    Hi,

The last two days I've been unable to send sms by Cabbage??

"invalid username/password" or "parsing exception" keep coming up?

Apologies if the remedy was posted earlier in thread - I've just come across this thread now.

    Thanks in advance.

Can you log into your network's website with the login details you have saved?

If so, can you edit the account to make sure the right password is stored?

And are you sure that you've entered the right phone number, in the format 0851234567 and the right pin in the program?

Meteor was down for maintenance yesterday and was telling everyone they had invalid logins. Are you sure it's still not working?

Ok, I logged in using 0873...... and my PIN for meteor.

    Got back 207 (?)

    Thanks again for help.

I'm not sure what you mean by you "logged in". Was this on the android app?

If you got back 207 that means it worked and that you have 207 messages left this month, assuming that you logged in where I think you logged in, this page or one like it: http://cabbagetexter.com/testcheckmessages.htm

Hi Sam, thanks for all the work on Cabbage.

I'm on Meteor on my HTC Desire. Cabbage (updated) is giving me the message "Invalid number: name of callee" when I try to send a text.

I thought the trouble might be having +353 in front of the mobile no I wished to text. I uninstalled Cabbage, rebooted the phone, and reinstalled Cabbage from the Market. Still no joy: the same message appears.

You should either just be entering a number or it should be in the format:

    John Smith (0871234567)

I'm thinking you're just typing the name into the upper text box and expecting the app to find the contact when you press send?

The way it works is as you type a drop down should appear with the contacts that match what you've entered and you should select one, after which it should add it to the text box in the John Smith (0871234567) format

    That was a prompt response:-)

That is exactly what I've been doing, i.e what I quoted above. When I go into Menu, and select "Remaining messages", Cabbage returns exactly the number as per the Meteor : Free Web Text app, so my mobile no and password are entered correctly.

Yeah this wouldn't have anything to do with your login details, the invalid number check is done before it tries to connect. Would you be able to post exactly what's in the upper text box? But obviously change the name and number to something generic, I just need to see the format

    "Flintstone, Fred (+353861234678),"

I've got my contacts sorted by last name first, so I get the comma showing up between the surname and the forename. That appears to be the killer, which gives the message "Invalid number: Flintstone" printed just below and to the left of the "Recent" button.

I used Cabbage to text e.g. John Doe (0873456789) and it worked fine,

Yes that's exactly what's wrong. It treats a comma as a separator so it would be treating Flintstone as a number and reporting that it's invalid. I'll think of something to fix it but in the meantime I suppose you could remove the comma from the name. You'd only have to do it once per number because from then on you could select them from the recent list.

Obviously it's not ideal but it'll get you sending messages straight away

Thanks Sam. I'll do that. You're doing a great job on the app. :)

What i assume is needed is to do a test on the name string, and if you find a comma lurking there strip it out. This may be too much trouble. It's a while since I used to do a bit of programming in Foxbase, and needed to play with text strings!

I just received cabbagelite update....still no joy

"invalid response received (tried to parse a page.....etc)

I've uninstalled and reinstalled but nothing doing?

    Thanks for your help anyhow.

Is there any chance you'd be able to pm me your phone number and pin so I can see what's happening for myself? You can change the pin afterwards of course

What I'm thinking of doing is checking if the characters are numeric (or a +), and if not include it in the next item on the list.

Noticing numbers not getting added to recent when I send a message.

I have 2 numbers there that I sent 1 message each to yesterday , but I have send around 10 messages to one person since and the person does not get added to the recent list, nor are any others. Any Ideas, not a huge issue really.

    Cheers Sam,

    Sam,

can you send international texts with Cabbage over Meteor. The website doesn't let you enter enough digits so I was wondering if perhaps there weren't any server side checks on the the number entered.

They don't support sending to international numbers at all. I can send a request with an international number in it and it will report that it was sent but it won't arrive

Something has occurred to me. You offered to test the app and installed it from a link I gave you in a pm. Did you reinstall the app from the market after I released it or are you still using the first one I gave you? There was a problem with recent numbers not updating but I thought I'd fixed it...........

I thought I did but.......... you know I can't say for certain that I did :o

I'll reinstall and report if anything persists.

    Thanks Sam.

Can I ask a very basic question - will cabbage work on a Samsung Galaxy S or a HTC Desire for emobile or meteor?

Bit of a technical cretin - I'm assuming using the app on either eats into your data allowance unless you're in a wifi zone?

    thanks in advance!

Yes it will. And while it does use you data, by default it just sends a simple http request to send messages which uses about 2KB of data.

    Hey
Does the app usually take ~12-15 seconds to send a text ? Or is it just the limitations of the WiFi connection and vodafone website ?

That's normal for vodaone yeah. Their website is set up so that if you make the requests too quickly you just get an error so I had to insert 2 second delays between each of the three requests

Is it possible to sync Cabbage android with Cabbage PC, so that texts sent from my pc show up as sent on my htc?
    That would be sweet!
And allow cabbage access my phonebook?
    Thanks!
