There's 3 or 4 Sky Sports News ones better than her.

Funny hearing Croft saying a couple of things that are way more relevant in radio commentary. :pac:

I cant even make out the grooves in wet and inter tyres on my stream. Looks like they're driving on slicks. :|

Anyone else using the live timing on formula1.com? The numbers and times are showing up as weird symbols for me.

    Fine for me in Firefox.

EDIT: Gone already. Looks fine, no updating though.

Setanta are supposed to be using the BBC commentary (TV comms for qualifying and race, 5Live audio for practice) but, unsurprisingly, they've managed to f**k that up already right from the start.

It was the same last year, they couldn't manage to sync up the BBC audio with the world feed pictures properly until about six races into the year. Until then, the audio was always out slightly, especially evident on the onboards where the sound of the gearchanges clearly didn't match the pictures.

*edit* See they've finally managed to switch the BBC audio on now. Wonder if it's synced properly. Will have to wait to see an onboard to tell.

It's grand when there are no cars on track but as soon as they go out and sector times start changing it goes weird. I'll try IE and Firefox now there is a car out.

Edit: IE is the same, weird symbols. I'll download Firefox and see.

The cars look nice for a second when they're directly in line with the camera. Then they turn... ugh

I've got the Sky Sports feed streaming on the laptop here and I'm really surprised to see these team video summary things they keep inserting, as well as them cutting to Brundle in the pits. I thought Bernie was extremely protective of his world feed pictures and insisted that TV companies weren't allowed to put their own stuff in over the world feed (with the exception of Speed in the US who he's always given a dispensation to) once the 5-minute sting was shown. Seems like Sky must have slipped him an extra brown envelope to turn a blind eye! ;)

Having taken a good look at the on-board shot we've just seen from the Red Bull, sure enough, the audio is out of sync on Setanta again!

I thought they finally got those issues sorted out by the end of last year, seems they've forgotten how to get it right again and it's back to square one as we were last year.

Pft... BBC wouldn't go to an ad break...

lol, yeah I tried IE and FF and they are both the same. I had a lot of problems with it last year too, was hoping they would sort it out this year because I use it a lot.

Very impressed with the Sky coverage so far!

At my Dads watching it; he has Sky Sports, i don't.

Went on to Sky.com this evening to set up his account, signed up to Sky Go so I'm going to register my own PC at home tomorrow as the second device and l should be able to to watch the season at my own place for free!

I'm not liking it. It feels like a very NASCAR-esque style of presentation, cutting away from the on-track action for an interview or feature or report or whatever. I think it's a good idea but it would be much better if it was in a small picture-in-picture box in the corner of the screen rather than cutting away completely from the world feed. At least that way you wouldn't miss any on-track action.

If they cut away like that during the race, there's going to be complaints galore from a lot of the Sky viewers, I'm sure.

the merc looks nice and planted i know its on low fuel but not spinning up or sliding as much as last years car, still a good bit to go pace wise ofc

Mercedes too looked solid. Redbull keeping things on the qt at the minute

Watching the season reviews makes me see why people compare Prost and Alonso so much. Prost would manage to drag crap and broken cars through races and it looks like Alonso is dragging a piece of crap around that track much more quickly than it should be.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,987 ✭✭✭ottostreet

There's no doubting Alonso's car control anyway, would have been very very simple to bin that into the wall.

Mercedes do look strong, but I reckon theyll slot in 6th-8th by raceday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭Grim.

pissing it down again ffs

I'm usually a fan of wet races but any rain like that during a race or competitive session and it'd just be mayhem.
