hey guys has anyone used an app called applanet it supposedly lets you have any paid app for free you cant get it from the market you have to go to the website and download it from the qr code, has anyone tried it before and is it safe or legal ?

here is a link to their website http://www.applanet.net/

Looked at it before but didnt like it requesting permissions to access account credentials.
    Came across very dodgy.

And I'd prefer to support the developers of the apps as without them getting credit,
well we wouldn't have half the apps that are out there.

    Thats my 2 cents.

Why would you ever think that would be legal?

just because it states on their website that any developer who wishes their app to be removed from applanet may do so by contacting them therefore I just assumed that they had found some kind of legal loop hole by stating this so it left me a bit on the confused side I also found it hard to find much info about applanet on the web so thats why I posted it up here :)

I really didn't think mind mapping would work on a phone but I was wrong :)

Thinking Space Pro lets me create and edit mind maps on my DHD and works like a dream - well worth paying for. I honestly believe that if you are using something more than a few times you should be prepared to pay for it - this is less than the cost of a pint of stout. There is a free version that is also pretty good but the upgrade is worth while.

If you host the site in a country where it's difficult to get copyright enforced, i.e. Russia.

the same way anyone doing illegal things stays in business, you use every trick in the book to avoid the law.

sometimes they to well and manage it for a while and then abandon it and pop up with some new scheme somewhere else later on, or sometimes they get caught and shut down/arrested etc.

Really looking forward to Amazon Cloud Drive hitting our shores. This would definitely be my preferred way of playing music on my Android Phone.

You'd need a fairly good data allowance.

Just purchased a bluetooth OBD2 adapter for my car for around €19. There is an app called Torque which allows you to read and reset faults in the car, also has a dashboard displaying car info.

They weren't first either, Verizon have a similar service and support blackberry as well as android.

On your dashboard or in your glove box there will be a connector which you can plug in the OBD2 bluetooth plug. Can be tricky to locate.

On my car it's beside the steering wheel (Pug 406 coupe) but on my friend's C5 it's in the glove-box.

If you send me your car make via PM I might be able to find out for you.

Where did you get the adapter? Most I've seen were almost double that price.

I've had a browse on the Torque app wiki and forums and there are a couple mentioned there, obviously the £20 ebay job is bottom of their recommended list. I'd be tempted to give this a bash too (£20 ebay job), it looks a nifty gadget.

Of course I'd be interested to hear too where others bought the adapters, and which were recommended.

I didn't buy the adaptor at any stage. I was just talking from experience of using OBDII adaptors connected to a laptop or a portable fault reader.

My car's not ELM327 compliant so I won't be going down that route.

This is the one I got. Just hoping it works as it is cheap and Chinese. If it doesn't work might invest in something better. There are similar ones on Ebay slightly cheaper. I'll report back how it goes, will probably take a few weeks to get it. Has anyone else tried one of these yet?

Mine is near the clutch. As someone said above, all cars have the port in a different place.

Was thinking of giving it a bash. Looks fun.

Have you used the torque app much? it looks pretty comprehensive, though I presume what is displayed is car (model) dependent.

I know I have seen it here before but can't find it. Looking for a good running app. Will only be running around football pitches but would still like an app that will save records of time and distance.

    Any help is appreciated.

There are probably quite a few, but I've heard of sportstracker, mapmyrun and runkeeper.

I used the sportstracker for the bike for a bit, but found the battery usage too high. I use a Garmin for tracking my training now.

I downloaded runstar. Is that any good?

Not looking for anything major, just back from an injury, so nothing too serious at this point. And does it work with the treadmill, like manual entry or anything?

Also will be playing music while running if that makes a difference.

I have just started running to keep fit and I have used Runkeeper so far. It's quite basic but handy because you can break up the session into different intervals and it will 'speak' to you at the start of an interval. Handy for me because I don't wear a watch. It will also 'speak' to you at different times telling you how far you've gone and your average speed. It mutes the music player app momentarily while it 'speaks' to you. I have also tried Cardiotrainer, which you can add manual workouts for treadmills, as well as Runtastic and Endomondo but they are too advanced for the level I'm at right now. Maybe one day I'll switch to one of those... :)
All of those have free and pay versions so try them out and see which one suits you.

Cheers. Will runstar work if I am just running around a football pitch though? Really appreciate the replies :)
