"wishes i could go out and drink away all my problems. . . only when i go out i seem to manage to get my self more problems, serioiusly ignore me talking **** when im drunk"

"sligo is so boring! i want a break from it!!!!"

"What do you do when your hurt and the one you want to run to,,, is the one who hurt you"

":(" *accompanied by a link to a Taylor Swift song"

"dont know why i even bother goin out in sligo anymore!!! :("

":( :( And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste </3"
*accompanied by a link to a Coldplay song*

"love fully, kiss long, party hard, and live life to the fullest..there are no second chances, just a new beginning :)"

It was a week long journey! Her ex's status updates were normal, haha.

This abuse of language would be reason enough for me to cut her off, were I on.

does the thread title confuse anyone else?

    Definitely.

The "moms" part is becoming increasingly irrelevant, if it wasn't to begin with.

Surely it's a bit strange to blame "damaged moms" for such things, as I'm certain that people without children are equally capable of such idiocy.

And though I assumed "damaged facebook moms" meant "emotionally crippled mothers on facebook," a small part of me hoped it would be about an experiment in online cybernetic parenting gone awry...

Just remove people who piss you off and don't sit there like a spanner reading their bull****.

For banal posting ,you have the option of unsubscribing from somebodys status updates ..simples . Unless they are personell friends and acquaintances, I don't think most people who woke up to find they had 10 less friends on FC would really be arsed about it all that much anyway .

One good a reason as any to have a FB account is for folk who like to look at the great collection of personell and public photos and documents ,many quite historical in the such groups as 'Dublin down memory lane ' which you can tell gives great pleasure to many and and it must be the same for people from other towns and citys .

My wife's cousin added me sometime last year. She's just finished her leaving cert. Angsty nonsense doesn't really describe it. If it's not a rant about, "sum ppl tink der all dat but der not I hat dem", then it's a sudden, "X is single" update, followed by "Aw no hun wats rong" comments, then a few days later it becomes, "X is in a relationship with <ex-boyfriend from 2 days ago>", with smiley faces and stupid icons everywhere. Then there's the pictures. Sweet jesus, the pictures. The girl must take about 50 pictures a day, all of herself, all uploaded to facebook.

This is the kind of stuff I though most people stopped posting on facebook about 3 weeks after realising their friends could see it. But then the rest of the people I know on facebook are over 23.

Took me about a year longer than it should have to put that girl on mute tbh.

Coulda worded it better alright, but easily the three or four biggest offenders are all single moms, in their early to mid twenties, and spout the same **** again and again and again...

I'm not sure there's a general truth in that though. Off the top of my head, I have one single mother among my facebook friends, and her posts are quite inoffensive.

The people who post some of the worst stuff consist of three men and one woman, none of whom have children.

The worst posts come from me, and I'm not even a woman!

Like I said in the OP, I'm not really looking for solutions, I know blocking them, defriending them them is an option, it is just something that annoys me.

Though the filtering them out trick, I hadn't thought of and will be putting to good use.

Agree 100%. Detest facebook. I value privacy in my life.

Hold on, you actually lie there and pray that something doesn't happen that you yourself would need to make happen?

There is this new concept, called "not doing things" that is really catching on with people.

I know one of these. She drives me mental, although her updates are so ridiculous I can't bring myself to block her/ hide them as I do get a certain amount of entertainment from them.

This one is a single mother too and if she's not going on about how much she loves her son, she's going on about how much she needs a man, how she's 'worth it', how much she doesn't need a man cos she's single independent and proud, how horny she is, how useless her son's dad is, and trying to provoke a response from her male 'friends' by putting up status updates with double meanings and winks.

    Here's a recent one 'Oh...wats dat!!!....you wanna take me on a proper date?!...den why u sleazing ova other birds!!!! 2 words...feck off!'

That's just to let the world of facebook know someone asked her out.

This is all between putting up photos she's taken in herself in her underwear and a few taken by someone else...probably her poor son!

This gives me a repulsive mental image of someone smearing egg whites on a crow's wing.

    Saw this today, slightly disturbed.

You died... go to your page and look at your friends at the side use the first 8 people on your list:) NO CHEATING!

    Happy with your death:
Won't come to the funeral because they never liked you:
    Cries everyday:
Steals Something to remember you by:
Gives a really long and boring speech at the funeral:
    Kills themselves cause you died:
    Pretends nothing happened:
    The murderer:

Like this wan who as soon as she made friends with me (though my 21 year old neice ) was constantly giving me updates on her schedule /life which I din't take much notice of .So one day , I thanked one of her photos with a lil quip about a song which was in sync with something she had said about the picture (nothing flirty or sleezy ) and I got ...

    Her - ' wha ' ?
Her friend - ' yea what she said ? '
Me - it's an ol song which fits the picture
    Her - 'alri '
    Her friend - 'alri '
    Her friends friend 'alri '
    Somebody else - 'alri '

Me ...(an hour later ) 'alri '

I'm going to vent a gripe I've had for a very long time. Before any of you retort, I know what kind of people post on facebook, and I know how much bull**** you have to wade through to find any comment of worth, but it does have its uses... notably I now live in South Korea, and it's most definitely the best way to keep in contact with people... thus justifying why I use it and why I'll continue to use it...

I've seen a growing trend in young mothers or girls in general... posting crap constantly. And not your regular crap, this retarded moany drivel, oh woe is me ****. I knew this girl pretty well in school, and she didn't seem like a rehab at the time...

Every time she posts something it's crying about some man that can't be trusted or relied on. It's really annoying and fairly pathetic. We get it you're having a tough time, stop moaning on a public forum like Facebook, that's what your friends are for.

I've posted some of her most recent comments...

Now it would be very easy for me to go through her page and pick out a few suspect ones but I assure you, those profile page comments are actually all in a row.

Another thing that annoys me is women or girls going on Facebook with comments like

Rehab, you very clearly have a comment to make to someone in specific, the comment is so specific that, that person probably knows it's meant for them. Why don't you **** off and send it to them directly instead of floating it around for all your dope friends to comment

My last rant revolves around the facebook moms posting comments about how proud they are of their kid, regardless of how young they had them (they actually mention as much). I am not a heartless bastard, there is absolutely nothing wrong with loving your kids obviously, but it feels a little put on if you're posting the same wishy washy crap every five minutes...

If you love the child so much why don't you get off ****ing facebook for more than five minutes and tell them that... and don't be putting on some facade on show for angry bitter ****ers...

I'm not looking for solutions, (obviously just defriending them would solve it) just needed to get this off my chest.

Anyone else deal with the same crap...?

"Anyone else deal with this crap?". You make it sound like you're being forced to read everything she says. Remove her from your friends if you don't like her. Even if for some odd reason you don't want to remove this person that you hate so much you can simply unsubscribe to her updates.

As for the person she's talking about knowing it's them; you're doing the same. If she reads this thread she'll know you're talking about her.

I haven't heard the word 'rehab' being used as an insult since I was about nine by the way. I used it myself back then until I discovered it was short for 'rehabilitation' which makes no sense as an insult.

EDIT: I didn't mean to reply to 'Dumb/Great Facebook Status'. The post I was replying to has been merged.

I never said I hate her, she just posts annoyingly on Facebook.

I'd be pretty sure she's not on boards, if I felt the need to do the same as she's doing I'd have posted it on Facebook and not on boards.

You obviously know what rehab meant in that context so I don't know why you're reading into it literally or why you felt the need to bring it up for that matter. But if you must... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Rehabed

Even if she's not on Boards she could still see this thread. If you enter any of the things you quoted her as saying into Google this thread appears in the results.

No offence meant. I was just commenting on how I haven't heard the word used as an insult in over twenty years and am surprised to see it has made a comeback.
