So there's about 15-20 of us landing down for the weekend. I'd like to organize something on the Saturday morning that doesn't involve getting pissed (just for an hour or two :pac:)

Go Karting was an idea but they're all booked out til 17:30 which means that's out the window

    Any suggestions?

As you may suspect this comes up quite often in this forum :)
You can use the search feature top right on the forum page and search for "stag", it'll give you these hits

    Casino across the road.
    Strip Club again.
Roisin Dubh til close or one of our fine nightclubs (if that's what you're after).
Cheeky few tins or bottle of wine wandering the streets.

    Hi,
We are going to a Hen Party this weekend in Galway for 2 nights. We have Saturday day and night planned. We need somewhere for dinner on Fri evening and pubs/late bars to go to. Can anyone recommend some places? I know the Quays, Taafes, Naughtons and Kings Head. Would most pubs be Hen friendly?
    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Pubs/bars, just stick to Shop Street - many bars there for Hens.
Eat, McSwiggans or Tamarind are good for large groups.
They are located on either end of Shop Street.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,023 ✭✭✭hairyfairy00

Was in the Tamarind 2 weeks ago for my cousins hen night, i can't recommend it enough. The food was divine and they also had a great offer, 3 courses for €30!

+1 for Tamarind & they also have cocktails.

Or you could head to the g hotel for cocktails also.

    Any lookers in the party?

Now, now, Red Wake ... she's hardly going to tell you that all her friends are ugly. Or married. Or psychopaths.

Have booked Tamarind, thanks for the recommendation :)

Red Wake - I'm the only one ;)

    Hi,

I'm going on a stags to Galway and was wondering if anyone would know of a pub around Eyre Sq that might do a BBQ for the whole group on the Saturday evening.

Plus (and i know this is on a few other threads) and good suggestions for things to do that aren't too far out from the city center.

    Thanks

    Hi folks,

Firstly my apologies in advance for not alone the fact that this has been topic has been done to death and also that I live in Galway so I should know but as times change with the fun recession and stuff, what are the stag night friendly bars in Galway that would be happy to take money off sixteen lads dressed as pirates this weekend?

The ones I can think of are Quays, Buscar Browns, Coyotees, Kings Head, Front Door (possibly), the Townhouse and Monroes (possibly)? Are there any other options that I'm forgetting?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 253 ✭✭xo.mary

Club K and Fibbers are stag friendly.

Normally I would recommend the Stage Door, but I think that's actually been shut down, hasn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,724 ✭✭✭The Scientician

The Dáil is stag friendly too. The time I was there a few months back it was a good laugh.

The former Stage Door is now Muddy Mahers.
    Coyotes is definitely stag friendly.

Where would be a good place to go for cocktails for a hen party. My partying days are long gone so haven't a clue but organising for a friend. Any other suggestions? Wouldn't by typical bunch of hens-not looking to get plastered but would like a good time. Something a little different from your run of the mill hen. Not confined to city either.

Kellys do nice cocktails as well, down on Cross Street (used to be The Living Room)

I was at a hen last summer in Galway. Think there were around 20 of us. We got an area reserved for us in the House Hotel for drinks, and another area reserved for us in a nightclub - might have been Halo. I'm not sure if whowever booked it actually said it was a hen night, might have said it was a birthday. But we had no hassle at all.
We booked our meal in Cava, and my only complaint would be that when we went in, they had us at two separate tables. Our sergent-major-type bridesmaid soon got them to join the tables, though they didn't really want to.

My sister had her hen in November we went to The Quays, they reserved an area for us until 11.30pm. The Skeff, Harbour Hotel are all very welcoming too, It might be a good idea to phone a few place to see if they do allow hen parties!
There was about 25 of us and all within the same age range as yourself!

Galway's generally grand for hens. The only place I can think of where you might want to go that deliberately excludes them is Halo nightclub.

  • Registered Users Posts: 62 ✭✭piscesgirl1

I would go with a friday night instead of sat. Had my sisters hen in galway last april. Did a cocktail making class and dinner in the house hotel and then went to the quays. It was a Saturday night so it was a bit busy for the older members of the group. Other than that brilliant!

a lot of places in town had hens banned but over the last couple of years that has all changed. The pubs need all the business they can get now so hens are usually looked on as a good thing now. You should have no bother. the pubs need the money, and when they need the money, all rules go out the window. :D

According to their website "Halo does accept Hen Parties but only Hen Parties without costumes" -and sure by that time of night the fluffy pink cowgirl hats are usually in a pile somewhere anyway!:D

If you meet any problems in Galway, try Westport - facilities described on Mayo section of this board,

most pubs are now very welcoming to hen nights but some still have a ban on the costume side of things, its to keep what locals they have left happy as well.

What bar / club serves drinks until the latest in Galway on a Friday nite? Heading down tomorrow on a stag and hear most places stop serving at 2am?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 394 ✭✭hayser

Can anyone recommend a good nightclub for a hen party in Galway near Eyre Square? There would be around 35 of us and we don't have to wear the usual hen stuff if the nightclub doesn't allow it (although it would be preferable to do so). Thanks in advance

    Hi all,

Galway city residents are probably sick to the back teeth of rowdy stag groups taking over Shop street at the weekends but i would greatly appreciate some feedback please.

I'm looking at organising a stag for about 20 lads in May. What is the general policy of the main pubs in the city at allowing such size groups in? Would hate to go, have a good nite early on and then get split up all over the place. No heavy drinkers, just a bunch of lads out for a saturday night having the craic?

Thanks in advance for yer replies!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81,220 ✭✭✭✭biko

Merged with the main stag/hen thread. You'll find many suggestions /answers here.
To make it less obvious just go in groups of four/five when entering the place you want to go to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,479 ✭✭✭Comic Book Guy

A few of us are on a stag this weekend in Galway.

I am looking for some ideas for a few nice pints on Saturday afternoon.

Not interested in the usual places like Quays, Kings Head etc.

A pub with a nice pint of Guinness and able to watch the England Wales rugby game would be ideal

    Thanks
