Staropramen and Franziskaner tonight. Yum. I have definitely grown too fond of Weissbier

Had a few of the black stuff this evening with friends but back home now and sipping on a few Staro myself. Franziskanner on special in Lidl next week : 4 bottles for €5! ;)

Coconut stout/porter is worth trying if you ever see it. Had a pint of this in Wetherspoons and it was fantastic although the coconut was only really a delicious aftertaste rather than anything too dominating.

anyone know if you can get this in dublin?

    I'd doubt it.

The beer wasn't imported here, the brewers were. They came over and brewed the beer for the Wetherspoon's festival in the Bank's Brewery in England. Even if it did make it here I'd imagine it would cost quite a bit given that it's from Hawaii.

O' Hara's Stout on cask in The Bierhaus, Cork.
Lovely relaxing vibe spoilt by a group of about 25 people in Santa hats and LED lights drinking mostly Corona, it seems. Bah Humbug:mad:
Was almost finished my pint anyway;)

    Tis lovely on cask!
I'd love to try Leann Follain on cask.

Leann on cask us Magic. And if the brewer is to believe, a lot closer to 10abv than the 6 in the bottle! Salt house had it for a while in may.

Nøgne ø Two Captains last night.
Very nice but not their most remarkable beer ever.
A bit of a "me too" beer amongst all those strong, paleish super hoppy beers out there. Or maybe I'm just spoilt for choice these days.
Looking forward to trying the Imperial Stout I have waiting to be opened.
So far, my favourites have been the #100 and the #500.

Spent the week in freezing Wisconsin, where there's little to do but drink beer and there is a grand selection of local breweries (from Minnesota and Wisconsin) and craft beers (from everywhere in the US) to whittle away those cold dark nights. Favourite beers were:
Surly Furious - Wow.. Just wow. Wish it was available over here. 5am Saint, but more so.
Three Floyds Pride and Joy - A lighter bitter fruity ale - like the above, but milder
Summit Winter Ale -Warm spices, tasty and rich
Fulltons Balanced India Pale Ale - lovely IPA

So many more beers that I don't recall the names. :o Staying in Wisconsin is like being at a beer festival. Just colder..

went to the wine cellar maynooth to pick up some trouble brewing beers but they had none in stock.

got 4 Fullers old winter ale for a tenner instead

I had two lovely Jul Ols in Messrs yesterday, doesn't seem to be christmas without a christmas beer in Messrs, and ended up in the Porterhouse and tried Bohemia, a few times lovely dark lager. Love drinking dark largers when I'm in Germany. I was dissapointed though they had Metalman on one of their taps but they had none left. Anyway i'm off down the drinkstore and hopefully get some dark arts for tonight.

At a xmas party last night in Dublin so decided to pop into Farringtons to get a proper beer before having wine with dinner etc. Anyhow went for Galway Hooker, could have gone to Galway by the time it was poured. Had to pour an extra pint too as the head was all over the place.
After dinner went to some other pub and wasnt on planning on having a drink there till I seen Big Daddy IPA in bottles so was delighted with that.

Why can't you get Porterhouse beer in 500 mls rather than the 330 mls ? Nearly every other Irish craft beer comes in the bigger bottle

Rheinbacher - 6 500ml bottles for €6.60, Aldi only. So much better than anything else out there at the moment (price is just simply an added bonus). Smells like it should be a strong flavored beer, but is so easy to drink.

I'd agree with a lot of that.
I find it far too sweet and almost undrinkable.
Another failed gimmick by brewdog if you ask me.

Tokyo Horizon, a joint effort with Mikkeller and Nogne O, is a lot better though.

does anybody know where i can get my hands on some Bluebird Bittter from the Conniston Brewing Company? They don't export and neither does the the only online exporter I could find. Any help greatly appreciated

Think you'll have to travel up north to get it. Sainsburys always seemed to have it in stock any time I've been up North.

Had Hop House on Cask in Against the Grain on Friday - absolutely amazing full-on hoptastic flavour.

    I really like Tokyo*.
Couldn't bring myself to part with the €25 for the Tokyo Horizon

Finally tried the Nøgne ø Imperial Stout.
Like a few of the Nøgne øs, I wasn't too sure until the end of the glass and by then I loved it and was licking the glass out!!:P:P
It's a pretty traditional Imperial Stout - doesn't have the big hop kick I've come to expect from Nøgne ø - and that's no bad thing!
