That's good news. Just be careful stopping everything abruptly. Especially vitamins and minerals, better to slowly taper them down so the body gets adjusted to the change in supply.

I'm still taking my vitmins - I stopped the antifungals, and Thiodox. I think it may do more harm than good. I am keeping up with my vitamins and milk thistle and a few other supplements.

Backpain in kidney/liver area has gone since stopping antifungals. Still not feeling great, but haven't been to bad today. Going to try out organic coconut oil for the brain-fog, waiting on a delivery. Alot of reviews have been positive - only one way to find out!

Like you, I suffer with dreadful brain fog- it is the bane of my life, so you can imagine my surprise and delight to be brain fog free for a full week recently while on hols in Spain. Not even a hint of brain fog and although having been gluten/dairy free for past two years I decided to have a couple of shandies and was amazed when to feel perfectly fine after them! A whole week free of fog-it felt AMAZING!
However, on my first day home, the fog began to descend, later that day I went my folks for dinner and it lifted, came home it came back. So. I was thinking it could be carbon monoxide in my house and made a mental note to purchase an alarm.

Rang my homeopathic practitioner the next day and she suggested I could be suffering from ElectroSensitivity from the plethora of electrical goods and radiation which we are all exposed to on a daily basis. She recommended I change my portable phone for a corded one, curb the use of my mobile (text msgs being the least offender), get rid of microwave and seriously limit my use of wireless broadband (prior to this my broadband box was on 24/7-in my bedroom!) I have followed my practitioner's advice ( the micro still there though as it makes a great shelf

), and I have been feeling really good. Had a few hours brain fog yesterday due to my son being online for about three hours (difficult to keep a teen offline!).
I'm not suggesting this is the complete cure to your illness-or mine but it may be worth a try for you to see if it makes any difference. I know like me you will try anything to feel 'normal' again.

Perhaps the heat in Spain might have helped? I do feel very refreshed after a sauna, so the sweating might have helped clear toxins more than normal? Just an idea.

I haven't read the entire thread but skimmed through enough to get the general idea and can completely identify with your problem.
My problems started almost exactly ten years ago and like many I suppose I could write a book about the search for answers.
To summarise though I am fortunate in that I would say I have made an almost 100% recovery and in many ways feel better than I ever did.
(Of course although although I always had a reasonably healthy lifestyle I do pay a bit more attention to diet/exercise now)

I couldn't say with absolute certainty why that came about but a few key factors.

- Recovery was a very gradual/incremental process with many major setbacks along the way.

- After bankrupting myself going to a long list of doctors, consultants, specialists and several alternative type therapists I kind of stumbled on Dr John McKenna

- His diagnosis was the clearest I got and the treatment (summary) was for the heavy metals (fillings and chelation) Blastocystis hominis treated by strict diet,colonic irrigation, medication and supplements.

- I was probably improving before I went to him and the passage of time may well have been an important factor although I feel a breakthrough was made by Dr. McKenna

- I feel I didn't deal with the psychological/mental aspect correctly. Don't get me wrong I had enough people and several doctors tell me it was all in my head and they were completely wrong. But i underestimated the massive blow something like this deals to your self confidence and the impact that in itself can have and for me it is the part that still needs work.

I'm cautious of saying to anybody that because things I did worked well that it could or should be followed because of different cases and symptoms.

Same - Waiting on that book by Cutler. Read through all of the reviews - the results looked very promising. I got some organic coconut oil today - so going to try it out for a few days to see if it can help clear this brain fog.

So my mercury levels were more than double the acceptable levels, and lead was almost double the acceptable levels.

Have you ever considered taking Chlorella? If not i think you should consider trying it for a week or two and see how you react.

I'm not using Chlorella. I'm going to follow the Cutler protocol which seems to have the highest percentage of recovery. Thanks for the kind comments though

That thought naturally crossed my mind but have kept my broadband box off when I am in the house (apart from now!) and brain fog is not an issue. Last Sunday I met a friend for a coffee, came home and felt a bit odd, yet my broadband was unplugged. I rang the coffee shop and asked if they had wifi. Their reply 'yep'.
Totally up to you, but no harm in giving it a shot.

It has not been an issue from me, as I got brain fog on a camping trip. I manage mine with supplements, diet, and ensuring that I don't overload myself. Just about..

My DMSA should be here on Monday, so I'm going to begin chelation then using the Cutler protocol. I'm going to use DMSA for about 4-6 months, and then introduce ALA, chelating for a further year. Each week is a round - so I hope to see at least some improvements after 50 rounds, which is a year. From the stories I have been reading - most people have stated that they notice a very strong improvement by the 50th round.

I plan to do 75 rounds in total. I should have enough DMSA now for the first 6 months, but that all depends on my tolerance levels and dosage.

The battle begins Monday! I'm going to start a blog to keep track of my progress at some point this weekend.

No, I don't need them. I'm beginning chelation with the Cutler protocol. I'm addressing the root cause of my problem, rather than subsequent problems. If my body was functioning correctly, I would not have these issues. It is because of the mercury toxicity. I'm certain of it - so until I address that, it will be futile to fight an uphill battle with the symptoms individually

ive followed the thread on an off for a few months. is this the diagnosis you finally got?
was it food contamination or what?

hope everything is going well for you anyway buddy, i had avian flu about two years ago when i was travelling and it was ****ing horrendous and that was only a few weeks of hell so i cant imagine what youre going through but honestly i wish you the best.

hi, i thought i might have a mercury problem
i had fogginess, lethargy , etc and burning back pains and kidneys pains in mornings.

i figured out it was due to a halogen bed side light , the transformer and cables sat under my bed- and where always plugged in .

soon as i removed it - no more problems .

think hard about what you have electrically near you in your sleep area
or where you spend a lot of your time ,

Yea, the reason I ask is I think I may have a very similar issue to you. All my life I've been given about a millions different ways to fight the symptoms.

I've never even thought about metal toxicity. I had mercury fillings when I was younger, as well as braces when I was a teenager (which is around about when these symptoms started!). I also have a permanent brace on the back of my front teeth.

I think I'll definitely look into getting tested and the brace removed.

I just stumbeld accross this thread. I am in the same situation, 29, with mercury toxicity, attended Dr McKenna a few years ago, got my fillings which were leaking mercury removed in kilkenny and did DMSA chelation. I have mostly the same symptoms as dlofnep. I went to a gastro doctor again last week as I am really fed up to be once again told I have slow transitory bowel or IBS. My difference is I got my fillings in primary school and can at this stage not remember what it feels like to feel "normal".

Unless your braces are made from a toxic element, I can't see how that would occur. However, if you had amalgam fillings with mercury - then yes, it certainly could.

Began chelation today using the Cutler protocol. Taking 12.5mg doses of DMSA every 4 hours, which I plan to keep up for 3 months. I'm then going to introduce ALA and keep up 3-hour doses of that for about 50 rounds.

Have you looked at the Cutler protocol? That's what I'm on right now and seems to have the best success. My understanding is that DMSA alone will only lower the immediate mercury in your system, but will not cross the blood-brain barrier.

You would at some point need to introduce ALA according to Dr. Cutler to cross the blood-brain barrier, to chelate the mercury from your brain.

It is recommended to use low doses with frequent use. For the DMSA, 12.5mg's every 4 hours (including sleep), to start off with. ALA doses are similar, but taken every 3 hours. I've read a number of cases of people returning to full health or 90% of their health within around 50 rounds (about a year).
