I dont get why people would post this. Either A) They're still friends with them on Facebook, B) they've got their settings on public (and maybe know this and assume the person will be checking their Facebook page a lot, C) They're 99.7% looking for attention.

The worst is when people post up saying something like "I've had a "clean-out" of their facebook friends. If you can see this then you made the cut, congratulations"

It's pointless, attention-seeking and just nasty. The klind of thing you do when you're 12, not 30. Two people I know have done this, they both got de-friended pretty fast. I don't want to have "made the cut", thanks very much.

There's one on my friends LIST who capitalises random WORDS for EMPHASIS. She says the strangest things.

"That girl needs too get a F**KING LIFE like seriously.what a waste sge is.UGH.makes me so ANGRY."

"F**k sake Michael D Higgins is the new president of IRELAND god help us all.the irish people cant vote properly like COP ON for FECK SAKE."

There are quite a lot of tabloid editors who think that's perfectly sound grammar, poor girl might just have read too much of the Mail.

Like who uses the word "woop" in everyday life? It's not a word.

Woop isn't but sadly "woot" now officially is

Although "woop" isn't in the dictionary it is blatantly clear that it is just an alternate spelling of "whoop", which is a legitimate word.

As "whoop" is onomatopoeic then I would consider "woop" to be a perfectly fine variant spelling.

are any of you NOT on facebook. I had it for a while then deleted it because i realise how ****ing sad it actually is. people writing bollox about their lives just makes me cringe

facebook is a tracking device, everyone knows everything about you it leaves nothing to the imagination, jesus christ no wonder people dont even know how to socialise anymore...its all over a poxy computer.

they say it brings you closer to your friends etc....it does the complete opposite as all it does is push you further away from your friends because nothing is face to face anymore. people have nothing to talk about anymore when theyr out, unsociable ****s...everything is told over facebook.nothing is real anymore, real CONVERSATION doesn't exist anymore

Meaning that you could just as easily replace "Facebook" in your post with "Boards" and it would be just as valid (or invalid), yet here you are with your own Boards account and mocking Facebook users...it seems more than a little ironic to me.

    It's not at all ironic.

On Facebook, ppl tlk lyk dis nd brag bou drinkin evry nite tinkin der rapid even tho dey didn even do der leavin nd ar now doin lyk a fas corse nd cnt typ lyk nrml ppl.

Boards, however, has specific fora regarding different topics, so you can talk about whatever interests you with like-minded individuals. And I don't know about you, but I can't remember the last time I saw someone bragging about going out drinking, or posting threads such as "i hd such a hrd day :("..."dnt ask wats rong tho I'm onlee lookn 4 attnshun".

Thus, boards is better for actual conversation, while Facebook is much easier to mock.

Agreed. Boards and Facebook are not similar in any important way. My real name isnt Brain Stroking. Boards is a forum not a social network despite how involved anyone gets in it. Boards has little of the connectivity of facebook. Do you know where i live or who my friends are from boards? no you dont.
What boards does allow is banal superiority to be displayed on a wide scale. Congratulations, welcome to the club

Actually it is very easy to talk with like minded individuals on topics that interest you on facebook too, all you have to do is only add like minded individuals who will talk about topics that interest you, simple. I just don't add the stereotypical txtspk users that you mention. In that way facebook is actually superior to Boards in that you have full control on what type of people you will be exposing yourself to having to read their updates.

Except that what most people do is add people who they know in real life. I may have certain friends in real life who are big into rugby like I am. However, they wouldn't have the same love for music that I do.

I remember the same being said about TV, then it was computer games, now its facebook. Seems like some people won't be happy until we're all sitting around the open fire telling fairy tales by candle light.

I hate to break it to you, but this is a social networking site, just more old school. Facebook can facilitate the same discussions you have here, it just requires you to at least vaguely know the people you converse with first.

That's nothing to do with the actual website, rather the people you add as friends on it.

Somebody mentioned irony earlier, and there was confusion as to what qualified. Ladies and gentlemen, exhibit A.

i dont beleive this is a social networking site, theres not full on profiles were you comment on peoples pages/photos....this is way more discussion based about topics, facebook is used way more for marketing than forums.but thats what the whole site is about....yours vs other peoples lives.

irony? dont know what that means.....probably wasnt in school that day

    ...Oh, wait...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_buffalo_Buffalo_buffalo
"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo." is a grammatically valid sentence in the English language, used as an example of how homonyms and homophones can be used to create complicated linguistic constructs.
