Was at cafe in donabate today and was shocked to see an outer dining area where food was been served!!!now there was tiny gaps in the canvas on the sides (but had semi solid ceiling and had fixed doors) but it was still somewhat smoke filled as large crowd dining there....I Thought the smoking ban was to protect employees????
I remember when the law came in and a stubborn officer came to a bar I managed and went crazy at our cover shed which had with 3 missings sides....seems madness now looking at other smoking areas...

I'm a non-smoker and I can't stand the smell of tobacco when I'm trying to eat my dinner.

And for that reason, I don't eat my dinner in the smoking area.

No problrm, I wont need to if you obey the law of the land and smoke where you're supposed to!

Or do you think you should get to pick and choose which laws to obey because you happen to be a drug addict?

My post did neither of those things so I have no idea why you quoted me!

Oddly enough it wasn't cancer that killed Hicks, it was side effects from his treatments that did him in.

You have to remember that chemo and the like are brutal treatments that take a terrible toll on the body...and at the time Hicks was getting such treatments it was basically the medical equivalent of brain surgery with a lump hammer.

Yeah, you should listen to him. At least, like he says, he was cool every last day of his life. :D And anyway, non-smokers die horrible deaths everyday too. It's not like you're completely immortal because you don't smoke..

Of course not, the exclamation mark and the use of the word 'sweet' suggest otherwise. At least man up and accept the inference your own words create.

Yeah, a genius comedian-nay-prophet loved and studied by millions who burned out like a Keroucian Roman Candle at the Christ-like age of 32.

Whereas it seems the ambitions of the herd are to die as non-smoking, grenola-eating accounts-receivable clerks/IT System Testers at 72, dribbling out their last years in an abusive retirement home, neglected by their children and grandchildren.

The word "sweet" was meant as sarcasm towards the OP. And in any case, this thread is not about whether smokers think they're immortal. it's about the Smoking Ban and those who choose to ignore it!

I have no idea why people think it's just ok to smoke cigarettes around non-smokers and are surprised when they don't like it. Why? Because you're addicted? If I was addicted to **** and jizzing on and around peoples' faces, I wouldn't be surprised if some folk took exception to that!

But they were smoking where they were supposed to... From what the OP says it is a poorly constructed smoking area in that it doesn't have enough ventilation but it is presumably to legal standards if the state haven't asked them to alter it. What law were the smokers picking and choosing to follow exactly?

I didn't see anything in the OP that said people were ignoring the smoking ban though. I thought the smoking ban applied to smoking indoors and in non ventilated area's? Anyone who wants to fill me in on this, feel free.

Sure you noticed that many restaurants, pubs and cafes started putting cheap patio furniture out on the street so people could sit there and have a smoke?

    they died , from smoking

    Passive smoking.

Non-smokers stop inhaling our smoke and go buy your own, I'm sick of you leeches, afraid to light up yet you hang around us smokers hoping to inhale some sweet amber nicotine. Enough is enough!!
