There will be no integration. We'll be lucky if we get an app.

Google are going to peddle Android as "The only true Google+ experience". Or so I'd guess, it'd be a pretty smart move.

I can't see that happening, it would kill google+ if people on iOS and other mobile platforms weren't given a dedicated app. I'd say an app for WP7 will happen sooner or later, an iOS version is probably going to be given priority though. If it takes off then I can certainly see it getting integrated like facebook does.

Roight, roight. So has anyone managed to dual boot WP7 and android yet?

Yip, on my HTC HD2! :D

Apparently you still cant use custom ringtones on Mango which is a complete joke.

    You can indeed. :)
    Making your own tones

But we know many of you have a particular ringtone in mind—or sound files already on your PC that you’d like to turn into one. In Mango, we give you the flexibility to do this yourself—with some important caveats. To qualify as a ringtone, a sound file must be:
    • 39 seconds or shorter
    • smaller than 1 megabyte (MB)
    • saved in MP3 or WMA format
    • not copy-protected (i.e. DRM free)
This post isn’t intended to be a tutorial on creating custom ringtones (we’ll cover that in more detail once Mango is available), but I wanted to provide a flavor for how it will all work.

In short, custom ringtones can be installed using the Zune software on your PC. Once you’ve created an audio file that meets the ringtone requirements, find it in your Zune music collection, right-click the file, and change the Genre field to Ringtone. Then just sync the file to your phone like you would any music track.

Don’t worry: items marked Ringtone won’t show up in your phone’s music collection—so there’s no need to fear that during a workout you’ll suddenly hear your dog barking or other homemade ring. Instead, you’ll see them in Ringtones + Sounds in Settings, under a new Custom category we’ve created.

They're working on an iOS app now, but they've said they're not interested in any other OS's for now.

As far as integration goes, I really dont see MS going for it. They're too heavily invested in Facebook for that to happen.

Social networks rely pretty heavily on being open and providing rich APIs for other websites and apps to integrate with them, and Google tend to be quite open and provide APIs for things too, so I'm sure we'll see some 3rd party apps launched pretty quickly.

I'd check my facts on that one, because my Mango WP7 plays animanics whenever I get a call :P

Any leads on where to source a 2nd omnia 7 charger or a car charger? Judging by my search for a case, accessories are in short enough supply.

Need an actual shop, in Dublin. Herself left her charger in work and we're going on holidays on monday, if I could pop into a shop and pick up a charger it'd be easier than her trying to get into the office to retrieve...

Probably a little late now, but for anyone looking for a charger I picked up a generic USB car charger in a €2 shop, it comes with a couple of connectors and unfortunately not the right one, but you can plug your normal USB->Micro-USB cable into it.

All the previews I had read about Mango were still saying that you couldnt use custom ringtones. However the silly requirements are completely stupid, going to have to chop up mp3`s into 28 second files. Messy stuff really I remember doing that on my ancient Siemens phone.

The way its going to work is you'll download an app, which you can use to extract a 40 second clip from one of your songs.

The reason its messy right now, is simply because Mangos not out, so neither is the app your going to use.

Its just like the Multitasking feature, that doesnt work very well right now because no 3rd party apps support it yet.

Has there been an update on the HTC HD7? I'm noticing my battery is lasting a lot longer than it used to. I can get 2 days out of one charge but at first it could barely manage a day.

Same on the optimus. I dunno what happened, but I synced it for the first time in weeks on Monday, and now the battery is lasting 2/3 times longer.

This is just how you can do it to get it working on the beta, the release version of Zune will do it for you.

I think its mail1.eircom.net . However, I have my eircom mail forwarded to my Gmail because of the amount of spam I get on eircom. My main email is my Vodafone address because I get instant text notifications of new mails. I also have another tile for my hotmail account that's linked to my Facebook

FYI for anyone who didn't notice this (me, for example), the excellent IMDB app now also provides cinema listings for all of Ireland based on your location. Got an IMDB app update last night which prompted me to look at it for the first time in about a month. All the cinemas listed! And you can email yourself or someone else showtimes directly from the app, no copy / pasta required. Bye bye entertainment.ie!

I downloaded a free web texting app this morning and it works great. I just have to test it on international texts. Now foodspotting anyone?

It's a good app for sure.

The more apps that do the same thing, the better off WP7 will be.

If theres only 1 webtext app, the developer wouldnt need to put in any effort, but if there are two, the developer will work on it more. Competition breeds innovation.

    Completely agree,

I would like to see at least 4 of each type of app. Look at how fierce the twitter app space is!

Hey I lost the headphones that came with my Samsing Omnia 7 (the one with three buttons for volume, answering calls, changing track) :( I've been around the shops and none of them have any clue of where I can either find a replacement Samsung set or just a pair that would be compatible with windows phone 7. It's kind of infuriating that coming up to the first anniversary launch of wp7 the accessories are this scarce!

If no one knows of where i can find a compatible set (ie with buttons to change music track at least) then could anyone recommend a standard pair of headphones max price €40-50?

    Thanks in advance :)

Have you tried any? the iphone headphones should work with your phone.

Or you can get them on ebay for a little as €3.02 or you could splash out as much as €5.65!!! :D

I haven't tried them but I've heard that the earphones made for iphone (with dedicated buttons) don't work fully with non-apple devices. In any case, the sound quality on the standard iphone headphones isn't great so I'd be looking for something with a bit more bass and external noise cancelling.

    Thanks anyway.
