    Yesterday:
Rack jerked up to 95, missed the 100 twice (despite use of nose tork).
Clean and jerk: failed 90, doubles at 80 were rough. Cleans ok, jerks crap.
snatch balance: 2 doubles at 70, onw double at 72, dropped it too far back on the neck, which was smart. No damage though
Front squats: went back to the office in a huff!

Knackered. cycling up to about 35km a day on for the last week and until next thursday so lifting was always gonna get raped. Wasn't expecting to miss 90 though! Gonna try to sandbag the cycling a bit more. Hopefully there will be massive supercompensation when I get back to normal!

right, got my food on and kept the mileage down a bit since last session.
    Snatch:

68X2, 72X1, 76X1, 80 on third attempt, 83 on 5th or or 6th. Missed 86 3 times, had it locked out but forward. Need to hang on a bit before diving down. Missing about 2 inches of hip extension. Will do some hang snatches and pulls from blocks maybe? Happy enough, 83 is a bit of a local maximum and better than I've been doin lately.

Back squatted up to 125 for a single. Got out of position and had to dump 130 over me head. Left it there..

    Edit, moar stuffs:
Getups , 5x16kg a side, 5x24kg a side, single each side with the 32kg stalinball. Stopped doing these about a year ago for no reason. Think these are easier with dumbbells, possibly because Krazyballs piss me off.

Pressed the 24kg for 5 reps a side. Bah!

Maxin clean and jerk and FS next session hopefully. Want another shot at a snatch max next week too.

messed around with some elevated split squats with a 16kg madball in the goblet position, 12-10-10 per leg. Hams and hind-quarters not happy (bastarding things deserve it for skiving off lately :P)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    Another sensible session...

Clean and jerk: got up to 90 but failed 95 about three times on the jerk. No aggression. The clean was ok though. that's better than last week and has been elevated from shameful to just plain ****e!

    Front squat:
up to 100, failed 105 twice (WTF??)

rack jerk: 95 on 3rd attempt, shoulder was screwing with my head and missed 100.

    Back to front squats:
nailed 100, failed 105, got pissed off, smoked 105 easy, failed 108.

Rack jerk, got to 95 again I think.

Also, stripped the bar to 90 whenever I missed something and power cleaned it to the rack.

Still not great, happier than last week anyway and I'm not gimped so **** it.

You basically place the bar on your back and rotate your head 180 degrees...

...I should've said "I then returned to front squats to avenge failure"!

Think I'll keep doing it. It's a nice sneaky way to get some power cleans in when nobody is looking!

Right, took the racer I built out for a shakedown, hit up howth hill again and did the sutton side in 10.05. Tripped the speed recorder at 65km/h. The frame is kinda short so things were gettin' a bit wobbly at that point. Got left for dead by the actual cyclists!

Righto, 2nd attempt at snatch maxin'

    76-80-84(fx3)-84(success)-86(fx3)-86(PR!)-88(f)

    Dear Gravity,
    F.Y.C.N
    Regards,
    Ed

****ing delighted with the PB, it's only a kilo but I haven't had a snatch PB since the 11th of November. The dark days may be nearing an end! Nowhere close on the 88, too tired. Managed to use the "pockets" cue to finish the pull, this was wise.

    Back squat:
up to 125 for a single again, nothin mad, looked easy apparently

    Rack jerk.
I'm trying to feel these out and see where tech gets sloppy. got up to 95, and apparently everything was straight up&down, missed 100 because I caved forward. Tried 100 and fired it up despite caving forward. Need to keep more upright on dip.

Did a couple power cleans at 90 again. They actually seem a little easier. Nice thing to keep in the background.

Right, plan for the next week is:

    Monday: openers

weds and thurs: some 50% stuff

    Sat: profit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    right, openers today,
snatched up to 80 easy ish. took ages to warm up. Shoulders are ****ed! Did the usual band stretchin' voodoo but it's prayin' to false gods at this stage! Snatching appears to work as a warmup though.

Clean and jerked up to 90, ugly jerk though, caving forward again. took it again and missed it twice. Adjusted hand position for the last attempt and it looked all purty apparently.

    Fs: 2x3x80kg

    Ice please

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Edenderry open: 84-92 @84.2, missed 87 and 96 due to not finishing pulls and making things harder than they needed to be. Had a longer post written out but it looked like a ****ing emo journal so had to get wiped. Good day and a huge turnout, which made things.... interesting. hopefully the shoulders won't be too sore when the vitamin I wears off

Nice to meet some of you feckers too!

    Need to work on....

    ...Everything!

Jerk is gone to hell lately. Cleans aren't usually that manky looking (they felt a hell of a lot worse). I've a few ideas anyway. Youtube video editor is handy, pity you can't add captions (or I'm too retarded to do so).

    shoulder voodoo,

Snatch warmup: did an ohs with the bar and shoulders were screaming. No snatches then, clean and jerks it is!

Cleaned 60kg and the shoulders caught fire again. Hmmm. Ok, back squats again...

Errr, can't hold the bar. Shoulders ****ed...

Managed to do some back squats by looping a pair of straps around the bar Max Aita stylee (without the 302kg). Feels a bit unstable but I can actually squat that way. Did 5 singles at 110kg.

Pendlays: 3x3x80kg, pretty strict, no torso movement or mexican wavey bull****. Shoulders felt a bit better, went for an 80kg clean... nope too much pain. Bugger

Deadlift: wandered up to 140 for a single.

stoopid shoulders. They hurt when rotated, but rotating doesn't hurt them in the mid range. They don't like abducting either. Gonna leave the competitive lifts for a while, do more wall slides and YTWL (ooh the shame!) type voodoo. Might try to get a squat in the meantime. Will have to start taking my snake oil again too.

Edit: must try to do some zombie cleans next time. Gonna get a helmet and do some zombie snatches and zombie jerks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

Bit less gimped today. I can clean and front squat again. Cleaned up to 90 for a few singles. Speed wasn't great and felt weak. Meh.

Back squatted 100kg for two 1-2-3 ladders (stole the idea from that Shafley character) trying to move properly and keep torso upright. Still need to use the straps though. 3 ladders next time then more weight

    Pendlays:
    60x10, 70x10, 80x5

Some low-level voodoo on last couple of reps with 80, not too bad though. Me rikey lows

Anyone in the same province might aswell give up.

It will escalate, wait and see, it'll start to creep up towards Carlow and those other midlands counties that don't really exist.. next thing you know you'll try to walk out your front door and gravity will break your nose.

He's at again I see, the south midlands is doomed, tens will die!

Let's see if I can remember this cluster****...

    Power snatch (straight leg catch)
    40-50-55-60(ow)
    couldn't dip as it hurt

    OHS- 20kg, nope
Clean and heave-jerk: up to 75, very slight dip again for same reason

Cleans, 5 singles at 90, one or two at 95, some heaves too. Threw in a slight arm bend at the top for two reasons:
    1: keep bar close
    2: heresy

    Frontal Squatz:
    3 ladders at 80

    Clean-Death lift:
    130x3... hind quarters on holidays

    pendlay: 60x10
scap pullups, ytwls (shame!!!!! three hail marys)
    shoulders felt a bit better.

    OHS: 20kg... Nope again

tried some incline benchin'... started to hurt at 50kg.

seated overhead row thing: 70x20, 80x10

    Probably a bit ADD.

saturday: light pressing, shoulder a little better.

cycled 50km. Swam in the sea for about 5mins, got bored, went home. Went up the village side of howth hill too, turned right at the church and had about six heart attacks before the summit.

some ohs stuff, sore at 20kg.

power snatched up to a double at 60, stopped when it started to hurt

clean and push jerk up to 70, did some split jerks at 75, not too bad.

cleaned three singles at 85, think I missed 90, no energy.

back squats, 3 ladders at 100kg, more weight next time.

    pendlays: 10x60, 10x70, 7x80

back to some OHS with a dowel and the bar. Can do them without pain only if the torso is almost perfectly upright. No full snatching yet. Still too gimped for that.

    today:
    YTWL
    Band shoulder stretch things

OHS: bunch at 20, 5x30, some crashing but not major.

Clean and jerk: three or 4 singles at 80, less pain, still there though
    Clean: 85-90-90-95-100(fx2)

Front squat: 3 ladders at 85

    Deadlift (double overhand, no hook)
120x3 (10s hold at top of last one)
    130x3x2
    120x3

клоков жим стоя 20кг: 2x8 with empty bar, these felt comfortable. Gonna try and emphasise shrugging the ****er up in future as I forgot today.

Grip felt strong today. I've clearly neglected to overthink it and make it weaker. Damn.

Think I might be back snatching with the bar soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

didn't get around to training on saturday (ok, I was hungover)

    today:
OHS, up to 40 for a triple, snatch balances at same weight then snatched it. little better. Slooowly catchy monkey.

    power snatch (high catch)
    60x3, 65x2, 60x2x4

    Back squat:
3 ladders at 105, tryin to keep upperback tight. More weight next time.

    Pendlays: 60x10, 70x10, 80x10, 85x5

not entirely righteous on the 85, two of them barely hit me chest, if even. I still like these as they don't ****ing wreck my upper back like pullups do.

    Koar later.

    Later: Koar

2x10 evil wheel rollouts. Did the same about 4 days ago and the abs were sore. Couldn't do a third set (was doin these elevated and weighted a while back) Weird, must have the rhabdo or something. Hardkoar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,234 ✭✭✭Edwardius

    right:

    YTWLS
    Cuban presses
    band stuff
    quad stretch
    split squat
    eye of newt

    OHS: bar
    snatch:

    Bar
    40kg
    45kg
    50kg
    55kgx1x3
    60kgx1x2 (I think)

happy for the moment, I couldn't snatch an empty bar a few weeks ago. Really trying to push the bar up on receipt. Looking at videos, I seem to pull the ****er high, have a cup of tea, float down and catch the bar when it's travelled about 30cm downwards, Also chasing the thing due to unfinished pull screws position and causes further shoulder rapage. See here (this is possibly the lift that ****ed both shoulders too):

If the shoulders ain't pushing up and spectacularly jacked then I don't see how it's not going to lead to various forms of ouchitis. I also need to work on this mythical third pull, which would save me having to deal with such things, as shoulders and elbows would lock out at exactly the point of max bar elevation. I can't think that fast and sure as hell can't move that fast. I reckon I need to do more tall snatches hang snatches, overhead SHURGZ and possibly muscle snatches (so there's some strength in that wide position). Also get jacked.

    Anyhoo...
Clean and jerked up to an ugly 85, then back to 80 for about 5 singles. Felt ok but still leaning forward on the drive. up to 75 looks perfect but then shenanigans occur.

    Front squat:
    3 ladders at 90kg
    ok

    Deadlift (all double overhand hookless)
    120x3, 130x3, 140x1(+10s hold), 1, 1
Ok this is weird, they are still baby weights but I don't remember ever holding 140 for any length of time with double OH grip. I've been pinch gripping plates and doing rows without hooking but no other grip work, err well apart from cleans!

In conclusion: Blah blah blah blah.

Snatched 60 again, missed 65 behind and thought better of continuing (ouch!)

power clean+power jerk (working on stayin upright): about 10 singles at 75kg. Still a bit loose.

    Jerk heaves: 85-95-105-110x3

    Back squat:
    3 ladders at 110kg
    Felt heavy :(

aight, didn't spend half an hour warmin up snatches today and went straight to clean and jerks...

10 singles at 85kg, two dodgy ones but the rest were nice

    Front squat:
3 ladders at 95kg, not too bad. let a massive fart on the 2nd rep of the last set. 100kg next time

deads: 3x3x135, still not too bad. Still using double overhand

    jerk drives: 80-100-110x3
