    three seem to be the best in rural areas but each are as bad as each other when it comes to living in a city and trying to use a over contended cell...thats something i know from experience :P

    Whats the best one for Tullow, Co. Carlow? Thinking of getting a prepay mobile as I move around a bit, I'm kinda leaning towards meteor.

    EDIT: I live < 300 metres from the nearest mast.

    :mad::mad::(hmmmmm tis not good today stuck on 3G ONLY since afternoon today no HSPA at all so speeds are rubbish my DSL from UTV was also down today for over 45mins !!!!
    anyone else having crap speeds from 3??
    seriously its half 3 in the morning and its still only getting 3G signal
    guess that rules out contention so!
    its also doing this on my phone have 4/5 BARS signal but it only wil work over 3G..... the (H) That usually shows up on the phone isnt working at all not good mast seems to be screwing up more than before
    or could they be upgrading it :rolleyes:;)

    998437131.png

    Anytime I go onto pingtest after speedtest, the ping is always lower. Usually between 30ms and 50 ms. Just gonan do one now and see if it's still the case;

    Not entirley sure which is more accurate though regarding the ping, I'm hoping it's the latter :D

    Got another couple of weeks of Eircom till they disconnect it.
    1001944170.png

    Anytime I've done speed tests with Three, only once or twice has it dropped below 2meg, it's never dropped below 1meg. Was even able to use it inside in Killarney town today for work, fierce handy :D

    Using the computer where I babysit, a bit outside of Bweeng in Cork. After moving around the dongle a bit, I manged to get 3-4 bars of HSDPA coverage, and flashes of 3G, at least that's what the program tells me. Speed isn't fantastic, but for an area with generally bad phone coverage, it's not too bad.

    Moved it around some more;

    vodafone have upgraded my local mast to 3.5g ( its showing this on my nokia x6) the speeds seem to have improved a little, they should be better. Would the new modem k4505 improve my speeds? and if so, where would i be able to buy one sim free? Looked on expansys but they don't have them:(.

    Here's my speeds today,

    thats woeful if your mast is 21mb capable - you shoould be using a bog standard HSPA 7.2mb download/2mb-5.6mb upload modem at the moment which means you should be getting beter service that that...with the modem you have - what is your modem may i ask?
