You can use it for voice calls on the iPad 1, I have been using the Skype for iPhone app up until now for voice calls.

Oh cool... I didn't think the ipad1 had a microphone.

The official/unofficial facebook for ipad app is damn snazzy, still quite buggy tho, i really hope that wasn't the mastered version of the app they were planning on releasing, but judging by the state of their iphone app, it wouldn't suprise me!

gonna get skype later this evening and give it a whirl.

If you have a US VPN you can setup an entropay (virtual credit card) account and sign up for netflix.

I use a brilliant free App called Audio Memos SE as a dictaphone to record telecons.

There's a Paid version for 69p (UK). Very good microphone and excellent at picking up sound.

Anyone have the ESPN goals app........I can't find it or is it only available in the uk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,939 ✭✭✭Brian017

UK only and you need a UK number to use it apparently.

Seems like we're stuck with the Setanta app which costs €7.99

For bakers the Wilton cake decorating app is great :D very handy reference for tips and techniques with lots of ideas... pretty much everything that's on their site but in app form, which makes it much easier to find stuff, and you can bookmark things.

That sounds cool (not a baker tho!) I was wondering if there are any good recommendations for food/recipies ?

If you are into cooking then allow me to recommend The Photo Cookbook. Its got great recipes but its also perfect for beginners as every single step is accompanied by a high quality photo.
There is also one for baking.

Both are brilliant and god knows I cant cook but I've been making all sorts of nice stuff.

Epicurious is brilliant, I also use Evernote as a sort of recipe book. If I come across a recipe online I save it to my Recipe notebook (Chrome have a good extension), tag it with ingredients, etc and the iPad app is great for looking at it while cooking.

Yep, I do this too - there's loads of recipies on the C4 website that I put into Evernote.

Just a heads up, theres a free live TV app @ No. 1 in the App store 'FilmON LiveTV' and it works a treat. Has a lot of crappy channels but all the UK FTA channels are there i.e. all BBCs, ITVs, C4, C5. It has the TV listings too.

EDIT. sorry I'm new to the ipad! I see this has been mentioned before and could be a subscription app. I wasnt asked for one last night but not sure if I watched any channel for more than 5 mins.

I imagine it's their web app facility made flesh; we may get access to it for a while and then it may shut down again or invite you to take a subscription. In the wake of tvcatchup winning their case, they probably feel emboldened.

Will do - I had no idea the iPad app experience was so different from iPhone! I had always dismissed it as a big iPod Touch!
