Hi there I am having similar probs to others in that when I try to text I am getting the response - Invalid response received (tried to parse a page and couldnt find expected text) - I just downloaded cabbage yesterday and havent managed to get it to work yet. I Double checked the username and Pin on meteor site and I can send a web text on the site no prob. I have the correct pw and pin saved in cabbage. any advice on a fix would be appreciated.

Could you try to schedule a message (menu->schedule message) to go to your own number some time next week with the text "test parse error" please and tell me what response you get

You'll have to change the month from 41 to 5 for it to work as explained above in post #535

After fixing the password as suggested in your pm I sent the above text for next week. I still got an error message both the one about verifying password and the parse error one but just tried again there and retyped the password etc and its working now..go figure... Whatever you did I appreciate it.

Thanks I'll look into that. A quick google suggests it's a bit random, with people saying they updated their firmware and apps that used to work started giving that error and the error going away after a few days etc. I'll see what I can do anyway

    Cheers Sam :)

Is there a way to import contacts from your phone book when sending a text instead of manually entering contacts?

I'm nearly done with the new version. How would people feel about me having two releases, one under the current market account that belongs to ryderster with some new features and bug fixes and pro version under my own market account that has extra features?

The one under the ryderster account will always be free and will continue to be updated but people who want the extra features can pay, I'm thinking between 50c and 99c. What do you all think of that?

Currently there are two "pro" features:

    1. The inbox. Cabbage can function as a full SMS client, it monitors incoming SMS and gives a notification when they arrive etc. You can disable notifications in your default app and just use Cabbage, it can send real SMS too if you're sending to a number that doesn't work with webtext (e.g. the 5xxxx numbers) or if web text isn't working. It can mark messages in your default app as read as you read them in cabbage so unread messages don't build up

    2. SMS forwarding. You pick a web text account and enter a forwarding number and as messages arrive to the phone they're forwarded to the entered number with the message prefixed with the name and number of the person who actually sent the message. The forwarded messages arrive in this format:
Fwd: John Smith <0871234567>: Hi how are you?
One use for it is if you change your number for whatever reason but still want to get messages from your old number you can put the old sim card in an android phone and set it to forward all messages to your new number

I'm thinking of calling it Ultimate Cabbage :P

Depending on what mobile network you're on you can go to their website and send between 250 and 600 texts a month for free. This app interfaces with those free texts so you can send them directly from your phone. If you have a data plan it then doesn't cost you anything to send a text because it just makes a data connection to send it

To get it working you enter an account into the app. You enter your phone number, the password that you use to log into your network's website and pick your network and you can start sending texts for little or* nothing

*"little or" because if you don't have a data plan it can cost a few cents to make the data connection to send the text

When I search on the Market on the Xoom I cannot find the application. When I search the market from my laptop and try to install it says:

    xoom.png

    Thanks Sam Vimes

I found out why it's being reported as not compatible with your xoom, it's because the app requires the permission android.hardware.telephony and as you know the xoom doesn't do telephony. I can change it though so that it says it uses the feature but it's not required and you'll be able to download it then. But you won't be able to use any of the features that require telephony of course

How about 40c for 1 day only! I'm asking this as I only have 40c left on my 02 money card and I don't feel like topping it up by €20!Yes I know I'm a cheapskate!

    hey,

The default option of sending data through your server is a bit iffy

however its even more iffy thats its been sent completely unencrypted.

Java has support for public key cryptography. you should distribute the application with a key

and put the private key over on the server..

ssl would be a big + also

Hi Sam, been meaning to give you feedback on this.

    In short, it's brilliant. :D

Have been using the version with the inbox and have had no issues whatsoever. It's made my bills manageable and predictable. I'd also have no issue whatsoever paying €1 for a "Pro" version.

    Good to hear it :)

It's nearly ready to go now and there are a few bits that aren't in the version you have.

Hi, the default option is meant to keep data transfer to the bare minimum so people without data plans can use it for a few cents and people can use it abroad where their data plans might not work. If I encrypted it it would use much more data and cost a lot more.

For people who are worried about it there's the option to connect directly to the network website which is encrypted and secure. No one has ever reported a problem with their data being intercepted though

    Hi sam

Any chance you could do a group text option

    Cheers Mike

    Hi Sam,

Just installed Ficetos Base ROM on my SGS and reinstalled Cabbage. It's working fine in that msgs are being sent and received into the Cabbage inbox. One small issue is that the profile pictures of my contacts are not being displayed where they would have been previously.

Not a major thing but just wondering if you have any ideas on it?

Hi, you can send group messages. Once you've picked a contact just start typing the name of a second contact and you can pick it from the dropdown and it'll be added to the list with the contacts comma separated

There's a minor bug with the contact photos that has been fixed in the code. You might find that the contact photos appear after 24 hours

Sweet, will wait and see what happens. I'm using v1.3, is this the current iteration?

You have the latest one that I gave out for beta testing but I've made a good few changes that haven't been released yet

Hi all, I've just published "Cabbage Ultimate" on the market, the version with the extra features. I decided on 99c in the end on the advice of my long suffering girlfriend :)

I'm going to release the new free version some time in the next few days that includes a bunch of bug fixes and a one or two new features like sending through real sms rather than webtext. I had to release the paid one first because the free one links to it if you try to enable either of the "pro" features and I wanted the links to go somewhere.

You can get it here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.cabbagetexter.android.cabbageultimate

Now form an orderly queue and don't push :P

Btw in this release you get a notification from Cabbage when you get a message. If you find it annoying that you get two notifications, one from cabbage and one from your default app, you can either disable notifications in cabbage (menu->settings->Incoming message notifications) or you can disable them in your default and just use cabbage. There's an option to mark messages as read in your default app's inbox as you read them in cabbage (which is disabled by default) so the unread messages don't build up.
