until today while in the middle of servicing it to see I was given the wrong sparkplugs. At least the oil and filter were ok! Also put new wipers on it and changed the brake fluid and adjusted the rear shoes. Not sure if the brakes will go through NCT as its '98 and everything is original and the pads and shoes were a bit shiny so I've sanded them a wee bit and can feel an improvement.

Today I spent about 3 fruitless hours trying to figure out a way of connecting the iphone to the saab head unit. Only way appears to be with an fm modulator, so feck that. I was hoping to be able to use the cd changer port, but all my googling is telling me no

Meh. One of the cooloest things about the Bravo was the flip up lid on the stereo.

I have one of these in a press somewhere if you want it
    radio1.jpg

Was that unit used in the Marea or something?

Dunno if you're old enough to remember the advert Fiat ran when the Bravo/Brava was launched? The internet had just came out, and it involved 2 teenagers looking up the fiat website in their dads study when they shouldn't have been, and marvelling at the fact that it had a digital stereo. anyway they get caught in the end, but the old geezer says "which should we get?" Hilarious stuff indeed. Good ad at the time though.

Cheers but I have 2 of those radios somewhere at home ;)

The flap was a great novelty untill it broke (in the mid 90s my dad had 2 Mareas as taxis)

The radio I put in is from a very late car, a few extra bits and bobs over the flap radio. I think it can take a car phone for example :)

When these cars came out first I was 5 sadly too young to remember any of the ads :( however I remember the Peugeot 406 ad of the same year strangely....

But I always remember seeing them new in 96 and they looked so modern back then, almost futuristic. They still fit in to this day :)

The feeling you get when you look at your own car gleaming is only good when you do the work yourself ;)
