You could stay in a B&B, single rooms usually start form about €35/40.

Is there a B&B nearby you can stay in?

I'm doing some investigating now.. I don't know the town at all so that's not helping. Hopefully I can sort this out.

I'm kinda the same tbh. Will have to get past that though, can't really afford anything else.

It's so difficult to get anywhere in this country. I need to get to the Mullingar Park Hotel at the end of May for the IVNA Annual Congress. Need to be there for 8am to register and I looked at the trains and the first one isn't until 8.50 and I'd have to change twice and it would take around 4 hours to get there. Hmmm. What to do now.
Jane get a bus/train to Athlone and then get the bus from Athlone to Mullingar.

I live in Mullingar so if you've any questions at all PM me.

The Park Hotel is a 20min walk outside town and would cost around €6 or more for a taxi to/from town.

Have you looked at the Austin Friar hotel? It's on Austin Friar st which is fairly central.

There's the Annbrook hotel too, but that's quite expensive. There's also the Newbury hotel at the Green Bridge, which is about a 10-15min walk into the centre of town.

I don't know of any B&Bs but I'll ask my boyfriend, he'll know :pac:

Sounds like someone upstairs has been having very vigorous sex for about the last hour... dunno whether to be bothered by the noise, or want to high-five them for their stamina :pac:

I'd planned to get a bus/train on the day but they're at very awkward times.. I'm Googling at the moment but thanks so much for the reply Muffin. :) x

The "If you could have told your future self something, what would it be?" thread is interesting. I posted there a couple of days ago but it's had me thinking a lot. I know I'm going to reply to that thread again.

I was in Card Gallery on Grafton St. last weekend and there was a Septic Tank asking the girl at the till if they sold gentlemen's watches. I immediately thought of that thread. Her face was priceless.

We do in my family! Only we tend to drop the second word most of the time. It confuses the hell out of people.
