Chalk it up to that pesky metric system, but it looks as if some Australian SAS troopers slaying bodies in The Stan were close to having to squeeze their junk into combat uniforms built for slighter chaps.

According to an article in The Australian, apparently the Australian MOD screwed up and didn’t make the US/AUS conversion in sizes, so almost 100 uniforms came in a bit slighter than the snakeaters could accommodate.

The mistake was made during the trial of the new US-made “Multicam” combat uniforms when the Defence Materiel Organisation placed the order using Australian clothes sizes, neglecting to translate them into the equivalent US sizes for the American manufacturer.

As a result, about 100 SAS uniforms arrived in smaller sizes that did not resemble the robust SAS physique. The army had to redistribute them to non-special forces soldiers whose less-toned body shapes better resembled the wrongly-sized uniforms.

As one Australian TV reporter put it to the Minister of Defense: “No one made the difference between Australian sizing and American sizing, so they’re too small for the big blokes of the SAS.”

To the best of our knowledge these are Crye Precision combat uniforms. We’ve pinged the company for their take on this but have not received a reply.

You’ll remember that based on an earlier “trial” by the SAS in Afghanistan, the Australian MOD elected to purchase 5,000 Crye combat uniforms in MultiCam for all Australian troops to wear who go “outside the wire” in the AO. The MOD said that batch of uniforms — with a $2 million AUS pricetag — was not affected by the size conversion snafu.

Lads - does anyone have a line on the official crye precision uniforms? I've tried to buy direct from their site, and (how patriotic of them) they won't ship outside the good old US of A. Obviously part of some plan to keep Walts like myself from getting our hands on serious gucci.
    It's a damn conspiracy I tell you!!

You can try Patriot Surplus, they do ship to Ireland and they're good to deal with. All of their MultiCam is either TruSpec or Propper.

Cheers dude - I can get the truspec and propper stuff alright.

What I'm after though is this:

Can't even seem to get decent clone stuff of this type anymore - let alone genuine.

Anyone have an American grandmother that they don't mind sharing (for the address to ship to...)?
    :D

Yeah got some good lols off that
Well that does it for me!

The decision to appoint a boards member who's main contribution seems to be to argue, blicker and belittle the contributions of others is galling.

Leaving aside the members appalling record of warnings and banning for trolling & flaming, this member would not have the moral high ground for such a responsibility....

Looks like a proper wally now haha

That worked better then the suggestions I gave Steve , bravo sir, bravo

I know this probably isn't the place to post this, but i have to say i think that your April Fools joke was very un-wisely composed Steve. The thread itself has being closed other-wise i would have posted there. I'm all for humour and jokes and anyone that knows me will know that, but in this case you left a number of posters exposed after they let their opinions known. This forum is bad enough with bickering at times without another reason for people to get their knickers in a twist. I don't know who was informed of the joke previous to its beginning but i feel the mod's should have intervened before people gave their honest opinion of what was and would be happening.

You're right, this isn't the place to post it.

However, in response to it (since I'm certain that post will be moved at least, this can go with it), I saw Steve's post at 2am. I spotted it for what it was but watched the replies roll in with much mirth. I expected the "it's terrible to see you go" stuff, but I was surprised (and highly entertained) by the venomous posts by certain individuals.
Frankly, if people are going to draw knives that quickly on what looks like an easy target (an Oscar worthy performance with an all-star cast) then I'm personally delighted they were caught out.

Not only was that post, and it's back-up posts from those in on it, hilarious, it also flushed out some peoples colours.
    Win-win.

Also, Steve? I'm pretty sure you've endeared yourself to the heart of the airsoft community on Boards permanently now.
