Don't forget that speedtest.net isn't always accurate. I've seen it report Mobile Broadband conections of 30Mbps before.

Speeds are fine, getting almost double what's shown in downloads at times but it's weather effected at the moment so it has the habit of giving 0Kb just as quick :P

Meteor Broadband in Galway, not bad, Im liking it so far actually, just got rid of UPC after they put us on the most expensive package, regular browsing of my email, boards and reddit etc is pretty much identical, and I can take it home with me now, very happy.

And thats not bad .. had it down at 0.38 earlier ..

Small wonder I had a fit of rage listening the Eamonn Ryan mouthing off last week about tripling the broadband take-up in this country over the past 3 years. Been in this house 7 years and still no sign of ever getting a fixed line BB connection. Having to rely on mobile BB sucks!

    Slightly later pingtest

HSPA+ is 21mb and 5.8mb upload i think so i think your modem is compatible but do a google search and see what you find...dont think its live in most three areas...it could be that i was logged on when they were just trialling it for the first time so i think these speeds are going to be very rare for the next year at least...

That's every bit as good as I've been getting from Fixed broadband, as long as it stays that way, I shall be happy for a while

    Steve

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

All depends - ive heard issues about access to router being limited and trotelling of p2p services and issues with xbox live connectivity....its still no substitute for fixed i think tho although alot of complaints have come in about eircom as well but they have let thier infrastructure collapse...mostly good things about UPC though and magnet for the most part. It all depends I suppose.

non fixed wireless (mobile and nomidic wimax that imagine is using plus the other providers of 3g as well) isnt stable steady solution expecially in regards to latency generally but do let us know how your experience goes over the long run :)

    what happened?

I tested again later in the day - probably more people online, so it was back down to under 3.

However this morning it's over 5.

try the magnet speedtest - it tends to be a fairer reflection and there are no speed spikes with it - google for a link to it :)
