What happens when you try to run it from the application list? If nothing happens I think you will have to uninstall and reinstall unfortunately

Hi Sam, any idea what a "Client Protocol Exception" error is all about?

I suspect it's related to an "Error 0 Processing" error that I keep getting on the Meteor site.

Running HTC Desire on Meteor, currently on a CM7 ROM but have had the same problem with previous 2.2 based ROMs.

Hi, client protocol exception wouldn't have anything to do with that error 0 processing message, to get specific it extends the more generic java.io.IOException :)

what it means is that it's failing to connect to the internet. A few questions:

What happens when you try to schedule a message or check your remaining messages?
    Does it ever work?
    Does it work over wifi?
Do other apps have trouble accessing the internet?

Sorry, by All apps I meant the application list.
Uninstalled and reinstalled, and it works fine. (strange cause after I installed it last night I got a text and got a cabbage notifiaction, and was able to open it that way).
    Anyway. Brilliant app. Thanks.
Don't really need the Ultimate one, but will buy to support the great work.

It's opened a different way when you press the notification so that does help to narrow down the problem, thanks. If you don't want to keep getting message notifications from Cabbage you can switch them off in the settings or you can switch off the inbox completely and use it just like the lite version

That doesn't happen to me, is it possible that you have the same number stored in 3 different ways, e.g. in the phone's contacts, google contacts and sim contacts?

There's no option to filter out landline numbers but I could try to exclude them from the list, maybe by excluding numbers that start with 0 or +353 but don't follow with 8.

    Hey Sam,

Great App, going to get the Ultimate version because you deserve some money for it!

Filtering landlines would be great but just keep in mind people on o2 using this for int. texts number could be 0044 for UK. (not me but could damage the o2 user-base)

Could you have the keyboard appear when the app is launched, to save from tapping the contact area?

Is there a way to edit/delete accounts?

The whole 'number showing up numerous times' happens to me too, I think this is a google problem as when google contacts are merged they store all the numbers e.g. 0871111111 and 00353871111111 and +35387111111 it's very annoying and I haven't found a way to edit google contacts yet.

    Keep up the good work!

True, I'll have to exclude numbers that start with +353 but don't follow with 8 and then numbers that start with 0 but then don't follow with 8 or 0

Yeah that is possible, good idea. You'll find though that with the ultimate version it doesn't go straight into the compose message screen anymore, you're brought to an inbox that looks like this:
    160586.jpg

and to reply you can go to the compose message screen or you can get a thread of all messages to and from that person and respond in thread like this:
    160587.jpg

Yes. Press menu->accounts and then long-press on an account to edit or delete it. Or press menu to add an account.

Yeah it something to do with google and I don't think there's a whole lot I can do about it unfortunately

I'll see what I can do about it. Tell me, are these repeats identical, as in are the name and number exactly the same and not 087 in one and +35387 in another?

Right, there's an SQL key word DISTINCT that's supposed to remove repeated rows but it looks like it might not be possible to use it with the function for querying the contacts. I'll see what I can do

3 add a signature to messages, something like "- sent with webtext.three.ie". In order to remove it I fill up to 159 characters with spaces and then put a full stop

No problems on 3G or home wifi. No problems with other apps. It only seems to happen when I use my mobile broadband dongle (Voda UK).

I do get a Security Certificate warning in the browser every time I visit the myMeteor site if that helps? (Home and abroad).

I'd rather have the signature. My friends on android/iphone get annoyed with it in the texts when in thread view. An option to disable perhaps?

So it works normally and you only have problems with your broadband dongle sim card in a phone?

That security certificate warning isn't the problem, the code handles it. Do other applications work when you're using your vodafone sim?

I'm not using a vodafone sim, it's a stand alone mobile wifi (myfi type) device. I'm still using my meteor sim, as far as the phone is concerned it's just another wifi network.

Other applications work fine with the voda device.

The device may note have anything to do with it, just seems to be the only obvious cuplrit.

Where does it pick up the photo for the contact who sends the messages. That is: The photo for Me? Mine is not picking up picture and I do have one in my contacts.

Also, why I changing th notification sound so unfriendly?

    Thanks

It probably does have something to do with connecting through the mifi device. there are some reliability problems using the program on Vodafone due to something on their network. As Captain Morgan will tell you m.boards.ie doesn't work properly on vodafone either.

Have you tried the app without sending requests through the mifi device and if so what happened?

To pick up the contact photo it looks for a contact with the matching number and looks for a photo associated with it. Cabbage doesn't have access to the phone's own number so it uses the number of whatever account you have selected. The contact photo API is a bit temperamental tbh, it doesn't always seem to match properly. I think it has something to do with the multiple data sources, the same issue that has the same contact appearing multiple times for Captain Morgan.

As for the notification sound, I just picked a random sound off the internet. you can change it to whatever you want by pressing menu->settings->Notification sound

I have a temporary workaround for this problem. The adding of the spaces and dot is handled on the server side so I've put up another script that doesn't do it and you just have to point the app at that one instead.

Press menu->settings->Server side script URL and change it from http://cabbagetexter.com/send.php to http://cabbagetexter.com/sendthree.php (just press the back button after changing the URL) and your messages should then end with "- sent using webtext.three.ie". Let me know how you get on with it

I've been looking into this. I had a contact that was showing up twice and I saw that there was one on the sim and one google contact. I deleted the contact from the sim and now it's only showing one in Cabbage

Could you try something please. Download an app called contact remover: http://market.android.com/details?id=com.octabode.dcfd

In the app search for contacts that are showing up multiple times in Cabbage and you'll (hopefully) find that they're duplicated in different places. If you delete them from the places where you don't need them, most likely the sim card, it should fix the problem in Cabbage

As for excluding landline numbers, it's looking like it might not be feasible. Firstly it would involve an extremely complex sql query that I think would slow the whole down and I'd be sure to introduce multiple bugs and secondly a lot of modern landline phones support receiving texts so I'd be excluding valid numbers.

With that in mind and your duplicates being removed do you think it would be ok not to exclude landlines? The sort order takes account of the number of times a person has been contacted so your most used contacts will gradually move to the top of the list anyway
