no. It states 2day induction course but the norm is 9-5 though. It does give contact details though for more enquiries by candidates that are commencing their training.

Sorry, I am a bit shy for communicating on forums online but I just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone on this forum who contributed a lot of excellent sound advice on what to expect during the procedure and training for the Garda Reserves. I completed phase 3 training two weeks ago in Templemore and I should hopefully be commencing phase 4 on the beat in the coming days. I just wanted to acknowledge everyone for their professional guidance and advice, it certainly made a difference for me during the whole process up to now, again thankyou all very much and take care out there.

ah wilco, Reserves only get 'those' vouchers if you generate paper-work for the full-timers ;)

    Good Morning,

This thread from March has some really great info. Have a look through that & this thread and let me know if their is anything else in particular you'll like info on :)

I first look at the garda reserve topics with a degree of sceptesism.I thought some of the threads were OTT. Can I now say that if other workforces bonded together and helped one another in the manner that the posters here do then we would all be better off.BTW , I'm not ruling out the possibility that I might be cynical in the future!

Just wondering, how long does it usually take from the end of phase 2 and the start of phase 3, roughly?

I am heading down to Templemore on February 8th, staying over that night, with training taking place on the 9th and 10th.......when we arrive where do we go to find out what is happening and where we are staying? Or will I be told this over the next few weeks?

Also what does Phase I training entail and when will I be informed as to what station I will be working in?

    Thanks in advance.

Thats good to hear. You will enjoy phase 1, and have abit of craic aswell.

First of all when you arrive, in order to find out what is happening and where your staying, you will have to find a hut. The man in there, very tall, massive build, black beard, will tell you everything you need to know.

In regards to what your training will entail, I'd advise you to be prepared for some defence against the dark arts and some light theory.

And as for your station, you will all be brought out to the courtyard and a sorting hat of somekind placed on ye'r heads. This will be the ceremony in which you all will be placed at various stations.

BTW, you will probably be sharing a room with a foxy guy.

This could continue for quite some time so I will refrain!

Seriously though will they send anymore info before the training?

    Hey there,

Once you receive your "Invitation to commence training..." that is all your correspondence. They would have brought you to the gate with that and what happens once you cross that barrier is all in your own hands.

The guard-'hut' is to the right as you enter. On arrival, go in, tell them who you are and why you're there. They'll look up where you room will be and show you on a map then where that is.
If you can follow that map on first viewing, then more power to you. I got lost! :)

After that, as I said, it will be all in your own hands. You will love every moment though! No doubt about that.

You will know what you will need to know about the outlined plan for the two days of training when you arrive and the training Sergeants meet you all on the morning on day#1 and inform you themselves :)

Those attending and those living near! Just a thought.....

Oh right. Heading from South Dublin myself. Depending on work (I won't find out my hours until 2-3 days before) I may head down earlier.

Would be good to put a face to the name (username!) if some of us boardsies meet up down there.

Hey the reason it has changed to 2 weeks, is to free up srgts in the area and for cost cutting measures. Thats what I hear anyway, on the plus side, its speeds up the entire process. I am waiting to be called for the medical, do you mind me asking, how long it took you to get to this point from your initial interview, to being called?
