    what provider are you with?

I'm on meteor and still no update available (via software update), still on 2.3.3

Bought my S2 sim free from amazon last week and its also on 2.3.3.
When I run the software update on the phone, it says no updates available.
Is there another method of updating software?

So I wonder if Samsung will announce at some point soon when the SGSII will be graced with ICS? Presumably it can't be that long away since they're providing the first phone to use it.

Am considering buying this from amazon but something on the website caught my eye

"The product will come fully sealed with a UK plug/plug adapter inside the box.It will have a manufacturer’s warranty that is valid in the UK. It will not have a network logo or have previously been locked to any network. It will be the manufacturer’s specification for the UK; e.g. it will have a UK keyboard/touchscreen keyboard."

The bit in bold, does that mean the warranty is only valid if your living in the uk?

Pretty much all (if not all) Smartphones have this. I use it every night when going to bed.

Id say itd be grand... your more likely to damage it or lose it than there to be a manufacturers fault. , so if you can get phone insurance for 6-7euro a month it would be good.

Reading the specs - the S2 is actually a better phone. Only difference is the OS, which the S2 will most likely get in time too.

Doubt the s2 will come down.in price due to.the nexus and yes s2 is almost in every way.the better handset. Id wait till the s3 for a price drop or a better handset!

Warranty should be international, shouldn't matter where u bought it. if its sourced from outside the eu u will most likely only get 1 yr warranty as opposed to 2 yrs for an eu handset. btw fone fix or some of them should also fix any phone on warranty if u do have a problem just call em and ask they'll confirm its a free warranty repair or not. its easier than chasing Samsung direct for a repair!

ah ya,they'll deliver to me alright but the seller wouldn't.....strange

did you buy it direct from vodafone?

S2 has a smaller, older, lower resolution screen but a higher MP camera.
Prime has a newer processor, better screen, lower MP but im betting a better sensor in the camera, NFC and a bigger battery

All the irish operators opted for SG 2 without NFC.

other parts of the world have SG2 with NFC enabled.

Anyone else have a problem with the phone completely locking up?
It has happened three times in a week since I got it. Phone was just sitting on my desk in latest case, pressed the home button to bring up the lock screen, no response - tried the power button - no response. Had to take battery out and switch back on. Same syptoms and result on each of the three times the phone has locked up.

Used to happen to me quite a bit with an X8, but not once since I got the SGSII. :)

I was using cyanogenmod 7 on the X8 when this used to happen.
Have you custom firmwave on your phone?

My Samsung keeps reporting updates available from the market in the notifications tab and when I click it, im just given a list of installed and not installed applications from the Market? There are a lot more applications then it told me also.

Am I suppose to go into each of those applications?

There should be a button that says 'Update All' up near the top right of that page.

    Click that, job done!

No custom roms, stock firmware that came with the phone, sim free so no operator branding.

You can guess, I was going to suggest a custom rom might be the culprit! :)

I can't say that i've had the issue myself, but maybe someone else on here might have and offer help!

If the header at the top of My apps says 'Installed', then you have nothing to worry about, all your apps are up to date.

If the header says 'Updates', then you should see a button that allows you to update all, if there is more than 1 update available. If not, try to reboot the phone and see if that enables the button!

Is anyone using this as an MP3 player replacement? If so how is it? Thinking of getting one and just loading up a 32gb micro SD card with music.
