Schuh. Got the last pair in Dublin I think. Was in Dundrum on Sunday, they'd an 8 and a 7 on display, asked for the match of the 8, and there was none. Had a pair in Liffey Valley they put on reserve for me and collected em yetserday.

Brilliant, I've (possibly) found my excuse for doing no study this morning!! Cheers dude!!

Have you tested your front squat?

If not, are you going to?

I lost 5kg in 2 days and a week of training mid cycle, and added back in BJJ on top of everything. I don't know if I could finish it, or if there'd be any point.

    How is Hanley.ie going?

Couple of articles written and ready to go... Still need to dial a few things in on the site properly before I throw a link in my sig etc. Working 10-12 hour days, PT'n and doing my own training is kinda eating up all of my time at the mo :(

Went out for 2k in my Merrell's last night... 1 minute run + 1 minute walk, not sure if that counts as a training session but it's recorded anyway.

Certainly "feel" quicker in them combined with modifying my running style a bit. Could all well be in my head tho.

I couldn't get mine! I wanted them as a backup/next step to my Saucony Mirage's? How are your calfs after? I was too eager to get going in mine when I got them last month & I was in bits due to my ****ed ankles. Have been just walking in them since & sticking to my old stability runners while I (re)build up my mobility. Just walking everywhere & doing short sprints in them has made a huge difference....I think!
Are you using any particular system to change your style?

    <<Who is she...>>

    BJJ - 1hr 45mins
    -conditioning drills to warm up
    -pummelling
    -arm drags
    -arm drag takedown
-half guard to dogfight to knee tap
    -lots of first point rolling

Starting hour 24 of work since 7am Tuesday morning, more if you include PT'n. Needless to say I'm quite tired, and leaning up nicely.

Starting diving classes in the NAC on Thursday... and have pretty much agreed to do a Tough Mudder race in London in May.

Very tough week in work so really wasn't interested in anything too physically taxing. My back and hips were shot to bits from about 40 hours of sitting at my desk on in my car over 3 days so went with some power work in the form of single leg box jumps instead of power cleans. Then I was thinking and realised my pure power numbers aren't THAT bad, but my reactive strength is pretty crap, so revisited it with some reactive box jumps later on. I didn't count my number of foot contacts during the session, but I know they were too high. Gonna try keep them in 20 range 2x per week.

The strength stuff was alright - mighta pushed 5s on the bench. REally not ALL that concerned once it keeps moving. Would like to press 140kg and squat 200kg again this year at <90kg while still training BJJ hard.

Gunzz cos I want big arms and will try to have a bit of arm work in every gym session this year.

    Nice simple session. Happy out.

    Glutes

    Wheee
    Bounding over hurdles:
    5x5

    Box Jump:
Up to the big box + 6x 25kg plates (did the same plus 7x plates reactive so seems like I’m coming off the right height box)

    Ooofff
    A1) Weighted Dips:
    BW x5
    +15kg x5
    +20kg 5x5

    A2) YTWs:

    SATURDAY - PM

    BJJ - 90 minutes
-played with the new battling ropes for 10/15 minutes to warm up, evil things
-just rholled for over an hour then going 3 or so on and 1 off

    SUNDAY

Skipped 5x 3 minute rounds w/1 minute recovery in my Trail Gloves and tried to skip with a POSE style run - think I was kinda doing it right because my shins didn’t tighten at all, which was great.

Pretty good training weekend - managed to hit a 21st and get about 24 hours of sleep in over Friday and Saturday night w/ napzz too :)

    <<just can’t hold on….>>

    Chins:
    BW x8
    +10kg x6
    +20kg x4

No Gi BJJ - 2 hours
    -pummeling drills to warm up
-pummel, shuck underhook shoulder up, scoot around to Jonny Wilkson position w/ tight body lock
-both legs behind, twist and down (or drop for double leg and use ear pressure to move)
-ran thru the 3 half guard sweeps Drysdale showed us at the last seminar
-rolled a good bit - probably 40-45 minutes in total between first point passing and rounds
-found a couple of nice head and arm chokes, couple of back take arm drags, couple of single legs… tryna change things up a bit and transition to some newer things, happy out

    Got Rope?
-15 minutes, 6 person rotation on the battling ropes:
    10 big arm swings e/s
    10 overhead slams
    10 small waves e/s

Really nice session. Gonna just do an 8-6-4 weighted chin before every training session for the next while as I continue with the arms race. Will add maybe 2.5kg per week. The no gi stuff was frickin’ awesome last night. Just seem to be flowing really well, had a nice balance all the way thru and strung some nice things together. Even went for a triangle, almost had it locked in but was never getting it so just transitioned to arm bar.

The battling ropes are filthy. My hands are still tingly this morning after them. I said it last night, but they’re the closest thing to an upper body prowler I’ve used. I’m a fan.

I'm not a fan of **** stirring. I like to leave that to people with fake user names.

The only things I've really tried this year are:
    -my merrell trail gloves
    -the stick
    -plyos

Too early to say on call counts tbh. Except for the stick - love that.

    <<If you’re broken I will mend you…>>

    BJJ - 90 minutes
-arrived late thanks to stupid work so missed the warm up, straight into passing drills and got banana splitted, lovely
-drilled scissor sweeps last night, wasn’t in the mood to train and wasn’t really getting them at all
-ran back over the half guard stuff we were working on all month, pretty happy there
-did some deep half entry stuff, even got a nice sweep on it from live rolling
-grouped up in weight classes and did like 1 out for 4/5 people starting from half guard and going to first point (ming’n)
-rolled 4 good rounds, crunching something in my rib pretty badly at the end of round 4, called it there cos the last time I kept rolling after something popped in my ribs I was out for like 8 weeks. Iced the hell out of it, woke up feeling a bit tender, but not too bad.

    <<oh oh oh...>>

    A1) HSPU 3x8

    A2) Chins:
    BW x8
    +10kg x6
    +20kg x4

Hamstring and calf rolling and stretch, hip mobs, side step ups

    B) Reactive box jumps - 24 total foot contacts:
    Ended on 3x3 to big box with 4x 25s and 3x 20s

    C) Single leg box jump:
Ended on 3x3 to the small box with 2x 25s

    D1) Bench:
    60kg x5
    90kg x5
    110kg 3x4

    D2) Inverted ring row:
    BW x10
    +5kg 3x10

    E1) CGBP:
    97kg 3x5

    E2) Seated DB curls:
    17.5kg 3x10

Good sesh. Rib wasn't too bad. Hurt a little benching.

Reactive box jumps were better today. Not too surprised considering I've a pretty big strength base to work from the single leg stuff sucked, again. It surprised.

Benching was hard, mighta gone 3x5 with a spotter. Next week!! Rows were nice.

    Gunzz were amazing as always.

    Friday - BJJ x2 mins, f*cking ribs.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,981 ✭✭✭✭Hanley

    <<I don't ever wanna feel...>>

A1) 5x bounds over hurdles straight into 10m sprint x7
    A2) 20x band pull aparts x7

    B) Box Jump:
    Up to big box w/ 5x 25s 5x3

    C1) Ring dip:
    BW 2x5
    +15kg x5
    +25kg 3x5

    C2) YTWs:
5kg DBs 4x8 in each poseesh

    D) Band plank rows:
    3x10 e/s

    E1) Skull Crushers:
    EZ bar +20kg x12
    +25kg x12
    +30kg x11

    E2) Curls:
    Weights as above, all x12

Hip flexor and hamstring stretching, calves and hamstrings stick'd, t-spine mobs

Good session. Didn't do anything that'd stress my ribs, no pull ups or rotational stuff.

Plyo and box jumps were good. Ring dips are one of my favourite chest exercises now. Can really feel it everywhere, even in the centre of my chest. It's like a super heavy press/fly combo.

    Not much else to report...

Big gay skipping PR yesterday - 179 rotations going foot to foot.

    <<Miami to Ibiza...>>

    Chins:
    BW x8
    +15kg x6
    +25kg x4

    Reactive box jumps:
    Up to big box + 6x25s and 1x20 5x2

    Single leg box jump:
    Small box + 4x25s 5x2

    A1) Bench:
    60kg x5
    90kg x5
    110kg 3x5 - whoop (shamefully)

    A2) Face pulls:
    5x12

    B1) CGBP:
    100kg 3x5

    B2) Seated DB Curls:
    17.5kg DBs 3x12

    C) Med ball slam:
    3x15

Then I spent about 45 minutes mobilizing, rolling, stretching and playing. Stuck in Sligo up to today with work an working flat out so first chance to do anything today.

Ribs feel ok, gonna wait until Monday to train cos we've a big 7 day camp with Nivea Oliveoil that I want to be 100% for.

Today was good - box jumps were solid. Pretty much up to doubling for multiple sets the height I first did a couple of weeks ago. Not surprising given the nature of it really. Sets got better as they went on, probs implying there's efficiency gains to be had still.

Single leg box jump was solid. Better this week. Up to 115 3x3 next. Had no rings with me so sub'd in face pulls.

    Gunzz were super awesome.

Felt amaaaaaaaaazing after the stretch and roll.
