The one bliss about a silver car, you can never tell when it's dirty or not :pac:

Not true! I could see dirt and swirl marks all over the RX8!

Great results there Voodoomelon. What did you top it off with?

    Thanks!

Nothing yet, two of us bought this kit between us: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/kestrel-das-6-pro-menzerna-polishing-kit-medium-hard-paint.php?cPath=71

So i'm just using the coarsest pad and coarsest polish to start, then the lightest pad and lightest polish to finish. We have a few waxes but I want to get the whole car corrected first. Or is there a better way? Still learning.

That's the way I did the Toledo..
Deep cut first and worked down
Then topped it off with a coat of Wolfs Body Wrap

i would start with a finishing pad and a light cut polish if your not use to it. gives you a better feel for it and less chance of doing damage.

a lot depends on the car too. some have a lot softer paint than others. on my leon it took high cut pad and polish to remove some of the marks wher as on the 206 a finishing pad and mild cut polish done the same job

Would this amount do the whole car vectra? Once or twice?http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/wolf-39-s-chemicals-nano-body-wrap/prod_901.html

Depending on the size of the car
They say up to 10 standard size cars ( family saloon )

So far I have covered the equal of 4 cars and I still have more than half bottle left.

    *EDIT*
I have read reports of using this over gives super results

two coats X 4 times = 8 coatings in total = close on 2 years?
    Good value

Dude, you'd see swirl marks on the Koh-i-Noor! :p

I'm actually beginning to think the swirl marks are etched on your cornea tbh! :pac:

They used a Kestrel with medium pad and Menzerna medium cut polish on that so there's no way that could have swirls!

Spent 8 hours cleaning her today ... still not done :o

Front seats out for vacuuming, spare wheel holder removed for painting, rear lenses & numberplates whipped off too :D

Got her de-tarred & clayed today. First time ever using a clay bar and reasonably happy with how it went. Used nearly 3/4 of the bottle of lubricant on it though

Put a coat of wax on after but temps were dropping so it didn't polish off properly. :( Tomorrow will see another coat of wax along with doing all the windows & interior. If I have time I'll be painting the inside of the arches & cleaning up the wheels too.

The rear bumper after a quick spray of white spirits - I hate tar!

Another 3 hours and have the whole back of the car, rear wings and c-pillars done on a 2-step process.

This is tiring work, and only 1/4 of the way there.

Random question folks - any suggestions as to how to clean up chrome parts?

Vinegar and tinfoil, rub VERY lightly.
    It's a chemical reaction, AFAIK.

That is looking ace.. Gonna look something with a coat or 2 of wax over it.. I have heard Petes 53 gives super results on darker colors.

Yeh gonna look into waxes, might try that.
Also thinking of respraying the whole black trim, any paint recommendations?

There's nothing wrong with that unless the owner decides to imply its something it is not. Would not be my cup of tea but it looks like a lot of work has gone into it.
