Loses it's effectiveness when explained, I should have probably used a better photo only I was all excited!

It definitely looses it's effectiveness when the reader hasn't even heard the phrase before! :D

I'm that kind of person that has heard very few phrases throughout life,
and I CONSTANTLY get the "WTF??? You mean to tell me, you never heard of that before????" reaction!

My lovely gold gameboy light arrived today! It's well used and loved but the light still works which is all that matters :)

Mine looks like it's been through the wars as well, but it is a lovely thing.
The AGS-101 is well used too, although the screen is perfect.

I got some super fun stuff today. You have to guess what it is though.

First correct answer wins a hat made of cheese and a Mickey Bubbles Chrsitmas CD. :)

    Nope!

You really want that cheese hat and Mickey Bubbles CD don't you? :D

N.B. I do have a few juicy LD's on the way though. Sadly not 'that' particular LD. :(

    :p

I've a few in the post myself.
Nothing rare but all new and sealed, mostly star wars stuff.

Was there any fun stuff on the Star Wars LD's that hasn't been HD'd yet?

I've my beady eye on some Muse HD discs but they are so bloody expensive. Also keen to grab the Japanese LD of Braindead. Awesome movie and the Jap LD is the only 104 min edition in existence.

    Bloody expensive though. :(

p.s: You should get Terminator 2 on Laserdisc. It just sounds utterly amazeballs. Picture is decent too, especially through SCART.

I'm trying to get the original movies on LD at the moment, the ones before lucas raped them with all the mistakes and bad special effects intact.

I have the T2 LD at home.

Ah yes, I do recall those were intact. Were they Criterion?

Don't think criterion were doing LD's when the ones I want came out(around 1983/84/85).

Ah, you'd want to watch out for laser rot on discs that old. Who pressed them? If it was Sony I'd urge extra caution.

Yep, thats why its hard to get a nice copy of them.
    LD rot be a beeyach.

LDDB is a handy link if your going to start collecting LD's.

Is disc rot really that bad among LDs? Or is it easy to avoid by staying away from certain manufacturers?

I don't know if I could collect something which had a high chance of breaking down like that. I'm already worried enough about bit rot and eeproms as it is!

Metal Layer Oxydation (also called laser rot) is the plague of LDs. Impossible to forecast, useless to fight, it can happen anytime during the lifetime of a disc. Hopefully not all LD titles manufactured are suffering from this disease and some Factories are more famous than others on this issue (SONY DADC being #1).

You can try your best to avoid it and be ok. But you might end up with a disc or two with rot if you have a large collection.

Sony LD's are notriously plop. Just use caution when buying. A lot of discs are grand if you look after them and store them properly. Same with anything like that really.

Never saw so many morning posts!

These yokes landed yesterday. The new Shooting Gameside is awesome, it features a 44 PAGE feature on the ENTIRE Darius series!

Intron Depot I've wanted since I saw the Sheffield Space Centre adverts in Manga Mania back in the early 1990's. At last a dream comes true and I own a copy!

The ashtray is genuine and NOT stolen (pic is taken of it on my cab). I was offered a choice of a brand new one or a used one. I opted for a used one as it adds a bit more character knowing that it was actually used in a game centre. Plus it looks virtually mint too, so a bonus all round!

    1. Taito game centre ashtray. Genuine. Not stolen.

Where did you find the ashtray.
I've been meaning to grab a Taito one for my coins.

There's a few folk on AO based in Japan selling them. Just make sure if buying used you ask for a photo of the actual one you'll receive as some have melted plastic cigarette burns on them. Thankfully mine was clean as a whistle.

One of these would look smashing on your Egret. :)

I think Andrew76 has one too but I forget where he got his from.

Heh, I've wanted Intron Depot 1 for years too myself! Used to always have a leaf through it in Forbidden Planet.

Cheers, found a guy on AO who's in Japan and has a google store front.
Sells a good few bits and pieces.

Hmm, he also has a complete IBARA kit.

    Aye, that's the fella. :)

The Ibara kit looks delicious indeed. I think ondafly's Ibara is a full kit, or his Ketsui is. I forget.
