Right so that is 2 racists at Liverpool!!!!!
Only joking. The word Negrito can be a term used by friends for each other.
However it is all about context really. And if he did use the word Negrito towards Evra, who is not his friend(but is little) I think there might be a case.

Ironically this definition which was given by Suarez I believe could be a get out of jail card for the FA

In the States black people call each other "Nigga" all the time as a term of endearment, listen to any rap song and you'll hear it but if a white person uses it toward a black person then it's a whole different kettle of fish.
His excuse is a bit thin considering he was winding Evra up all game so calling him "little friend" was hardly what Suarez was doing.

I read recently that Daniel Pacheco called his friend the same on twitter recently

    Here it is

Its a Spanish thing but I wonder do they say it to their white friends...

That phrase is similar to saying "Sup nigga" which loads of people around Ireland and other countries say to friends, needless to say if they said it to a black person they'd be subject to a good beating.

Its still a derogatory term for a black person any way you look at it, if he called Evra a 'negro' or 'negrito' he will be charged, simple as.

to clarify its not akin to 'sup nigga'.

its been more a likened to 'mate' in Oz.

that said, things are looking bad to be honest. The biting incident could even come back to haunt Suarez. Damn shame. I like blatters approach.

Like all this stuff is said in the heat of the moment or to affect someones performance. There is a massive difference between saying something conisdered racist and being racist IMO.

Not sure. Just putting it out there.

I think the FA have asked not just for translators but cultural experts.

I think this post from #15 should end a lot of the confusion about the negrito word:

I'm just saying that's what his defence seems to be.

I'm not sure if it's relevant or will suffice to clear him.

Mate has no correlation to race whatsoever, how are they in any way alike?

Suarez was hardly winding evra up all game, evra was fighting with everyone on the field from players to the ref, linesman to kissing the badge in front of the fans, if he said little friend he obviously said it in a sarcastic way.

I'm dead curious as to exactly what he's been charged with.

The crux of the FA statement seems to be for abusive &/or insulting behaviour toward Evra. With the racial aspect thrown in at the end separately.

Is there 2 charges? If so, is giving an opponent stick (non racial) now punishable by the FA?

No he was charged with abusing Evra, the abuse was considered to be racist.

That's a bit unfair and it is biased. Pacheco used the word as a friendly term. None of us really know the context of it. If it's accepted in Spain and Uruguay as a friendly term then Suarez should get the benefit of the doubt.

That doesn't mean Evra isn't wrong to get offended.

because its just casually used. I dont really understand why there has to be a correlation to race as we all know whats being debated.

ie. mate is said and noone is offended, hence the plausibility of Suarez calling him what 'his team mates call him'.

i understand there is bias everywhere in this, but im just saying my piece.

If it is then they are gonna be busy boys charging players .

How many times have you lip read a player clearly saying f**K off either to an opponent or the Ref or lines man for that matter .

That's not what the FA statement said.

It read, 'it is also further alleged that this included....'.

That implies it's in addition to the first charge levelled at him.

think the culture clash in this case is immense...

    Ok, heres a situation.

Ashley Young and Rio Ferdidnad are talking before my match, one of them calls the other "my nigga"

Following your logic its perfectly fine for anyone, lets say for arguments sake, Jamie Carragher to walk up and say "Good morning ****"

But it's not accepted between people who are not acquaintances.

    That's the whole point.

If 'negrito' was the word used, then the absolute best case scenario for Suarez is that he was not racially abusive, but merely culturally ignorant.
And certainly the term should not be used when it's not someone that you have, that you know very closely. So even in the Latin American context his use of it was quite improper.

And even that is being generous, because he has lived in northern Europe for 5 years and in England for 9 months and he is hardly stupid enough to have not picked up cultural taboos in that time.

If it wasn't 'negrito' that was said, then fair enough, disregard the above.

They wouldn't understand a word he said.I'd say Suarez speaks better English than Carragher.
