4oD App now available for IPAD

    It works in Ireland

Is anybody having sound problems with 4oD ?

Looks great on the iPad, but I don't have sound :/

    edit

Ok sorted this by going into settings and making sure that the lock switch was checked to "lock orientation" and not mute the device.

Weirdly none of my other apps were effected by this.

    /edit.

New Facebook app called FPremium looks very different and interesting. There is a free version with some restrictions.

I wish i lived in the golden age, living it up on the broadway stage la la la etc etc.

I actually liked the song when i first saw the ad, just so so so sick of it now.

There's no bypass i take it?

what i do is select my programme, and then leave it on mute, it plays the ad and then I can go back to the beginning of the programme.

    Simples :)

    My big ones:

Zinio - Magazine reader. I have 3 subscriptions to different magazines through it.
GQ UK - Exactly what it is.
Kindle - 4 books and counting.
World of Goo - I cant overstate how brilliant this game is. Priceless!
DocstoGo - All my work docs
VLC Player - All my movies.
Nat Geo Atlas - great atlas.
    ComicZeal - Comics!

Any problems or bugs with VLC fluffer ? Last time I tried it (around 6 months back) it was very buggy.

Nothing major. In fact I think its great.

I have had 2 minor issues. One was that it cannot play the best quality HD movies. But actually that is the iPad processor not being quick enough. VLC warns you.
2nd is that it cant play my subtitles. I dont know a player that does.

Cheers.. I might download it again so :)

Using Oplayer at the moment and it works fine. Don't know about subtitles tho, I haven't tried that part of it yet.

    Edit
For anyone who wants to use the iPad remotely, I installed TeamViewer 6 works perfectly from home network or outside network. The U.I. isn't perfect, but it's workable, and the personal version is free.

There's finally a proper Facebook app out, well kind of!

It's hidden in the latest update and jail breakers can access it easy enough.

    Tutorial here http://www.jailbreaknation.com/

It's not quite the finished product but finally at least there's an official one! :D

I read it was preventing login for those who have jb'ed and are trying to use it atm.
    Not so ?

Its about bloody time there was an official one, not that the official iphone one is terrific.

Facebook did block the hack but the guys brought out a tweak to get around this too, easy to install through Cydia too.

    Gotta love those nerds!! ;)

It's only free to UK residents as it's funded by the UK taxpayer.

Is there not some free content? - From todays IT

"The app is free to download from Apple’s iTunes store but the service will cost users €6.99 a month or €49.99 for the year.
A limited amount of content will be available free, as part of deals with sponsors."

At the moment it's only promos that are free. Personally think that €7 is good value.

In the Uk it is purely a 7 day catch up. This version has older stuff, eg all the yes minister episodes. The thick of it, house of cards. Gavin and Stacey, Coupling, fawlty towers. Full seasons of older top gear etc.

Since you can download them its almost like getting piles of DVD box sets for €7 a month.

Any idea if you can keep downloaded content or does it depend on maintaining the subscription?

    Yes.

How does it know you're in the UK? Is it done via IP or location service etc? or is it down to your iTunes account address?

A VPN is FAR cheaper. I access the iPlayer from China all the time.
Just set the vpn to the UK. They think you're in the UK. Job done.

The uk iplayer doesnt have most of the content on the international one and the uk iPad app does allow downloading.

Although interested in what decent vpn is FAR cheaper than €6.99 a month? Does yours have US vpns also?

For anyone who remembers and loved the Infocom games from yesteryear FROTZ is a free interpreter for letting you play those old and wonderful games.

It doesn't include the games themselves. You have to get them from elsewhere (thankfully I still have a CD with loads of the games on it).

This is worth doing, the ipad app is quite nice. It is very similar to that Premium Facebook app but this has a few more features like chat.
