I really like Super R type. Had one of those 'in the zone' experiences last year and almost finished it without dying. Have yet to repeat that!

Great haul there Pyongyang! Welcome to the Blazing Star club! :)

Cheers! The Blazing Star (or Last Resort) 'clubs' are not cheap either! Worth every penny though, the games are amazing and mean more to me than buying, for example, Gears Of War 3 or any FPS at release. :)

By the way, tonight was the first shock box I've ever seen. Size of them! Talking of shocks, aside from shock boxes and electrocuting myself last night on an SLG 3000; the parcel with Blazing Star, Last Resort and Strike Force Hydra In it was just left out in the open on my doorstep ALL DAY today!

Some week I'm having with An Post and anything Neo Geo related!

With regard to the AES stick, is the knob cracked?
Very often they are found cracked.
Replacements can be found but many, like myself like the effect and leave them in situ as it normally has no affect on function bar the look of the thing.

If we can have some grownup reactions to the mention of a cracked knob, I'll be surprised!

I'll join the Last Resort and Pulstar clubs one of these days...been out of the Neo Geo loop ever since I moved to my new place. AES is still stored away under my bed and my MVS multi slot is wrapped up in bubble wrap under my parents staircase. How I miss that Neo Geo boot jingle! :(

I've never seen a shock box in person. Can only imagine how big the things are though. Would you be interested in getting them for all your games or did that just happen to come with it?

Your stuff being left on the door step is why you NEED to pay a little more for signed for postage for these expensive items. An Post love nothing more than leaving packages on door steps. :( Forcing them to get a signature puts a stop to that.

Yeah I replaced one of mine with a green ball top. It looks kind of cool, but it's just not the same. I miss my cracked knob!

Pulstar...ah how flippin difficult it is to find the MVS of that. Not super difficult as in there's none on Earth, just don't see people willing to part with it too often (or for a sensible price). I will join that club one day. I'd love a complete MVS shooting game collection one day.

Shock boxes are ENORMOUS. Think telephone directory size. I think it even dwarfs the NEC-9801 game I have and that's MASSIVE. The shock box and insert came with it so super happy with that. I do want them for the shooters. There's a great series of custom inserts available for all the Neo Geo shooting games that, when put together, form a fantastic spine image. Problem with shock boxes is that while they are cheap enough at $6-$8 each, the postage on them from the US of expensive A throttles your testicles and crushes your head like a paper cup. For example, to order 14 of these bad boys would cost around $100 shipped. Ludicrous!

Now I have a shock box I'm going to see if I can get some made, though it might be pricey. I'll do some research.

The problem was I was told it was to be sent registered. Seems I got ripped by the classic 'eBay postage profiteer' scam. :(

@Alcoholicapplebasedbevargemale: Yep the ball is cracked but at the same time I bought the controller I bought a 35 ball top and 45 ball top from Akihibarashop, both black. My first ever 'mod'. :D

+1 to that. It's a no brainer to pay for decent postage if you're spending fair whacks of money on stuff. Well packaged, speedy postage is worth top dollar. :pac:

Absolutely. I pay a premium most occasions, just not from the USA. :pac:

I have the 'lack of bidding remorse' over that last Pulstar that was listed on ebay. Should have gone for it! Won't be another one again for a long time.

Wanted to do something similar myself with shock boxes and the Metal Slug spines and a big image coming together. Looks really great. But alas, I was soon to discover that insane shipping price.

They'd be bulky to ship, but I take it they're not that heavy? In which case I could not understand why the postage was so damn crazy.

Let me know if you come up with anything. I'd be seriously interested in that myself.

Indeed they aren't heavy just absolutely massive. I think US postal charges go on size as well as weight? 14 of those boys heading to Ireland would be some size parcel that's for sure.

I'm looking in to it, I'll make a few calls and what not over the coming days/weeks. See what prices get drummed up. Perhaps if we can generate enough interest we could do a group buy to bring costs down?

I'll look in to it and let you know.

Its probably going to be a bitch to get working , and until I make new cables the only way its going to pick up some of my RF based 8 bit computers I'm going to have to route the signal out through a vcr , but hopefully I can get something up on yt with it later.

    Received today:

    1. Ball tops for my AES stick. 35 and 45 sizes.

    3lZvq.jpg

    2. Bomber Man: The Music (OST collection) [SC-OCD, RC-OCD, CIB]

    DhHAq.jpg

    3. Jumping Flash! [PS1, NTSC-J, CIB, SC-OCD, RC-OCD] and Jumping Flash! Guide Book [Japanese, SC-OCD, RC-OCD, BM-OCD]

    1ubWY.jpg

The book is absolutely amazing and features great 3D level layouts. Shame I can't read the thing but nonetheless cool to have. I had this game on my PAL PS1 many years ago when first released. Great to have it back again after so long!

That Jumping Flash gear is the first thing I have seen that I really really want!
    I loved that game.
Had a Pal launch PS and that was one of the early games I picked up, it was amazing indeed.
I have it and the sequel in my collection but that little lot looks very tempting.
How much was it and is it a rare find?

The book is very cool. I will take a few snaps shortly to show the goodness contained within. :)

Jumping Flash! struck a chord with me all those years ago. I've no idea how I came to buy it but when I got the game home I was delighted with it. I think it's a very overlooked and underrated gem.

The book price? €4. It was the only one the guy had and I've not seen them for sale anywhere else unfortunately. Maybe eBay? I'll keep my eyes peeled for you though. Like yourself there, when I saw it I leapt on it. Even though I can't read it I think it's a great companion piece to a great game.

I never played or owned the sequel but I will definitely be buying it one day. Is it much better or different to the first game?

Jumping Flash is still surprisingly great.

I have it, its a lot like the original, but adds a few things none of which i remember right now!
But there are more levels than the first one, and that was one of the few issues I had with the original.

There was a real spirit of innovation back in the days of the ps, Kurushi, Kuala World, Vib Ribbon, even agame like Rapid Racer had a certain something.

Well I'll be a monkeys uncle, I went to Gamestop earlier with some cash in my pocket. Saw Insuma eleven and Ghost Trick there both for €33 each brought them straight to the manager and asked could he cut a deal. Lo and behold he did and I got both games for €52.79. Happy days:D

Couldn't believe that Cidermans favourite shop (a shop he would father a lovechild with) would even consider doing a deal especially on new stock.

Wait a minute, I thought you were losing the job and relieved of all games related fundage?
Does the missus know you just spent the food budget on games? Again?

Actually, the staff have a weekly discount allowance where they can apply a percentage discount on one transaction a week, it being Friday he/she might have liked the cut of your jib and gave you the discount instead....
    You could be in there!

Forget 'getting something new', that's the best bloody post in this entire thread.

Congratulations, I hope it all goes well for you. In these times, posts like the one you made are the best news anyone can hear (besides, "Hello. My name is Mr. Plop. You don't know me, but I want to give you a bag containing Darius Alpha, Slyphia, Steam Hearts, Sapphire and every full Cave PCB kit complete and sealed. Oh and here's some spine cards and a few games to sniff. Enjoy!").

Seriously though, that's great news. Well done. :)

Pokemon Stadium and the transfer doohickey were awaiting me this morning.
That should be a nice surprise for my Pokemon mad son.

The weekly car boot at Tallaght Stadium

The Xplorer packaging contained a few random items - Instruction books and an old demo disk "SCED-00816". All for the recycle bin methinks...

So do I - I might not have a huge amount of 16-bit shmup-goodness in my collection at the minute, but its up there as one of my favourites that I have played.

Come to think of it, is very possibly in my top ten in the genre - I don't know what it is, its ridiculously hard and very punishing, and its got a lot of slowdown.... but I just love the way it plays. I prefer it to R-Type III and R-Type Final, which may surprise many.

I have two of those Demo 1 discs at home, they had an interesting tech demo involving a controllable T-Rex i believe?
