There is no doubt he is playing deeper which concerns me both as a FF player and a newcastle fan. I ll leave it this week and then he might be out.

When I switch Agüero to Rooney in the next few game weeks I'm debating stitching Ba to Balotelli. I know he scored on his return but that was before he switched to a deeper role in the second half. Cisse is a poacher and will always play close to the goal mouth. Ba has usually come back deep but he was previously the only target up front. I think for his price now some of his value is gone considering his competition for points. I'll give him this week before making any real plans to off load him.

You watch, you'll get your team nicely set up to make the most of that gameweek then half of them will appear doubtful. I've already got two injured players I wanted to use for those games - Vorm (Swansea) and Kelly (Fulham). I'm hoping they'll recover in time.

Currently third in my money league. Winner gets 600, second gets 300 and third gets 120.

I was 8th five weeks ago and 90/75 poins behind first/second. I'm now 53/44 points behind. Fourth is 20 points behind.

Slowly catching up with some good differentials. I think I have the beating of the guy in second who brought in some poor picks into his wildcard team. The guy in first place has a very simialar team to me and has his wildcard available. He'll be tough to catch.

Ya mean blackburn and sunderland for gw 29 not lpool and eve twice?

That's annoying, they've given us no time really to plan ahead on this one.

Strongly thinking of swapping BAE for Skrtel. Spurs have United (A), Everton (H) and Chelsea (A) over their next three fixtures, AND they have no match in GW 29.

I'll only get 5.6 for BAE but Skrtel always gets forward for corners, think he's worth the extra cash.

Perhaps a strongly worded letter to the FPL, condemning them for putting their multi-million TV deals and strict local policing laws ahead of your fantasy game will sort them out? I think we may have a case against them.

Chances are any fixtures postponed for gw29 will be held midweek of the same week, it wont change anything, its just a matter of the clubs sorting it out between themselves, and maybe the tv guys, we've already seen a couple of clubs change it to midweek, i expect the others to follow, the Tottenham and Chelsea games will probably be rescheduled last, since they both have FA cup replays to worry about in the meanwhile. Panic transferring might just come back to bite you in the ass. That said, i suggest you all transfer Kompany out and replace him with Emerson Boyce

Cisse doubtful for the weekend, so I might hang on to Ba until at least next week. Was going to swap them today.

I made a horrible mistake this week..... that mistake was leaving Ryan Shotton 3rd on my bench. He had been annoying me for the past few weeks, usually coming in as a sub for a 1-pointer when he comes on for a few minutes at the end of each game. I was gonna drop him this week but I needed my transfer so I put him 3rd sub instead. What a huge mistake. The only reason he had been on my team in the first place was because he was down as a defender for a pretty decent defensive side (Stoke for those who don't know) and he plays out of position on the wing. He got my 10 points this week, 10 points which I didn't receive, as I watched my first 2 subs come on for Richards and Rooney with a grand total of 3 points!

So anyway, I've been doing research after last weekends game and it seems Shotton could well start for Stoke from now on as it seems Pennant is being dropped. Pulis said after the game that he has "big plans" for Shotton. At 4.0, a defender for Stoke, playing on the wing with plenty of ability and a great attacking mind. If he gets a starting place from now on he will be huge. Keep an eye out lads, something to ponder if you need a decent 4 mil option.

I wouldn't call that a huge mistake at all. Sounds like rational FF play to me.

You made the correct call in putting him as your 3rd sub based on the information that was on hand at the time. Pennant had somewhat regained favour and Shottons game time had taken a severe hit over the past few weeks. Unless it was public knowledge that Pennant was going to be dropped after his previous performance which I was unaware of?

This whole concept of after-timing is one of my biggest pet peeves within the game. Players shouldn't feel entitled to the points that remain sitting on their bench. It's up to you* to select your best XI and order your subs as you see fit. It's as much a part of the game as picking the correct captain.

As for Shottons long term prospects? I'll be waiting a few weeks to see if he can nail down a starting place. I had him for that nice run of starts he clocked up over the winter and would be interested in getting him back in.

    * By "you" I mean FF players in general. I'm not having a go at yourself here but it's just something that I come across quite a lot.

really hard decision this week, mclean sess or sig on the bench? leaning towards mclean because i have sunderland cover with sess and i can see sig getting at least an assist at wigan! althought the last 2 times i took sess over mclean he outscored sess :L

I should have said... Caulker was my 2nd sub. I really did not want to double him up with Vorm so I was really considering putting Shotton in 2nd sub. If i had, he would've come on so I feel I missed out badly there and made a mistake. Previously, I had Shotton 1st or 2nd this was the first time i put him 3rd because I was fed up of him.

I made the mistake of putting in Dyer instead of Shotton from my bench for Valencia .

Again, I still don't think it was a mistake. You were just unfortunate and this happens within the game. You made a call that Shotton was your least valuable player out of you squad of 15 based on his previous 3 gameweeks. Most people would have thought he was more likely to get 1/2 points as opposed to the 10 he got.

Was not having him in your first team ahead of Richards a mistake? Or any player that scored less than 10 points?

    Personally, I don't think so.

I had him on my bench, but cause Richards didn't play, as did neither of my other two subs, Shotton came on :pac:

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Next season a pub will have a free entry league with £1,000 going to the winner.

The main aim is to advertise the pub so the code will be available on the internet and there wont be any restrictions on the number of teams a person can enter.

I would expect in excess of 1,000 entries.

Looking for advice on how best to run the league:

How many weeks in to the league would you recommend I close entry?

What way do you think is best to verify identity of the winner? I am thinking of asking for the winner to email their login email and password along with a scanned image of their passport and make payment by cheque.

I may also offer a monthly winner prize of £100 if it would generate extra interest.

Any other recommendations or prizes you can think of?

    Thanks.

I own a small "Party Planning & Events Management" business, and I've run things for bars doing similar games and such in the past... so I can tell you these things can be great for getting arses in seats.

I'd advertise early, get the majority signed up pre-season, and build the hype over GW1&2, then close it at 11:30am as GW3 begins. Or, to keep it simple, just keep it open until the transfer window closes on Sept 1st... which is around GW3 anyway.

Since the goal is to advertise the bar, there's no point in shutting it off as soon as GW1 starts... give it time to build interest, and have signs up for all those who show up to watch the games, since they're going to be your best bet for spreading the word. You'll know yourself. It might take off great and give you enough in 3 weeks, or it could take 6-7... just take it as it comes, don't burden yourself with a definite closing date at the start.

The simplest way to verify the winner is to have them collect their winnings at the pub and access their account in front of you. Which brings me onto what I think would be the best way to advertise the pub; A round of free drinks (or whatever you deem an acceptable prize) for the monthly high scorers and things like that will get punters into the pub. The players aren't likely to show up alone, so you're getting more people into the pub who may not otherwise use it. One free drink for 5 people can suddenly turn into 25 more drinks that they pay for.

And it's probably best to stagger the overall winnings, for the top 3-5, and not just top spot.

Just throwing the codes up on the internet is fine, but you have to consider how useless it is to be advertising to someone who's never going to visit your bar, whether it's because of their location, or whatever. So while I think that yes, you should leave it open to anyone, you should also push the whole "come to the bar to collect your winnings" thing.

If you're not happy with that, maybe give out the main prizes at the end of the season via cheque, but I'd strongly recommend having monthly prizes as things they have to pick up. Prize-money is fine, but a round of drinks thrown in too is almost a necessity if you're going to sell your bar to them.

If it's the kind of bar with regular clientèle, having a score-board up with all the regulars highlighted would add to the banter.

I think this is a great idea, and there are literally tons of things you can do to get the bar in people's heads.

Yep, its as if they don't even take my team into consideration at all.

Does the pub show Premiership football?

If so, and if done right, this could be a real winner

First of all, forget putting the code up on the net. Get people to come into the pub. Have an entry form: Name, Email, Team name. As far as i know you can invite people to the league via email. Otherwise you'll have every Tom Dick and Harry entering who'll never go near the pub. You don't want that.

The more people you get into the pub the better. Advertise it. In the pub window, even on the radio. I suggest a €5000 euro prize fund. Bear with me.

    €2500 overall winner
    €1000 overall second
    €500 overall third
€100 bar tab for monthly winners (x10)

There's many ways you can make the money back. Print off flyers to give to people entering. You'll also have their email addresses. You can have a 'Football happy hour', during Premiership matches, €3 a pint for the first hour or something. Every month you can have a Fantasy Football Night, kick it off with a televised match, later you can announce the monthly winner, the 'top of the table standings', you can have promotions and spot prizes as well if you like. Over the course of the season i'd say you could earn the pub a mint. It's all about getting punters into the pub. Just some ideas

I started him last weekend as had a hunch, he is great value when he plays, its the rotation risk that makes him a nuisance cos when he doesnt start he comes on for a few mins.

Funnily was going to transfer him out if he didnt start last weekend will keep him now.

Liverpool Qpr is on the wednesday now so could be vital.

    Gw looking like:

    Aston Villa v Bolton
    Blackburn v Sunderland
    Fulham v Swansea
    Man City v Chelsea
    Newcastle v Norwich
    QPR v Liverpool
    Wigan v West Brom
    Wolves v Man Utd

I would say city chelsea game be cancelled if chelsea win their replay.

Not sure that was the best idea... I can see that some threads are repetitive but surely the point of the new forum was to be able to segregate different topics for discussion?

This will just be a repeat of the thread in the soccer forum.

Yeah, but is was a bit mad just to have different threads about who you should drop Valencia for and when should you get Demba Ba in.

I agree, the whole point of this sub forum was to be able to navigate it easy and view the topics you wished to discuss, now we are back to everything muddled in together, we could of just stayed in the soccer forum where the traffic was already there.

There were only 4 or 5 new threads a week surely this isnt too much? think ill stick to fiso for the foreseeable future until a proper structure is shaped here.

The clean up was far too excessive. Can't see myself using the forum too much in the long term if this is the way forward.
