    Up to 5 machines.

were running 7 mac's in the business how's that going to work, buy the usb drive and that will cover them all?

Interesting. I have a black macbook I wonder if its worth sticking on there for a play. Though its probably not up to running it

Edit: Stupid question - can I download on my macbookpro - NOT install it on that and instead install it on black macbook ?? How do i transfer it ???

Doesn't it appear as a purchased download on all your Macs? (well, up to five).

One hour download left. Thought it would take much longer, given the slowness of much smaller apps of downloaded from the app store. Hope I don't regret it and all my crucial apps still work.

I recently did a fresh install on the black one as I'm gettign rid of it soon so it hasn't been used. But I don't want to pay for it on the black one if I'm giving that one away and have no personal info on it

Ah, I see. I'm not as Mac savvy as others on here but I think the answer to your original question is no so.

Well that was painless. No option to do a clean install, but thats not entirely unexpected. Upgrade went pretty smoothly though.

So how long's it taking for this bad boy to download then?

Nice. Let us know if you've problems with any apps.

Took about a half hour for me, but thats the benefit of a fat UPC pipe :) Install took about the same.

Will do. Won't have too much time to play with it with work for the next week, but will see how it goes anyway. So far no issues, but most of my main use apps had Lion related updates in the last few days.

Oh wow, Lion Internet Recovery is genius.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/
If your Mac problem is a little less common — your hard drive has failed or you’ve installed a hard drive without OS X, for example — Internet Recovery takes over automatically. It downloads and starts Lion Recovery directly from Apple servers over a broadband Internet connection. And your Mac has access to the same Lion Recovery features online. Internet Recovery is built into every newly-released Mac starting with the Mac mini and MacBook Air.

Can someone check out the package contents of the installer and confirm that there's still a burnable dmg file in there?

Just after updating. About 30 mins to install on my 2010 13" MBP. Its just rebuilding my Spotlight index.
Download speed was very quick here on the Imperial network.

The revered scrolling direction by default is talking a bit of getting used to, not decided if I'll revert.

I'm used to using three fingers left and right to go forward and back through pages in Firefox. It's now two fingers by default and works with the new version of Safari but not FF.

I gave in and hit the download button. Does anyone know how I would go about importing everything from Entourage to the new lion mail, I really want this single thread mail.

iTunes 10.4 just released to match it.
iTunes is now a 64-bit Cocoa application on OS X Lion
/me does a little dance. This should have been the case since iTunes 10. Or 8...

Don't mind the reverse scrolling on the touchpad, but my mouse wheel is backwards. How do I go back to the old way of scrolling?

EDIT: It's ok, figured it out under mouse in system preferences.

Goddamnit! Can't install due to hard drive error. My hard drive has S.M.A.R.T. problems and is failing according to disk utility. Have to fork out on a replacement now. I suppose on the bright side I wouldn't have noticed if I didn't try to install.

I quite like the ability to add and remove extra desktops in Mission Control. Makes them more more disposable to suit your particular flow at any given time.

    Launchpad is pointless tho

EDIT: also full screen apps get their own space so you can switch into and out of them easily which is nice.

How are the scroll bars / select buttons looking on default?
I was worried they were beginning to look strikingly similar to windows, god forbid.

Has anyone tried Windows sharing yet? My understanding is that SMB is gone.

I've started the download. How many machines can this be installed on? Do I need to download seperate version for each Mac?
Does the license cover multiple machines? Where is the download being stored? Perhaps could just pull the dmg from it and copy to another Mac?

    SMB ?

Samba. It's an open-source implementation of the Server Message Block protocol, which is used for sharing files in Windows. From what I remember reading Apple replaced it in Lion with their own implementation because Samba is now under the GPLv3 licence, which would be very difficult for Apple to use commercially.

Yeah, it's a file sharing protocol used to share files with Windows. I have a WDTV so I need it to stream files. Apple have replaced it in Lion with their own proprietary version.

You can install on 5 machines I think.

If you right click on the Install file and select "Show package Contents", then Double click on "Contents" followed by "SharedSupport" there is a DMG file in there. You can burn this to DVD with Disk Utility and se that to install on your other machines.

There may be an official way, but this should work fine.

I'll try connecting to my samba share on my NAS tonight and report back. I can't seem to connect to a QNAP system here in work with AFP.
