So, some might think this is sacrilege but I did buy 2 of the same LaserDisc so I could do something like this. It was only 7 quid anyway for the disc brand new and sealed so it's no big loss and as I said before these discs are not exactly rare.

I wont be doing this when I get my hands on the early 1980's release of these movies :)

Not retro but this little girl arrived this morning.

Someone dumped her in the pound the other day so she needed out within 24 hours or was going to be put to sleep. Only 2 or 3 months old.

cheers all. Just fostering her until the animal charity i work with can find her a good home.
We really need to get them out of pound quickly this time of year as so many are getting dumped on the run up to xmas, pups and older dogs :(

got 3 dogs out yesterday, 3 more came in to fill their place.

You couldn't resist a cutie like that in fairness!

Looks like a lab, or is it a cross?

My dog is a pound dog too. Except we brought her home with us from the Cayman Islands via the Bahamas. That's the love of a pup for you! :)

You mean to tell me you took your dog away from the Cayman Islands/Bahamas and took him to Ireland?

I'd say he loves you :P

She loves Rancheros and Johnnie Onion Rings and asked to see where they were made. We felt we should oblige. :pac:

Does buying 29 games in the GoG sale count as something new? I have a sales problem :(

I got all 29 for the price of a brand new game so I'm happy. I've no money for the steam deal of the day which is the excellent Kings Bounty series and the Humble Bundle though. Aw well best not get greedy.

Yeah, you'll just have to make do with the 29 :p

I'll pick up the humble bundle next week :P the new one is too good to miss out on. And I'm giving to charity, which makes me feel a little better.

Something pretty feckin' cool happened yesterday evening.

It all stems back to my girlfriend being a Guitar Hero freak. She's literally pummelled the drums to death after years of use. I've managed to fix it a few times (even invoked my dodgy soldering skills on a couple of occasions) but this time it was knackared for good.

So we decided that we'd need to get her a new one. You can't exactly come by them new anymore, so it'd have to be a barely used second hand one.

Found a great Wii bundle on adverts. It came with a Wii, 3 Wiimotes and the complete Band Hero set for €120. A steal.

Band Hero is a bad pop version of Guitar Hero, but the drums looked mint so we decided to pick it up. Plus it works with all the Guitar Hero games.

Got the lot home, broke it out and were delighted to find out that the Band Hero set is of far higher quality than the Guitar Hero one. The pads have a proper bounce, the guitar is fantastic..it's just overall nicer to play. My girlfriend was over the moon and bashed her way through a load of songs on hard with ease.

Before going to bed I decided to check out the Wii. Thought it'd be handy having a second one for upstairs - and I'd finally be able to mod one. (The other one was the girlfriends' console and I was afraid of bricking it)

Booted the thing up - start up menu is in French. 'Bugger!'. The girl we'd bought it from was French and I thought this might happen. No worries, I can change that to English easily enough.

Once the Wii menu appeared I thought I'd be nosy and see if they had anything downloaded from the Wii store. Maybe a couple of ROMs - free games are always nice.

I was greeted with something else though.

'Le Homebrew Channel' and 'LE USB Loader DX' (or something similar, my French ain't the best!)

So not only did we get an absolute steal of a deal, the Wii, by some freak chance of luck, happens to be modded too!

    Great success!

    Wait just one minute pal!

Isn't the sale of a modded console prohibited on adverts.ie?

Now you march right back to that law breaking french girl,
carrying the Band Hero set on your back,
and you give her back that console and get your money back!

    Lucky bastard!

    You know, you're dead right.

My conscience can't deal with it. I'll run a new firmware update the moment I get home to make it legit again.

I'll also report her to the adverts mods.

We cannot let this law breaking go unpunished!!!

The retro games bureau might take you on yet in the fight against gaming related crimes.

'I'm from the R.G.B. mam and there's been a report of home brewing in the area. '

    'Eh? The K.G.B.?'

'No mam, the R.G.B., we really need a new acronym.'

    €171.
I think it was okay. I seen one recently go for twice that in England recently and there's one in auction at the moment for €250 and has 5 days to go. That's my justification to the missus for Christmas morning when she gets wellies and a high powered flash light.

Fair play, that's a fine purchase. It's one of the finest games ever made, worth €171 any day of the week. Congratulations. :)

Up next a bunch of megadrive games, nothing cool and groovy like earthbound. No megaman.

After that Chrono Trigger, a bunch of Saturn beat em ups and a NTSC Snes. All in the new year maybe some for my birthday in January. It's hard to drop hints for that stuff though.

    Want to get earthbound aswell

****ing yanks, they didnt buy the game when it came out and wait till like 15 years later to want it and drive the price up for everyone else who didnt even get a chance to buy it first time round
