Picked up A Nes with one pad and 3 unboxed games today.Games were Super Mario Bros 3,Double Dragon 3, and California Games. Also got a PS2 pad and some Jap Donald duck game for the game gear, all for €20. Nes was in great condition but I can't get it to stop with the blinking power light grrrrr, looks like I'll have to open it up and give it a good cleaning.

You prob just need to replace the old 72 pin, its a simple thing get one on ebay for cheap (your prob know this already). also clean the games too. Flashing can also be caused by a game from the wrong region. if its flashing on and off on screen and you can see the start of the graphics flashing on and off then its a region issue.

Picked up a boxed james pond 2 in rage earlier for the megadrive, they have a lot more games in there now than the last time i was in.

The James Pond games are great, a real sweet, almost but not quite, musty odor of Amiga off them, just makes them all the more, well, retro!
For a similar vibe, check out Cannon Fodder, Chaos Engine, Super Skidmarks or Speedball II, all on the Megadrive, all with that "Just Amiga'd" smell...

First time visit to RAGE on Fade st. Picked up a silver Gamecube, a new Gameboy player for the Gamecube and Turok 2 and Extreme G2 for N64. All for €45.

Almost went for a purple N64 but it was broken.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,912 ✭✭✭Steve X2

And here's the Gamecube in its new home with the gameboy player attached.

I would have liked to stick the gameboy player on the cube with the screen but it wont fit unfortunately.

Unfortunately its not that great at the moment. Only moved into the house a little while ago so still unpacking stuff and getting furniture for my office/retro room. Its more of an emergency retro station while I sort something better out. We had to move into a 4 bedroom house as I have so much stuff, and there's only myself and Kri (girlfriend), plus the dog :)

I'll stick up a pic a little later to show what I have running in my "emergency retro station" :D

nice setup you have there, if the weight of having two 3do's on that table ever gets too much you can send one my way:)

    Steve's "Emergency Retro Station":
An LCD for the Dreamcast, A Commodore monitor for the CD32(And the rest of the retro consoles as well while I wait for my CRT from o1s1n), an N64, PAL 3DO FZ1, NTSC 3DO FZ1, Gamecube with screen, Gamecube with gameboy player, CD32(I have an SX-1 expansion for this on the way), Dreamcast with VGA box, Jag, Modded xbox and modded PS3(for emulation not piracy, yet Sony still saw fit to ban me), Megadrive 1, Atari Flashback, Saturn and my Mac classic in the corner as well as my Rovio bot on the floor to keep an eye on things :)

The other side of the room has my PC desks and other non retro tech.

Well that's all I have unpacked at the moment really. As soon as I get the new CRT and some proper cabinets I'll probably unpack more stuff as the little Commodore monitor is great and the picture quality is very high but its just to small a screen to enjoy the games.

Here's a high res version of the pic for those who like to see it close up:
    Link

By the way, the blue lights are just from some leds I had left over from a PC Mod so I decided to installed them in the back of the cabinet thing to funk it up a bit :)
They get power from the CD32 as I don't use the horrible bulky PSU that came with it, I'm using a Molex adapter to power the CD32 so I just hijacked a bit of juice from that.

Well, keep an eye on the trade section of the forum next week. I'll be sticking up a very nice NTSC 3DO with a power transformer so it works on 240v. 3DO is region free so it plays all the games at full speed and screen size, except 1 or 2 rare jap games because the have the kanji font.

I'll be happy with it when I get some nice cabinets for all the consoles and bits and pieces. Until then it will do the job. At least in this new house I have a bit more room to work with so can really get a nice setup if I put the effort in.

Yes,there where some awful and some good games bundled with the 32,it was the make or break moment for the big C,alas it would not be.

Yeah, My favourites at the time were Simon the Sorceror, Frontier Elite 2, Disposable Hero and good old Sensible Soccer. I still stick on Simon,Sensi and Hero every so often. Frontier Elite 2 not so much.

You could tell by the unit itself the money woes where already in,pop up door,cd drive always spinning,A1200 mb with akiko chip,2mb ram, havent much hope, although saying that, was the biggest selling unit in europe one stage, now for shooters this was a classic itself that i loved, also on the A1200-

And when you open up the console itself to do repairs or mods you really see the cheapness unfortunately.

Good old Banshee, that was a great shooter. Hmm, think I'll throw it on for a quick go :)
