It will make very interesting reading here if the allegations are proven  But it's 99% certain that nothing will come of it like the busquets case. If it was happening suarez was hardly going to be screaming it or even saying it when other people were close to them. Personally i don't think suarez is a racist but maybe he used the term while trash talking

Personally i dont think Evra is a liar but i think he didnt tell the truth here and he made the story up.

Presumably if/when nothing is proven, the allegation simples disspappears like all the rape claims that popped up in the papers over the last few years involving footballers.

check your facts, he has never made one before.

He has done so at least once in the past.

    In 2010 against Senegal.

Does not mean he is lying, but he does have a track record of making claims of racist comments against him.

But as I said in the LFC superthread, I hope that whichever man is lying, and one has to be lying in this case, gets caught and is hit by the full weight of the law as well as the maximum punishment the FA can apply.

    Remeber reading this piece a while back and it just came to mind there. The bit that sticks out though and is relevent here is;

Less well publicised is Suarez's charity work which took up much of his spare time in South Africa.

“I care about social inequality,” he said. “Whenever I can I love being active part of organisations that promote solidarity projects.

“Football has got this tremendous power of joining people, without any skin, religion and social discrimination.”

Now that doesn't strike me as the kind of person that's going to throw about those kind of slurs. Much less someone who'd use the same insult 10 times, without anyone else in the ground apparantly hearing him or being picked up on the millions of pounds worth of cameras and sound equipment.

It was Manchester United Football Club that fabricated the racist allegations in that scenario, so i think you're being a little harsh on Paddy Evra there.

No need to be a dick about it.
It has been shown here numerous times that Evra didn't make those allegations but sure if you just want to wade in making a fool of yourself by stating things that have been proved wrong over and over then knock yourself out.

    Oh dear.

If a player is accused or racism, they should face a ban.
If a player falsely accuses someone else of racism then they should face a longer ban.

No matter the outcome, United fans will believe Evra and Liverpool fans will believe Suarez.

In all honesty though - who cares. If Evra was the victim of racism and it affected his game, he only has himself to blame. Players say things all the time to try and get a rise out of opposition players and I have no doubt that there are a lot worse things said.

There's a line somewhere, and racism crosses it. Racism is against the law so calling someone racial names in football is ok then? Simply because it's ''Getting the opposition unfocused?'' Yeh right. Ffs. Cop on.

Cool yeah. Racism, no big deal.

At least we know where you stand.

This issue has raged across three different threads. Numerous articles and examples have been dragged up and highlighted as conclusive evidence of "his history".

Other articles have been ignored. Facts have been cherry picked. Both sets have sprung to the defense of their relative team and player. A majority of minds have been made up regarding innocence and guilt.

Rationalising, accusations and wild speculation abound.

There hasn't even been an investigation yet.

Is anybody prepared to wait for some facts to emerge?

Liverpool fan here, don't really post on this board due to the signal to noise ratio, but feel that I have to vent my opinion on this particular controversy.

Firstly, I think that any right thinking soccer fan would totally abhor any racist slurs directed at any player, irrespective of their allegiance.

Secondly, and totally without my Liverpool hat on, Evra has claimed that this happened "at least 10 times" end of. Now I could allow him a mis-count of 3. So lets say it happened 7 times.

Sky Sports have come out publicly and said, that they have not picked any racial abuse up once, despite having multiple cameras around the pitch.

Suarez has said that he did not racially abuse Evra. Evra made these comments to his 'home channel' and not to any other channel.

I would hope that Suarez gets the full might of the FA rained down upon him, should he be found guilty of these terrible allegations.

I would also hope that the FA would use the same punishment, should the allegations be proved to be totally false.

Yep could not agree more. I am United fan, but if Evra is accused of lying then he should get book thrown at him also. I hate the racist card being used and would have sympathy for Saurez if he was proven innocent.

It's a tricky one imo I was at the game and if being honest Saurez never shut up rising players for whole game, but what he said is another matter.

    Just hope truth wins out.

Amazing stuff there cambo. Please allow me to "knock myself out" if you'd be so kind. At the time it was Evra who made the completely bogus allegation. When it got big heat and the possibility of Evra facing a lenghty ban all of a sudden it was Phelan who made the allegation, who apparently wasn't even on the pitch at the time. But I suppose ban a coach or a player? Coach please.

Also I'm being a dick about it, I just said I wasn't arsed reading 17 pages. It's amazing these race allegations that come out every now and again always centered around Patrice Evra. What an embarrassment it must be for Salford United having him as your captain of all things.
