Funny how all the SF knockers seem to realise their history
thank you anyway for you contribution to this board and your input is most wellcome

I feel the need to remind you of how succesful SF been in goverment up in the six counties
They have acted properly and this will have given them huge experience in dealing with the day to day financial and social problems which arise from day to day running of a country
Their dealings in negotiations will be invaluable to any incoming party as getting the IMF/EU to reduce interest rate is needed
LIKE IT OR NOT the SINN FEIN are our best well known international political personalitiesand hence bested suited to represent us at a negotiation table
this issue is a huge one for the short term prospects affecting the lives of everyone in this country, please leave your civil war politics in th ehistory books ,
Lets deal with the present and not be bury, ing our head in the annals of history buckets of sand or political rhetoric

Sinn Fein have imposed massive cuts while in government in the North

Poverty rates remain much higher in the north where Sinn Fein are in power than in the south where they are not.

Sinn Fein's negotiating skills are greatly diminished now that they have stood down their private army and can no longer set off bombs like in Canary Wharf to "progress negotiations".

Sinn Fein Dail leader Caoimhghin O Caolain has said that the real choice in the General Election is between the economic alternative offered by Sinn Féin and the strategy now in place to which Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, Labour and the Greens have signed up.

He said Mícheál Martin and Brian Cowen were offering support for a minority Fine Gael government or a Fine Gael/Labour coalition if they carried out the policies put in place by the outgoing Government.

    Ó Caoláin said:
Both Mícheál Martin and Brian Cowen have agreed that Fianna Fáil in opposition would adopt a ‘Tallaght strategy’ type approach and back a Government that implements the economic policy put in place by the outgoing Government. This is not surprising – it would be merely doing what Fine Gael and Labour did by backing the economic strategy behind the four-year plan, Budget 2011 and the IMF/EU deal.

“Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael, Labour and the Greens are singing from the same hymnsheet. Mícheál Martin’s willingness to support a minority Fine Gael Government shows how close the Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael parties are in policy. The pity is that the Labour Party, in tying itself to Fine Gael, has prevented the coming together of the two conservative parties and the emergence of a broad left alternative.
“The real choice in the General Election is between the economic alternative offered by Sinn Féin and the failed strategy to which the other four parties have committed themselves.” ENDS

While everyone harps on about SF,voters are missing the bigger picture.

Yous are only voting back in what you are trying to get rid of if you vote FG.

    Not voting SF
    Would never vote SF

This is a party who have said they want to empty the National Pension Reserve fund & the money in the Central Bank to pay for the economy in 2011 with no mention as to how they are going to fund us in 2012 and beyond

This is a party who's leaders were involved in the planning and execution of hundreds of innocent civilians in Warrington, Omagh, Enniskillen to name but a few
This is a party who's members killed a Garda and refused to condemn it at the time (Gerry Adams), refused to condemn it years later (Teresa Ferris) and who's members actually went to Castlerea prison on the day of the murderers' release to collect them and bring them off to celebrate! (Martin Ferris)

This is the party who brought about the peace process and thinks of Irish people first and about all the people of the country and their rights, and working both borders and doing a good job.

Gerry Adams, then President of Sinn Féin (SF), said that he was totally horrified by the Omagh bomb and condemned it without equivocation

I always think its futile trying to argue with people as to why they shouldn't vote SF. The reality is that anybody who is prepared to vote SF, knows what they stand for. Clearly SF supporters know of the links between the IRA and SF and that's why they vote for them. If people want to vote for hard left economic policies there are alternatives like People Before Profit etc. The fact that people choose to vote for SF over the other lot, merely demonstrates the significant amount of people in this country that have a seriously warped moral compass.

As opposed to the people who voted in the crappy government who dragged this country down and caused this economic crisis.
And you have the nerve to question a government whos moral policies are for the country and people.
Moral values lmao ff,fg,greens moral values lmao.

This is the party who want to crucifiy people who have made successes of their careers and have worked hard to get good jobs with penal tax rates. They've also imposed savage cuts in the North but are somehow going to perform economic miracles down here.

yep your right they will fade into the background, after all they have only been about a wet day, I am sorry to spoil your week, year, possible life (its not a threat by the way) they will probably end up with 16% of the vote,

the people have no where to go, disillusionment is ripe, by the time the next election comes round it will be a lot clearer who lied and slowly marched us to creating our own nooses,

SF in the next election will become the main party as the other parties will have imploded, I am looking forward to it because it is then I will be able to see a new future a real future of hope and burden sharing never seen the likes of before,

I just hope that the newly elected do not get any more than a 2 year run, so SF can roll up their sleeves and get in there and fix it.[/QUOTE

Have you got a crystal ball?
Very optimistic definitely part of the shinner youth brigade

People before profit's Richard Boyd Barrett was on news at one there and he was actually worse than Gerry with the figures.
He avoided all questions that involved figures and said for example that when they merge aib and bank of ireland that they'd keep the same amount of people working in the new merged bank and that their only income would come from the mortgages and loans they have out.
No need to capitalise those two.
Pardon my french but fcuk me lol!

He was repeatedly asked that even if we doubled tax income to €64 billion,we'd be 14 billion short if we reverse the cuts so far made and where was that extra €14 billion going to come from?

Doubling tax take would be impossible by the way.

Sinn Féin have similar polices and repeatedly can't answer the same question.

Arguing with people that won't give answers is pointless.
Trouble is,the answers are there, they are just unpalatable to Sinn Féin voters so they avoid them.

They will have to be faced by someone though.Thats the difference between 8 out of 10 voters and the other two.

Firstly I'm not voting for any of the parties you mentioned so don't know why you think I was making comparisons.

Secondly, you illustrate my point very well. You compare causing an economic crisis to killing innocent civilians. And you believe that causing an economic crisis is immoral while killing innocent civilians is "for the country and the people". Like I said, a warped moral compass.

SF were not the only party involved in the peace process both FG & FF were deeply involved in the negotiations as were the SDLP and the unionists so SF cannot claim full credit for bringing peace to Ireland

Gerry Adams condemned Omagh fair enough but he couldn't condemn Adare?
Maybe because the IRA were benefitting from the Adare robbery whereas Omagh was an act of violence with no benefit for the IRA coffers

Agree with the poster who said sf voters accept all the baggage that comes with a party which condones murder. like it or loath it no matter how much you can point this out it's unlikely to change their mind.

I didn't accuse you of anything. I said that people who vote for Sinn Fein have a warped moral compass as the party has clear links with the IRA and still refuses to condemn IRA activity. You then responded by saying that other political parties are immoral because they destroyed the economy but SF are all about morality because they are for the "people and the country" - so basically you are saying that FF destroying the economy is worse than the IRA killing innocent civilians. Am i wrong?

Perhaps the Adams fans might have a read of today's Sunday Independent Analysis page 15 and then can come back and tell us again what a great guy he is.

    http://www.independent.ie/opinion/analysis/adams-finds-dead-not-gone-away-2548017.html

Its now a realistic possibility that the good people of Louth will reject Gerry Adams.

Ireland has had enough of the 'economic miracles' as FF pumped the economy with money borrowed from abroad. Bribing the electorate with their own money (now borrowed) was 1/2 of the two trick pony policies of FF, the other half being 12.5% corporate taxes. Now as the nation stands on the edge of default on its sovereign debt we are so fearful that we rush lemming like in suicidal fashion to the tweedle dum now that the fraud and corruption has caught up with the tweedle dee. When FG accepts the poisoned chalice that they created by not opposing FF's bizarre economic policies it will be the beginning of the complete destruction of the two shirted duopoly that has ruled the country for almost 100 years. At some point we will come to the realisation that we have to vote for honesty and integrity and not wink, nod, nudge, fraud, corruption, cronyism, nepotism, patriotism, false pride.... Give me hard bitten bastards with rough edges over the cute oleaginous whores any day. If there was a party other than SF that appeared honest to me I would give them serious consideration. There are some fine people amongst the independents and it is possible that a new party will emerge after the election of FG. For now SF gets my vote.

At least they've made an effort. SF want to reverse cuts and give away benefits we can't afford while screwing the people who already pay most taxes. Basically they want to screw me because I've worked hard to get a decent job. I've never claimed a penny in benefits off the state in my life. And SF want to tax me into oblivion. No thanks.

Ah i see the real reason now :p

Because lower paid people dont work hard and dont deserve high wages because their jobs are meaningless and do deserve to be taxed to the hilt. And those who were made redundant and on social welfare deserve to suffer.
